This is another fruit that you've shown us, Matt, that's been added to our list of fruits to try. Melons are so refreshing & hydrating, especially in summer. Thank you! 😉
Yeah a lot of melons make for very yummy drinks, very refreshing. And absolutely, like other melons, they love it hot and dry. So many Arizona grown melons at the supermarkets. I don't think the lemon drop oil comes from lemon drop melons. I think it comes from the actual lemon peel of lemons.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Yeah, you're probably right about the lemon oils coming from lemons and not the lemon drop lemon. My mom loves the smell of lemon furniture polish; I don't polish furniture myself but I do like when a room smells nice from it. :)
@@laurenpiantino8312 It definitely brings back memories. My mom had some sort of lemon furniture polish as well, haha. And she loves lemons! My parents recently moved out here to AZ from California. Their new house has a massive lemon tree. She is in heaven! haha
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Yes, a lot of folk are moving out of California; I'm so happy to hear that your mom has found her Utopia and a large lemon tree. I don't have a lemon tree myself, but I can identify with her passion for gardening pursuits. I'm from Tennessee, tho not there at this moment in time. You must be really happy to have your parents so near to you; my mom is on a different continent to me.
Never heard of it. It would for sure grow great here. I once planted both melons (galia) and watermelons, and both grew very well in my garden. The only problem were the little rats eating them before I could collect them...
I think so! With good soil treatment, as you know traditional Phoenix soil is terrible. haha. I got them at the Superstition Springs ranch market. :) I think the seeds would sprout, after drying them out.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt I saw those there about a week ago! I should have bought one! They look good. I'll have to go see if they still have some and then try planting some! ... BTW how are your tropicals you planted at your parents house doing? I've got several mango seedlings I've got started from seeds. I'm hoping with a good tap root they will do better here than some of the grafted varieties they sell.
@@myjakpntami Yeah hopefully they will still have more. I got mine there on Wednesday of last week. They are doing well at my parents! The mango has nice new growth on it, the dragon fruit is doing very well. I have a passion fruit that I will be planting there. It is the only cutting I got to sprout, that I got from the Hall's.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt That's awesome that you got even one to take from a cutting! From what I've heard it's really hard to get them to take from cuttings. ... Hey - are you interested in growing Lemon Grass? I have had a ton of success this summer growing it from one small cutting to a huge bushy tuft of it! I love Lemon Grass so I grew many more and now I have way more than I need and still have many rooted out starts ready to put in a pot or in the ground. I can bring some by if you want. you can have as much as you would like. You could plant some at your parents house even maybe.
@@myjakpntami Yeah, I thought I would get more to sprout then that haha. I think I am good on the lemongrass, but I will mention it to my parents, and see if they want to grow some, if so I will let you know! Thanks!
@@bdb5678 Probably depends on the Tajin, because there are a few but you are right the Tajin Clasico has only mild chili peppers in it I believe. Can't go wrong with a hint of lime and sea salt either!
Yeah, like I mentioned in the video, I am not sure how wide spread these are, they may be an Arizona Melon only. No I haven't, I will keep my eyes open for a yellow water melon!
We tasted the lemon drop melon: the taste of the melon, to my taste , is overpowered by lemon flavor. Not desirable in a melon. I M O. So we won’t eat it…
one of the best fruits in the world. Hidden gems of June. The most underrated fruit to me. That magic tart flavor highlight everything.
Such a cool fruit!!
Hello, Matt from two years ago :)
Just got a Lemon Drop melon from Sprouts. Time to see if it is tasty!
Awesome! Let me know if you like it or not.
You have no idea how much I enjoyed this video, and the melon!
Thank you!! Glad you got to try it!
Just found one here in Omaha, NE. I can't wait to try it. Thanks for the info!

They are delicious. I had my first one last week.

I just found one at my local produce market in OR! So yummy!
Awesome!! :)
I'm growing about 3 of these plants this year. I was told it was a type of watermelon by a local nursery.
Awesome!
They make nice Cocktails too. Also the lemon drop oils are good for furniture polish. It does best grown in dry hot climates. :)

I’ve never herd of that! I should try that one day
Definitely, James! Give it a try someday if you can find it. :)
We have a melon called Israeli melon it’s a cross between a cantaloupe and a honeydew

Yes! If those types of melons grow well there, then these definitely would too, I would think. :) Darn rats! haha :)
Just got one in South Dakota
Awesome!

The skin will be fairly firm and a faint pleasant aroma when smelling the blossom end.

Never heard of a lemon drop melon. Have you ever had yellow watermelon. Instead of red inside it’s yellow and even sweeter then a regular watermelon.

LEMON MELON
It is called Lemon Drop Melon. It has the word Drop with it.
