I’m glad my grandad got to tell his piece of the story and you got to interview him. I didn’t know about his nickname George until my dad said after you interviewed him.
Spot on Dave! Good ole' Bill Smith told me exactly the same 7yrs ago when I met him at Latham Hall for a night out before it was closed down. He said that he definately suggested The Quarrymen outside the classroom but John didn't think the name was "rock n'Roll enough" but it stuck anyway. Poor old Bill is struggling now since his stroke, but still alive and kicking!!!
You've got the history all worked out by the perseverance and desire to sort this whole story out. It's fascinating how it all became what it would be.
Have you seen the video on TH-cam that recons that in the photo at the beginning with the quarry men on the wagon the kid in the bottom right is Paul McCartney

He is such an important part of the story, and it was a great pleasure to tell his story. You should be proud of him!

Bill is a trooper and doing ok, thankfully. Top bloke!!
Fascinating stuff. Thanks, David.
Fabulous stuff, love hearing about the "early days " of John. From little acorns, mighty oaks grow.
We have to understand the beginnings to understand where the Beatles ended up. I love the early days too.
Nice one Dave interesting info on the birth of the Beatles chiselled from the Quarrymen 😁😁👍👍🎸😎🎸BB
It is so much fun trying to track it down. The birth of the Quarrymen and Beatles 👍
Fascinating and compelling, as always.
Thanks Mondo
crazy what could have gone wrong and we may have not had the beatles.
That is why these stories and people are so important
Wow--fascinating and fantastic research!
Thanks Susan

Thanks Phil

@Allen F. Thanks Allen, I love the early history and there are so many people involved, it is nice to give everyone their credit too.
@@BrightmoonLiverpool Please keep on doing these. And keeping up with the surviving Quarrymen. Where it all began.
@Allen F. I will Allen, it is a task I enjoy so much.
Great detail with that Ronnex pressing of Little Richard.
Thanks Andrew

Yes and it isn't Paul. Definitely.
@@BrightmoonLiverpool it does look like him though
@Anthony Wileman It does, but just a coincidence. Spooky though!
Yes Anthony, he did wear glasses and wore a jacket and got around on a bike, all clues that it might have been Paul.
@Steve Kirby But unfortunately it wasn't him. I asked Charlie Roberts, who took the photo, and he knew the lad - definitely not McCartney.
Dave that’s beautiful we’ll done mate
Thanks Paul
👍
Fab! Penny Lane. Biollettis barbers shop , their son, younger than quarrymen, went to quarry bank, he always got called B.O. unfortunate nickname. Lol
