Calm down. The problem with Aussies is they can become a little rude. As an Australian I hate that because when you see an Aussie face to face they are really lovely people. Please Aussies knock of the garbage, it's not tough it's ridiculous.
ApetheticOne49 to be fair, Americans get confused by the SS. I always tell my American pals to pronounce Aussie with Zs instead of the 2 Ss. Lol. I think I made sense. :).
You should do a reaction to the sport Netball, played in Australia, New Zealand, England, Jamaica, South Africa and is growing. Such a great sport and very fast paced! Love the AFL reaction videos too!
Apart from many of the Americans in the vid needing to learn how to say Aussie like you, I’m ecstatic they are playing footy and happy our sport is gaining traction overseas
One of the oldest professional sports in the world (created to keep cricketers fit during the winter months in the mid 19th century). It’s also real “full contact” unlike nfl - none of those sissy pads and helmets...😉 Believe it or not, Melbourne is one of the world’s best places for knee reconstructions because Aussie Rules causes so many due high speed direction change - netball and afl; massively punishing on knees...
We have over 10 grid iron teams in Australia and basketball as well. We love our brothers in the US including basketball and Gridiron OF YEAH AND BASEBALL
I thinks its attraction is it allows more people to be involved in a weekend team sport that suits different body shapes & skill sets. The womens game is going off the chain here in Australia & thats a great thing.
I love afl I play Center half forward (CHF) myself and it’s a hectic but fun game. Thought it does take a while to learn and understand all the rules. I am glad the sports it finally seeking international respect and attention.
Remember, they can kick very long distances with both feet. Meaning it does not matter which foot they use. Similar for passing. That is something that takes a lot of practice. Especially at a full run. You may find women in the USA slimming done due to the Oz sport. You can thanks us later.
Great review and it’s fantastic Aussie sport is getting fans in the US. AFL is very popular in about 3 states of Australia. For NSW and Queensland though, Rugby League and possibly Union are still the most popular. I like all the codes but because I’m from Sydney, I’m a Rugby fan! Maybe review a Rugby League State of Origin match next. That’s sure to grind your teeth....lol!
Fiona Greig-Fraser did you forget Tasmania and the Northern Territory? They are AFL mad too. There is more AFL registered adults in NSW than registered Rugby League. And NSW is rugby league heartland; go figure.
As an Aussie, those Americans are doing pretty decent actually. Noone expects them to be at pro-AFL level just yet but give it 5 or 10 more years they probably will be. Lots of talent in USA.
Only the eastern half of really play RL. From west of Wagga, it's all Aussie Rules. I am from Broken Hill in NSW and virtually no-one plays RL there. lol
Ok. I know that it is spelt "aussie" but it's pronounced "ozzie"! And this is the best sport in the world. I don't know what my life would be without it! Go the mighty Eagles!!!!
And a shout out to you to American. I also just want to say that only 3 countries in the world, Australia, New Zealand and the US have their own versions of football and the fans do get stupid about it. Long live the ANZUS pact. P.S: ( Yes I'm aware rugby came from Britain but New Zealand was the nation that really adopted and nurtured it. And during the 19th century New Zealand had a ball type game called Kī-o-rahi ).
Trying to be objective... Aussie rules flows better than American Football which must stop every time the ball carrier is tackled. Also there are more frequent goals and points scored throughout the match. However it's hard to be invested in the results when you don't have some sort of personal investment in the teams playing - i.e. your local state, college or city's team.
Aussie rules football is the equal third biggest crowd drawing ball sport in the world. The crowd numbers for regular season games are equal with the crowds from the English Premier soccer league. But unlike England we have only less than 30 million population to draw from. If the crowds were rated per head of population no other sport in the world would come close to Aussie rules crowds. And important regular season game can draw 90,000 people.
A good sport for basketballers, especially those that don't get picked up by their chosen team etc and would otherwise be lost to sport.Very possible to re learn, a la Mason Cox.
Well done. Always good to see the game get more love here in the States. And that ABC piece used a couple of excerpts from "Stateside Footy", the show I produce that has featured USAFL games for the last 8 seasons. If you want to see some full-length American footy, the show is on my TH-cam channel.
Plus look and listen to the unbiased reactions from the Americans. They say AFL is crazy amazing in so many different ways. Skills and courage etc, who wants to watch a game that might only get 3-4 scores in a whole game? Stuff that for a joke!!!
It really irks me the way Americans pronounce the word Aussie as they say it with an s sound but it's supposed to be pronounced with a z sound so it's OZ - ZIE not OSS - IE
What an insightful and thought provoking reply. Thank you kind sir you are obviously a wise and cultured scholar and the world clearly has a lot to learn from someone as omnipotent as yourself.
I am a Aussie hawks are the best you have to kick it in the middle post that is 6 points if you it’s fun I play it even that I am 8 there is also AFLW which is Australia football league women’s
Dude.... if you want views... lots and lots of them.... just react to sachin tendulkar videos.... yesterday was sachin's birthday and he came into a stadium to watch a match.... guess what .... 25000 people in stadium and all the players started singing .... Happy birthday sachin..... awesome video....

Well actually its Aussie not Ozzie + I'm Australian.get it right.
Yeah, I think he's simply assisting with their phonetic pronunciation of the word.
Calm down. The problem with Aussies is they can become a little rude. As an Australian I hate that because when you see an Aussie face to face they are really lovely people. Please Aussies knock of the garbage, it's not tough it's ridiculous.
They say aussie rules like Ossie rules
ApetheticOne49 to be fair, Americans get confused by the SS. I always tell my American pals to pronounce Aussie with Zs instead of the 2 Ss. Lol. I think I made sense. :).
ApetheticOne49 ozzy like ozzy Osborne
Kelly Street That’s exactly what I told people when I was in America 👌🏼
ApetheticOne49 it's more like Ozzie (Ozzie Osbourne)
Aussie is pronounced like Ozzie.
Kelly Street I say the same for my American friends.
I know these Aussies thinking what are they doing
Me : You took the words right out of my mouth
Awesome to see other countries embracing our game
Americans are adorable. "Try day friday": plays a clip of a sport that doesnt have tries
lol 😂
lol
It would be cool as an Aussie to go over and coach and bring a bit of knowledge of the game to the amateur teams, Same said for Cricket.
You should do a reaction to the sport Netball, played in Australia, New Zealand, England, Jamaica, South Africa and is growing. Such a great sport and very fast paced! Love the AFL reaction videos too!
At first I thought they we're messing around. Bi I found out that they we're training🤣
Apart from many of the Americans in the vid needing to learn how to say Aussie like you, I’m ecstatic they are playing footy and happy our sport is gaining traction overseas

I love afl I play Center half forward (CHF) myself and it’s a hectic but fun game. Thought it does take a while to learn and understand all the rules. I am glad the sports it finally seeking international respect and attention.
I guess they also play Gaelic Football somewhere in the US ?
Remember, they can kick very long distances with both feet. Meaning it does not matter which foot they use. Similar for passing. That is something that takes a lot of practice. Especially at a full run.

36 players on the field at one time, not 18, it's 18 per side plus 4 each on the bench
Ok. I know that it is spelt "aussie" but it's pronounced "ozzie"!
And this is the best sport in the world. I don't know what my life would be without it! Go the mighty Eagles!!!!

We're just glad that others have noticed...

It’s Gaelic football with some bells and whistles, can thank Irish convicts , your welcome lol
A lot of aussie AFL players who can't handle the punishment of Aussie Rules go play NFL as kickers.
Great to see it making waves for other people to enjoy
I cringe that they aren't playing on grass. A proper tackle on that ground is gonna hurt.
