We should tell them to pronounce it - Ozzie or Ozzee. I guess the ‘ss’ throws them off, only natural, they are saying it the way it’s spelt with ss. It’s us Aussies that change the sound of ss to zz.
I live in us but my dad is from australia, and he helped create the philly team. If more americans found out about australian football they would love it
@M of course there are more slow, weak, small, sftck people in the world, it makes sense they play soccer. They get to wander up and down a tiny pitch, taking turns to faint. That's it, that's all they do, no-one ever gets excited. Australia is probably the only place on Earth that CAN play Australian Rules Football! The game goes for 2 hours, the players run 10 to 12 miles, a fair % of that is sprinting. getting smashed while they're doing it. They must be ambidextrous, able to leap small buildings and run the 100 in less than 11 seconds. And tough. Tough enough to demolish buildings with their bare hands. Small players are 6 foot, but those over 7 foot find it difficult to run far and fast. Quite simply, AFL players are the greatest athletes on the planet. Watch; "What Is AFL Aussie Rules Explained", followed by "AFL Biggest Hits". Then watch the 2005, 2006, 2018 AFL Grand Finals played in front of 100,000 spectators. You might not emerge from that rabbit hole. Soccer looks quite pale and anaemic after this. BTW, Australian Rules Football is the oldest codified and REGISTERED game of football in the world, 1859, the FIRST and ORIGINAL game of football. Rugby and Soccer/Faintball came much later. Elements of Australian Rules Football were appropriated by other sports.

I think this will take off with some good marketing. Can't get a jersey playing American football, soccer is too soft cos you can't hit a bloke; answer Aussie Rules.
Awesome to see people from other countries playing Aussie Rules, cannot wait for the international cup league next year, might go and see a couple of games.
The next Australian Football International Cup was supposed to go ahead in 2020 but didn’t because of COVID-19. It was going to be rescheduled this year in 2021 and was going to be played on the Sunshine Coast but because of uncertainty around international travel and the financial impacts from the virus, the AFIC will sadly not go ahead in 2021
Absolutely love how other countries, especially America, are trying Aussie rules and growing the game in those countries. Good luck to all USAFL clubs, especially newbies Hawaii Eagles and Richmond Lions, for the 2019 season! Wouldn't mind seeing a new team in New Jersey, Birmingham AL, Jackson MS, South Carolina, Pittsburgh PA, Salt Lake City UT or possibly even Alaska. Those that don’t know what this sport is, it’s called Australian rules football, also known as ‘footy’ and is Australian football. The best sport on the planet and the only professional sport invented in Australia and the AFL or Australian Football League being the premier competition. I definitely recommend that you go to a game, you will have your mind blown. AFL players have a very remarkable amount of skill and the fans flock to games in tens of thousands with the Grand Final in late September every year gets a crowd of at least 100,000
Only two countries have a properly developed Aussie Rules football but in the other country it is not called Aussie Rules football but is the sport closest to Aussie rules football in terms of rules and that is Gaelic Football it is played in Ireland, Gaelic Football is actually much older than Aussie Rules football but both Gaelic and Aussie football players can play both codes.
So no one outside of Australia is allowed to play it from reading these comments. "Best game in the world" but no one but Australians are allowed to play it. Last time I checked they play baseball and American football in Australia. Good for them. Play whatever the hell you want if you enjoy it.
@@sharronsimmons8166 did you not understand my comment? It was a direct response to the stream of negative comments about Americans playing Aussie rules and in their opinion, doing a horrible job at it
Aussie here - anyone can play it and there are even organized teams and organized competitions in Asia and around the world for that matter. Sanctioned AFL games have even been played on foreign soil. It doesn’t matter how skilled the players are as long as it gets people together and they enjoy it.
funnily enough there are a massive number of teams around the World playing Aussie rules. Japan, China, PNG, Scotland, England, Finland, New Zealand, Canada and the list goes on, in fact in the AFL itself, there are players from Ireland, Sudan, USA and Canada and so forth, so yes people from all over the world are playing the sport, even a friend of mine from Finland knew about the sport before visiting Australia as they also play the sport there as well.

It is actually a fun game to play at any level, if you have some level of fitness, and are prepared to cop a bruise or two. Cheers, from Australia.

So good to see the sport taking off in the states. Who cares if they're "shit"... they're out there having fun, learning the rules and guess what? It's a winter sport here and the season ends in the southern spring. I think the main reason holding the game back in other countries is the lack of large oval playing fields. Such fields were established for cricket before footy became a sport in the mid 19th century. The footage above shows a game being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, simply known as 'the G' which can hold 100,000 spectators.

nice tap to advantage at the end
Surely i can't be the only Australian who is triggered by how they pronounce Aussie with Aus-see
Think of Aussie Rules as MMA for NFL and basketball. Not really like Rugby because there is no offside rule. There is great freedom of movement and scope for brilliant individual efforts.
As an Australian and hearing her say Ossie I feel hurt
Edit: btw I’m watching footy rn any America go for the doggies there the best
good to see americans starting to learn our game. can see there is obviously a big learning curve for them since kicking a footy is pretty different to any american sport. but great game for fitness, was originally created over 150 years ago for off season cricketers to keep their fitness i believe and now its our main sport
ok im sorry but it triggers me the way she says aussie at the start.
