Now that you know more about the sport I think you should react to more match highlights. One of the better match highlights I'd suggest watching is round 8 Port Adelaide vs Adelaide Crows 2018. This is one of the most exciting back and forth games I've watched and it's also one of the biggest rivalries in the AFL
Great reaction. Yes, many people who have not grown up with Aussie rules see it as a mix of lots of different sports. It has the ruck contest that is similar to a basketball jump ball. It has quick passes reminiscent of soccer. It has tackling that is a bit like rugby. It has long passes to forwards like American football. But Aussie rules was invented long before many of these games. The first game was in 1858 and it was codified in 1859. It also has some unique features, such as the shape of the ground, the number of players on the ground, the method of scoring and, perhaps most iconically, the mark. The ball is a bit smaller than a rugby ball and perhaps a bit pointier but not as pointy or small as an American football. You are correct about their athleticism. Some midfielders will run 10 miles per game and, although players do have positions, every player needs to be extremely adept at every skill of the game, including kicking, handballing, tackling and even goal scoring. It is common to have five or six goalscorer per team in a match and there can be as may as 10.
I fail to see how any other sport is like AFL. It's not a mixture of ANY other sport. It's not rugby , it's not basketball, it's not soccer nor does it look like any other sport. It's AFL .Period
Says the meat headed rugby fan. Whats it like supporting a shit game where its tiny stadiums are near empty week in, week out? 🤣 Golf is more exciting to watch ffs.🙄

This sport started before most. Definitely before NFL and Rugby. Codified in 1859.
It was codified before Rugby, but rugby did exist before aussie rules. I think the guy who invented aussie rules played rugby in England beforehand
@@stevepitt1414 Aussie rules was also based on an old Australian ingenious game called marngrook

Stupid game
It's a stupid sport just a bunch of seagulls fighting over a chip. No skill involved you even score a point if you can't kick straight
