Is it just me or is street food in the Philippines too much fun?
Was born in the Philippines and luckily i had my childhood over there, i can tell you from experience that the food is very tasty but that’s just my personal opinion also my fav dish is ampalaya with eggs.
thank u for appreciating our food! - Filipina living in LA✨🤍
Thank you for tuning in❤️
So much fun. very very affordable. I can imagine myself retiring here.
You and me both!😁
Hello Sir Geof.
I really like this Episode.
I just want to share a story about how the Street Ice Cream ended up being referred to as "Dirty Ice Cream" (which is a Misnomer).
There was this Filipina Niñera (a Nanny) who was taking care of a foreigner boy (I believe the boy is American according to the story). One time, they were walking down a street and the boy saw a Street Ice Cream Vendor. The Boy wanted Ice Cream and asked for her Niñera to buy him one cone. But the Niñera didn't have money at that time plus they were in a hurry so he told the American Boy, "No...that is Dirty."
This story was very popular when I was in High School back in the 90's.
But the most probable reason why the Street Ice Cream is called "Dirty Ice Cream" is that it is sold in the Streets. Some say that when the Vendor opens the lid of the cart, dust and smoke from the Street could get mixed with the Ice Cream. But I doubt it.
I've tried many different brands of Ice Cream. From Dreyer's, Coney Island, Ben and Jerry, Häagen-Dazs, Baskin-Robbins, Dairy Queen, to Klondike.
But the Filipino Street Ice Cream still has that special place in my palate.
Keep them awesome videos coming!!!!
Thank you so much, Leo. The ice cream is fabulous. And only 20 pesos at that for the tall cone he gave me
Yeah its fun!
Thank you, Elsie❤️
Yummy!
Absolutely my friend
Happy new year enjoy and stay safe…
Thanks, you too! ❤️
Great content😊
Thank you so much, Jospeh
That is so awesome, I love Serra Madre Street, so of course I'm going to watch every second, how surprised was I when my face popped up at 5:40 , epic vlogger moment. Thank for the shout out. FYI those donuts are awesome
I had the intention of making this video ever since i saw your Ador's Street food and Sierra Madre videos. I tried to contact you guys on FB to let you know I was going to mention you two in the video but Meta is being weird these days and not letting my page message people.
Fun fact: I actually did an on camera shout out to you two when I was at the SioPao and Puto stand of Adors on Shaw. Turns out I didn't hit record on the camera so I lost the shout out and the Sio Pao portion of the video. Thankfully I didn't do one continuous take along with the puto so I at least had the puto portion. Hence the voice over and footage from your video that appears
Yeah meta, what can we do. I hate when I don't record, mostly it's something epic. Not sure about you, but it feels like this was one whirlwind of a year. Anyway, hopefully we can meet up next year and do some videos together, and of course, Happy New Year, read that last bit tomorrow, haha,@@PureDetour
Everything looks delish! All walking distance from each other! Awesome video!
Sadohr, All walking distance from each other and my condo. Total time out was less than 2 hours
@@PureDetour Perfect! My kind of food trip 😅. Happy New Year to you, Geoff🎉🎉🎉Looking forward to more great vids!
Wow yummy
Absolutely my friend. Super inexpensive too😁
New subscriber here and cheers im loving what i see!!
Awesome! Thank you Mark!❤️
Looks delish bruh! I like how you randomly do to places! No reservation style! So Tony Bourdain! ❤❤❤
Thank you my friend😁
Filipinos love food❤
No doubt about that, Jane😁
Yum to all of it! 😋
FYI, our lowly SORBETES (or as some call it - Dirty Ice Cream, though it's not dirty at all!) ranked 5th among Taste Atlas' 50 Best Frozen Desserts in 2023!
My favorite flavor is Chocolate which i think is actually ChocNut, a local chocolate candy bar made of cocoa and ground peanuts.
This was a very fast video but a very fun one to film. And yes indeed everything was yum
Happy New Year! 🎉
Happy new year, Juris!!
Wow that’s a lot of food especially rice in one setting 😂 Did you eat all 3 servings of rice with silog breakfasts? Donuts and burgers look so good!
I ate two of the portions of the rice. One of the meals was for my girlfriend and she wanted me to try it on camera.😁
👍🏼
Thank you my friend
I hope you visit Pampanga in the northern part of Luzon....
Unfortunately I won't be making it up there on this trip
I hope you can find a Kowloon house near you. I miss that a lot from my stay in Manila
Will try and look for one my friend
Egg sandwich at Angel's hits the spot particularly if the egg is runny
Didn't get to try that, JP. Damn, now i have to go back again😁
😋👍👌🏽
Thank you, Frankie!😁
Slow down with rice ✌️
I haven’t had tocino for awhile 😋
P.S.
back then, Angel burger is already a treat to me, it’s the cheapest burger stop shop in the Philippines 🇵🇭
Rice is a weakness for me. very hard to slow down😂
Siomai House is my go-to street siomai but they only have one kind (pork or is it shimp&pork?) compared to the many varieties at Master Siomai.
Ador's donuts look better than Happy-Haus'.
I like Uncle John's fried chicken but it's pretty salty and sometimes extra greasy.
With all the hype, I was a little disappointed in Uncle John's. it was fine but definitely not worth a special trip to get it. Maybe it was just the branch I was at
Sir, you are like Randy Santel, you can eat a lot.
I wish!😁
I go for hungarian and foot long at Angels.
You like footlongs eh? 🤨
what kind of cheese do they use in the donuts and ice cream?
I honestly have no clue. Sorry I couldn't be more help there
What part of Manila is this and what street please?
This is in Mandaluyong and everything is on Sierra Madre for the most part. Quick jaunts off on Domigo Guevarra and Shaw for a couple locations. The entire distance can be walked in about 20 minutes
Give me 1 sir hehe
Which one did you want, Joel?
Sir be careful on sweet bread in the Philippines They are so addictive
They are indeed, Francis
Too much sir
Too much what, Joel?😂
