    School: Tenjin Shinyō Ryū Jūjutsu
    Event: 2019 Asakusa Kobudō Taikai
    Date: 20/04/2019
    Venue: Taitō Riverside Sports Center
    Founder: Mataemon Ryūkansai Minamoto Masatari
    Current representative: Kubota Nobuhiro
-- PRESENTATION: TENJIN SHINYŌ RYŪ JŪJUTSU --
The founder of this school Iso Mataemon Ryūkansai Minamoto Masatari, after mastering at the highest extent the secrets of Yōshin Ryū and Shin no Shintō Ryū, started to travel through the country, and faced the headmasters of each clan without being ever defeated.
After many years of experience, when he was retired at the Kitano Tenman-gu sanctuary in Kyoto to compile his researches, he had a great revelation while he was watching a “Yōryū” willow bending under the wind. He founded his school and named it “Tenjin Shinyō Ryū”, by using the name of Tenmangu’s divinity, “Tenshin” (the spirit of Michizane), and by picking one character out of each school he used to practice before: “Shin” and “Yō”.
At the end of the Shogunate, he was teaching to over 5,000 students, and among 170 schools of Jujutsu, his claimed to surpass the others by far, and the warriors of numerous clans were competing to train there.
At the beginning of the Meiji era, in 1877, the founder of the Kōdōkan Jigorō Kanō Shihan passed the gate of Shihan Fukuda Yanosuke’s house to train there. In 1879, when the master passed away, it’s Iso Masatomo (3rd generation) who took over, and in 1882 Jigorō established the Kōdōkan.

I used to fight in the streets(not for money, just for grudges)but now I never do it anymore and I want to learn traditional\living art martial arts like this one. I will try to find a Kobudo school in my city. I used to think Not sparring to the death was unmanly..now I just the peace real Budo brings

      Kodokan Judo, without a doubt.

@@steu01 Judo is not a style of jujutsu. Also I doubt any modern judoka would beat a samurai in hand to hand combat.

@@michaelterrell5061 After 40 years of hard practice I believe that I know pretty well what kodokan judo is. That's the reason why I speak of kodokan judo, not modern judo. Sadly, olympic judo is no more judo.

@@steu01 no no. What I mean is that judo has do at the end of it which makes it a sport. The reason for this is because it was created during the late 1880s by Jigoro Kano and is thus considered a Genedai Budo or modern martial art/sport.

@@steu01 but I will say that Olympic judo does have some stupid restrictions. It is still judo though and is great to watch and is still super effective.

      First, it's called Hakama.
Second, it's traditional outfit for almost Koryu (unless when they Keiko, they will take it off.)
Third, it's spelled "Ju-Jutsu" and pronounce as it's spelled
Last, Aikido was derived from Aiki-Jujutsu which it's one of the Jujutsu styles

it amazes me that you hate 1 martial art so much that it leads you to actively root against a piece of Japanese history/culture

@@WiseOldBill I don't hate Japanese culture, they've changed the way people view combat sports and martial arts forever!
Judo, Brazilian jiu jitsu, submission wrestling, Ju Jitsu all came from Japenese culture!
