    I’m using our crate training routine with my boxer bulldog pup, it’s working amazing. He doesn’t yet LOVE the crate but he is happy to chill in there when needed, had a few setbacks with giving him treats in his crate as he is on wet food only because he just has major surgery. Hubby just brought another pup home, now I’m on the hard task to crate train him too... needed to make some changes to the routine to allow them to not be on the same routine... amazing job with all your videos

    My puppy will be 3 months on the 24th. She’s so precious. The potty training is going pretty good, she has a lot of energy and likes to bite. She sleeps on my bed I put her little bed on mine and mostly she stay in it but sometimes she comes and lays next to me. In 3 1/2 weeks since I got she never had an accident on the bed usually she wakes up once to go to the bathroom during the night Love watching your videos

    I tried doing this with my puppy. At first he would just nip at my hand. After so many attempts I realized my hand was fingers up. When I turned it fingers down he started "hitting" the button...at least a little bit. I just found this interesting...

  • @gilbertcastle1872

    Our purebred mutt puppy has slept quietly in her crate all night since the day she came home. She is sweet and loveable and smart. She is already a dream dog, and if she doesn’t stay that way, it will be our fault.

    What’s the best way to break down my puppies training sessions per day? For example, Should I train him his name for a full day and the next day train him to sit, etc, OR for example 5 minutes of sit and 5 minutes of down and 5 minutes of name recognition and etc?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can work on multiple skills throughout the day. We recommend about 1-2 training sessions per day, each one lasting up to 15 min

    How do you give the treat when you start tossing the target further than you can reach. Toss the treat after your dog gets there? Walk to the target yourself and give it to them, gradually increasing the time you take to get there?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, Megan! When you work up to the point where you are tossing the target farther away from you, you can ask your dog for a 'stay' at the target, and then walk to the target to deliver the treat (on the target). You can gradually increase the amount of time they are in a stay before you walk up to the target. This is a skill that will need to be taught gradually!

  • @SavageThrifter

    I tried doing the first game with my puppy but instead of touching my hand, she lunged and bite my hand each time. What would be a good alteration

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When this happens we suggest making sure your hand is low enough so she doesn't have to jump for it, you could lower the treat value so she's a little more calm, and evaluate the time of day (in relation to naps) that you held the session.

    Hi, why the command is not introduced from the beginning?

    • @Imaginexall
      @Imaginexall 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because it doesnt mean anything yet to the dog. The most important point is to link the gesture to a delicious positive thing. The command is second after that :)

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clickers are a great tool to mark a behavior you'd like to see more of. Clickers aren't for everyone and you should only use one if you're spot on with the timing of marking the desired behavior.

    What if your dog is NOT interested in ANY treats? No Schmackos, yogurt, carb, chicken, salmon, and everything else on Amazon. He'll eat the treat if you shove it in his mouth or leave it for him, but otherwise couldn't care.

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your puppy is still fairly new to the home, you'll want to give them time to adjust. A lot of puppies don't come home ready to eat. You'll also sometimes find that some dogs prefer toys and scratches over food, and in that case you'll want to use that as your reinforcement!

    • @raydioz
      @raydioz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HowToTrainADreamDog thanks :). His (16w old Samoyed) main interest seems to be stealing items and running away with them. We've had him for 4 weeks. Even the treats we give him, he will just take them and collect them in one of his collection points. He has lots of toys and clothing items, and again just moves them between collection points. He get's belly/chest rubs every time he does something good and generally gets a lot of affection and freedom. He also likes digging lots of holes, I think he's after the worms.
