Thanks for watching! 🐶 What's your pup's favorite Kong filler?
Thanks for the Kong recipes !
Our pleasure!
I have been binge watching your videos for my new 8 week old Frenchie/Boston Terrier! Knowledge is power, and I feel so much more confident! Thank you!!!!!!
We are so happy to help you!
Works like a charm, thank you so much! I've always avoided doing this one I'm alone because I couldn't do it but your method is virtually flawless, thank you!
We are happy to help!
I can't thank you enough for all your amazing videos!! You are so appreciated!!! Thank you!
We appreciate the comment and the compliment!
I collect the crumbs from stinky liver treat packs in a small bowl. I sprinkle some over whatever I've spread on the lick mat and inside the Kongs (usually filled with sweet potato and tiny cubes of cheese) just to encourage my pup to get started!
This is a great idea!
thank you as always for your super super amazing content and the work that you do
Thanks for watching!!
We put a squirt of Kong easy treat in the small end, tape it shut with a small amount of water, freeze it big side up, when frozen put fresh beans or in season asparagus stalks, leave the ends sticking out and top off with water. After freezing, the veggies sticking out get her attention and then keep her interest while licking/ chewing at the ice. Thanks for your vids, they have helped tremendously.
That's so cool that you make all that in a Kong for your pup. Love it!
A quick note: always make sure to get peanut butter that is xylitol free! Xylitol is toxic to pups! We opt for natural peanut butter instead! Unsweetened applesauce is always best as well. I love doing mashed banana too!
Thank you! We have a 14 week old Morkie that is 5.5 lbs. Can you do a video or share info about working with a small breed puppy? I typically try to adjust things to his size, but it would be nice to have specific info about training such a small puppy. Thank you!
@@jamesmoore4023 I have a Forkie (French Bulldog/Yorkie) who is the same age as your Morkie - he is barely 5 lbs. I would appreciate a video with ideas and helps with little pups. I bet your Morkie is adorable! 🤗
We'll add it to the list!
Yes, good point, Bethany!
@@HowToTrainADreamDog thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! We really appreciate your support.
Great ideas! How do we know what we can/can’t feed a young puppy? Bringing mine home tomorrow 🐶❤️
At first, just stick to the food the breeder has been using. Slowly transition to a new food, and keep treats to just one new one at a time. Young puppies often have sensitive stomachs. This video will be helpful too: th-cam.com/video/xq44CTuawBA/w-d-xo.html
My pup also used to love carrots when he was younger and now he doesn’t want them at all! He doesn’t like any fruits but he loves lettuce and broccoli.
It's funny how their tastes change as they grow. Sometime in the future he may like carrots again!
I love the convenience and help the licky mat provides but it is HELL to clean. LOL! Am I the only one who thinks so????
A little brush (like a nail brush) is key! Also soak it first!
What able hot hot water running on it over the sink….it will melt most things
So far, my pup likes carrots and some small pieces of frozen pork. His normal kibble and treats will work
That's great!
My pup loves Kong’s and thankfully well behaved with just licking into his kong and not chewing on it. This does also mean there will be some remnants of food in it…not great if I don’t find it or it rolls under the couch and I don’t notice. He’s also lazy and doesn’t finish his kong or lick mat when it gets too hard/too much work.
Haha, yep, you gotta keep track of those. Have you used the West Paw Toppl? For dogs who don't want to work so hard or for young puppies, it's often a better option.
@@HowToTrainADreamDog I Haven’t but if it’s easier and keeps him occupied I’ll have to consider it.
I make my own bone broth for my dogs. Any refrigerated bone broth that isn't gelatinous is not bone broth to me. I'm going to try mushing some veggies and putting them with the warm bone broth then refrigerating them till they solidify. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks for watching!
Should I give the licky mat before bedtime- or is that too late?
Licking is a great cool down before bed. Most of the time you can spread a very small amount of food on the mat, which doesn't interfere with sleeping through the night. You'll need to do some trial and error to find the ideal combination of the right food, the right amount and the right timing.
Can you boil down the left over chunks of elk antlers and make broth from the marrow since they are bones? I'm trying to find a way to not just throw them away since I have a large dog once it hits 2.5in left its unsafe and I need to take it away. I'd love to find a way to be kest wasteful and still let her get the nutrition from the marrow. Even to use it as the broth treats.
It would be best to discuss that with your vet!
Is a puppy kong to small for a cane corso puppy? Mine is almost 12weeks and i am afraid it is to small for him.
We often recommend using the guide on the Kong packaging and then going up one size. So if you're concerned that it's too small for him, it probably is. You can also try a West Paw Toppl which are bigger but also easier for young puppies to work on.
Are snacks ok to provide along with your giving puppy’s daily amount of food? I mean are these snacks just over eating for your dog?? Will they make your puppy overweight if that implemented appropriately?
An idea I had is maybe providing my puppy with a small bell pepper filled with some treats? Maybe a frozen bell pepper? Although I’m not sure what foods are and aren’t safe for dogs? I didn’t know garlic and onion were bad for a dog. 😮
This video can tell you some human foods that dogs often love. Try not to overfeed on snacks, but fruits and vegetables are unlikely to contribute to a weight problem!
@@HowToTrainADreamDog thank you so much for responding 👏 I’ll encourage fruit and veg snacks 👍
If you want to feed treats what ever u give in treats take it out of there food. Ie. I was training my dog on our walk. So therefore he got 3/4 of a cup on kibble tonight instead of his one cup
Our dog does not like peanut butter and not a big fan of pumpkin pie
Just make sure you're offering the pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling. But not all dogs love it.
Thanks!
