Just imagine you are the Austrian emperor, your empire is crashing down by communists and nationalists, and the other powers are discussing the partition of your empire like you were nothing.
@-P3NGU1N Considering how his past "What if everything went perfect for ____" focused on Imperial Russia and Germany, it would make most sense for it to be pre-ww1 Italy.
1848-49: Limited Sardinia-Piedmont victory with Austria keeping its borders but losing its client states (Tuscany, Lucca, etc.) 1859: SP offer Savoy and Nice for French support against Austria and get Lombardy and Venetia, but not all of their demands. 1860s: France is rebuffed when they ask for Savoy and Nice. Italy argues that France did not fulfill Italian demands. International pressure mounts as France starts making threats. A referendum is carried out with British observers and Italy keeps everything. 1861: Italy is unified except Rome 1866: Italy joins the Austro-Prussian war and smh manages to win. S Tyrol, Istria, and Dalmatia are annexed. 1870-71: Italy joins the Franco-Prussian war, against France. France has to give up Corsica. By now Italy is strongly in the Central Powers camp, and will probably be on the winning side of a WW1.
Btw, in your Second World poll, I noticed a lot of problems: - You can't give Memel or Southern East Prussia to the independent Kaliningrad - You can give East Prussia to West Germany even if East Germany is independent - You can't give a Polish province to Lithuania, which would create really disgusting borders if Lithuania got everything around it - No North Epirus - No Turkic Union option - You can't give IRL Tajik lands to Tajikistan - Independent Komi would be an enclave no matter what you do - You can give some provinces to an independent Manchuria, but you can't make Manchuria independent - You also can't give Transamur to Manchuria - You can't give western Gansu to East Turkestan - No Fangchenggang ;( You should probably do a re-run of it (especially given the Manchuria issue)
In Addition - You can't give Bryansk to Ukraine - No Slovene independence question - No option to give Astrakhan to an independent Kalmykia. - You can't give independence to a Siberian state or a Yakut state - No option to give Sakhalin or the Kuril's to Japan - Can't give Inner Mongolia to Mongolia & Many more.
Serbia and Greece will definitely partition what would have been Albania for themselves in the first one, it was Austria who enforced Albanian independence if I remember right. Serbia was already gonna see bigger gains no matter what our votes did to Austria. The Balkans were only one place where Italy sought to expand its borders and/or influence, really. I don't see why having Croatia aligned to them will shut Italy out of picking at the Ottoman rear end. And speaking of Serbia, their pan-Yugoslav movement is now directly obstructed by Italian-supported Croatia and German-controlled Slovenia. I think it's probable that their gains of South Slav territories bring the Germans and Italians into conflict with Serbia's big protector Russia and _their_ ally France.
Depends on when the war starts. If it starts and Britain joins I guesss it would be relatively similar. If Britain doesnt join, then Germany wins without a doubt. Removing Britain basically removes nearly all of the bad things for germany (for example food shortages). On the other hand the entente is really weakened as Britain was not only supplying manpower but also paying for the war effort of the entente. Without Britain there is no submarine warfare and no american entry.
Drifting Britain away from the Franco-Russian pairing is already a huge boon for Germany, which, I think personally outweighs any negative impact of deleting Austria. Britain's blockade was ruinous.
It all depends on Britain. If the UK stays neutral, then Germany can most likely break the French lines within a year or two, which would then basically leave the war as a 1 v 1 between Germany and a stronger Russia, where the Germans would probably still win. If Britain still joins the Entente, then the Russians and Romanians overwhelm the Transylvanian principalities, marches through Hungary, and push the Germans hard on the Eastern Front. The French and British hold the line in the east, while Italy stays neutral. The Germans would be fighting an much more defensive war than in our timeline, and they'll most likely lose. The main difference in this second scenario is that Russia might not have a revolution, since the war would have gone better for them (they probably would've still been pushed backwards, but not as much as in our timeline).
I think it would also be in the interest of germany to strenghten Romania as an ally to open another possible russian front even if temporary in return for the rest of transylvania You also havent talked much about britains and french reactions to this chaos Another question would be how firmily is croatia under italian control (i dunno how the croatian people at the time saw the italians or if they would really be loyal to italy as a puppet. I am also assuming that this new italian royal family in croatia is very popular as being their first independent king in about 1000 years and that was why they were chosen as kings I would also like to know the reaction of the ottomans, since the habsburgs were one of the biggest oponents to their interests in the balkans (maybe a reconquest of serbia?)

I just feel like it would be an interesting scenario, seeing the Muslim Turks absolutely destroying the Christian Kingdoms of that time, it would probably be a similar video to what if everything went perfect for the Habsburgs video.

Personally, I see this as a good thing for Germany, while relations have soured with Russia compared to the past, they are far from truly terrible at this point in time at the loss of Austria could serve as a release valve on tensions. Additionally this Germany lacks the Balkan commitments Austria did with the sole potential exception of Croatia if they manage to expand upon relations with Italy again into a proper alliance to replace Austria. I also dont really see the UK intervening in any war in Europe even if say France or Germany invades Belgium as that was more an excuse to get into the war than a genuine desire to properly protect Belgium especially as it would feed into a nightmare scenario of essentially turning whatever side it joins into the dominant continental power when its much more to British interests to just let both sides weaken each other as much as possible.
Germany does hold Slovenia, this alongside Croatia being in Italy's sphere could create problems with Serbia later on. Croatia's new king may well be this timeline's Franz Ferdinand.
@@gengarzilla1685 Already mentioned Croatia as an exception and potential problem, and Slovenia is well, already pretty Germanized by the time of the WW1 era and I imagine another 30 years would help really cement that, especially with Slovene loyalty to the Habsburgs, especially as any Serb efforts to cause problems would be focused on Croatia, something Serbia would have a far, FAR harder time pulling a Ferdinand moment for due to the unique circumstances involved, especially as I see both Germany and Russia trying to contain any incident from escalating resulting in diplomatic action over war or a very limited largely proxy conflict of a war that is probably nothing more then a border skirmish. Especially as Italy might be more interested in eating Dalmatia for itself than protecting Croatia putting Serbia in a very difficult position for further expansion beyond a division of Croatia with Italy as both Italy and Germany are too strong to stand against alone, and the dream of a Greater Serbia is already achieved severely limiting the radicalism of Serbian expansionism, especially as Russia would have little interest in such things for quite some time as it deals with its never-ending internal issues.

What i mean by this is for the dictatorship system to have survived and for the successor to have been able to do something. maybe have the then president Carrero survive throughout all the chaos of the 70s. I would see logical from germany to try and use his territory on Transilvania to purchase Romanian and Serbian allegiance. I can see germany even helping Greece too ecenomically, and even helping even further the balkans once the belgrade pack forms against thr Bulgarians once the ottomans go puf. Then they surely would go on to try to make italy and Brittan their mjaor allies
Hey Possible History, I would like to offer the Idea of what if Joseph Ferdinand of Bavaria lived enough to rule in pain and prevent the was of Spanish succession, Whatcha think about that?
I think the UK is more likely to stay neutral in WW1 because of this, or even join the Germans which would lead to the US never joining either. Another thing to consider is that Italy had by now basically taken all their claims on Austrian land, meaning they might switch sides to join the Germans. Also, since the war would not start in 1914, due to the fact that Franz Ferdinand would have little reason to be shot in Sarajevo, and just a few years' delay would have meant a drastically different WW1, this is an interesting scenario indeed.
