Such a happy guy as well. Maybe a little crazy, because I think you must have the ability to tap into some craziness on such an epic journey. Kudos to Yaan for not giving up on his childhood dream.
The blunt bow is still used on River Bateau's in France ,its design allowed a boatman to steer and manage the craft.Back then a working boat hauling freight and passengers. Now they can yet be seen now Sailing as pleasure craft with roomy cabins.Another region to use blunt bow was In rivers and swamps of south eastern United States. Some was built separately from main haul to make repairs easier.
Thanks for such a lovely respectful interview. You laughed with Yann, not at him or his dream. Respect to Yann the intrepid sailor from Brittany, and respect to you for such an empowering interview.
I admire people who follow their dreams and make them a reality... no matter how crazy they seem to others! I was very lucky to have met him, a humble and friendly man. Thank you for such a lovely compliment 😊
The thoughtfulness and consideration that has gone into this boat could fill a book! The builder and his boat inspire others to build their own compact, ocean capable sailboats. He is a very clever man and an outstanding sailor, but some look down their noses at small vessels and label their builder as odd or crazy, whereas there's nothing but excellent design and outstanding craftsmanship in this boat. I suspect that many feel insecure that this man built his own boat and then went on to sail it as few had done before or since! Thank you for this interview with a truly remarkable man whom lives life simply at his own pace...
There is something so much more fascinating cos this boat is so small.Makes you question what variables are necessary in the great big equation of happiness.I salute Yann for embracing such an adventure. Not one of the regular sheep. Huge RESPECT.
I totally agree! But we all have a little bit of crazy inside us, he just shows us it’s possible to make your dream a reality no matter what people think.
