@@joeslish-p1pthe only way Stanton gets to second on a ball like that is if he hits it 900 feet into the sky, so Stanton gets a pass for me he just can’t run anymore, if he hovers around a 250 average with around .800 OPS I think thats productive enough to get a slide for his inability to run. As for others I’ve seen it as well, seems like Gleyber is the most frequent offender but wouldn’t be surprised if others get benched for making same mistakes here on out
He got benched and took it like a man. Now if Boone will admit for all the bone head plays on leaving pitchers in too long, not long enough, instead of babying players
As Yankee fans we need to have his back. He the man that is on the field and in the box. He did wrong he knows it. Now let go and move on. I hope this lights a fire in the team.
I’ve hated watching Gleybar play all season long, from his poor defense, to his poor base running decisions, and his overall lack of hustle. Boone did the right thing pulling him out of the game, especially after watching the ball and turning what should’ve been a double (and eventual run) into a single. That being said, he took it on the chin and didn’t make any excuses. He’s capable of so much more. Hopefully this is the kick in the ass that gets him back on track.
I actually am happy he’s hitting the ball well. However this is New York, and I vividly remember these same complaints about hustle being levied against Robinson Cano and Alfonso Soriano.
Gleyber Torres is done. There was so much promise in him when he first came up in 2018 and even 2019. I don’t know what happened since then. He just doesn’t wanna hustle and doesn’t make routine plays. I don’t know what to say.
He doesn't care anymore. Nothing new. A lot of players that could've been great fall off once they've made money. They play the game because they're good at it and for money, not because they love the game. Mike Trout doesn't seem to enjoy playing baseball, at all, he just happened to be really good at it.
Class act with that interview! I feel bad for him. You can tell he was really remorseful. I hope we resign him on a mutually beneficial contract. I’d offer him 2 years 20 mil per.

He took accountability for his actions verbally, so now let's see what he does physically when he gets that chance. This is a good move for him. Unpopular opinion: I know this has not been Gleyber’s best year offensively, defensively, and even base running wise he’s made mistakes but I feel like there’s no need to pile on. The cameras showing him in the dugout looking defeated after he came back out was unnecessary. He keeps getting in his own way and maybe it’s bc of his looming free agency but we know he’s been bad and he knows he’s been bad as well. Not saying we have to cheer and I don’t disagree with him getting taken out of the game but no need to kick him while he’s down. Yankee fans don’t have the class to do that but it would probably help the situation a lot considering how much better he plays when he’s feeling himself
Happy to see Gleyber not making any excuses and worrying about whether or not he felt singled out. Someone needed to be the guy and he's one of the longest tenured guys on the roster. He should be a superstar, but I feel like he's held himself back somehow. I have been a fan of Gleyber since he first game up. Was there where he hit his first career home run. I'm hoping this little thing can be a wake-up call for him. He's an all-star caliber player when his head is right.
He answered those line of questions correctly.
Very professional answer. Learn from your mistake
I know he’s been struggling for most of the season, but Glabor, be proud of yourself you admitted that something was wrong which is very important.
They will never make me hate you gleyber
Hate? A little strong. Disappointed is more like it.
Way to man up, much respect to GT for taking It on the chin
That’s being a pro!
Gleyber is a sweet kid. I don’t understand the lack of effort.
Focus up !!! So much talent !!! Don't waist it!! When Torres is on fire it really can have a huge impact !!! Like him or not !!! We need The Real one in this run!!! I do appreciate he owned it!!!
waste not waist
@@WW3_Soon What r u a Bot?
I am not condoning Torres' lack of hustle on that play but he is not alone on that team. I have seen Soto do the same thing this year without the manager taking him to task.
100%.
It wasn’t just about this one time because if it was that’d be BS. Soto has done it multiple times
Very clever comment!😅
true and stanton and others admiring what they think as a home run and winding up on 1st base when the ball does not go over the fence and never have a word said to them
@@joeslish-p1pthe only way Stanton gets to second on a ball like that is if he hits it 900 feet into the sky, so Stanton gets a pass for me he just can’t run anymore, if he hovers around a 250 average with around .800 OPS I think thats productive enough to get a slide for his inability to run. As for others I’ve seen it as well, seems like Gleyber is the most frequent offender but wouldn’t be surprised if others get benched for making same mistakes here on out
they are trying to resign soto so they wouldnt bench him for lack of hustle for sure - he is in top 10 best hitter in the league
He got benched and took it like a man. Now if Boone will admit for all the bone head plays on leaving pitchers in too long, not long enough, instead of babying players
Hopefully he'll remember this feeling and start hustling from now on
As Yankee fans we need to have his back. He the man that is on the field and in the box. He did wrong he knows it. Now let go and move on. I hope this lights a fire in the team.
multiple times not just once
Ew
I’ve hated watching Gleybar play all season long, from his poor defense, to his poor base running decisions, and his overall lack of hustle. Boone did the right thing pulling him out of the game, especially after watching the ball and turning what should’ve been a double (and eventual run) into a single. That being said, he took it on the chin and didn’t make any excuses. He’s capable of so much more. Hopefully this is the kick in the ass that gets him back on track.
About time
Good guy. Always rooting for him and this benching will serve him well. He's going to go on a massive streak
You might be right, in which case, a master stroke by Boone
Doubt it
I actually am happy he’s hitting the ball well. However this is New York, and I vividly remember these same complaints about hustle being levied against Robinson Cano and Alfonso Soriano.
Both Cano and Soriano could have been HOFers but they didn't hustle. Torres isn't in their league and he can't be bothered to run a little bit.
Gleyber Torres is done. There was so much promise in him when he first came up in 2018 and even 2019. I don’t know what happened since then. He just doesn’t wanna hustle and doesn’t make routine plays. I don’t know what to say.
he's letting the pressure of the contract year get to his head too much. not handling it well at all
Cano Syndrome
He doesn't care anymore. Nothing new. A lot of players that could've been great fall off once they've made money. They play the game because they're good at it and for money, not because they love the game. Mike Trout doesn't seem to enjoy playing baseball, at all, he just happened to be really good at it.
@@Tom-y1j he seems to care, just does not learn.
Well spoken
Class act with that interview! I feel bad for him. You can tell he was really remorseful. I hope we resign him on a mutually beneficial contract. I’d offer him 2 years 20 mil per.
Delusion. Can’t wait for this guy to walk
Super classy. This kid will be a manager one day
Give credit to GT. This guy goes out there and takes questions while he's obviously feeling emotional about the move. He took accountability for his actions verbally, so now let's see what he does physically when he gets that chance. This is a good move for him. Everyone needs to have that flame lit under then from time to time. Let's see if the defense will match the offense.
any more flames and his butt will catch on fire
To all, I'm 68 y/o and still playing Ball... In Senior tournaments we play at the highest-level. I, along with my teammates and our opponents we play and run harder than he does... Translation, To Gleyber..., Come on Papa'.. ! For you, with this amazing chance and the opportunity to be playing in the MBL with one the greatest franchise in the world of Major Sports, you are taking this chance in life for granted. Get dirty by hustling in every at bats and play.... LET'S GO YANKEES2024....!!
Hope this opens his eyes and he balls out the rest of the year. It will benefit his future wherever he lands.
I think this interview was handled very well, he apologized, took accountability, and agreed with Boone’s decision. Tomorrow is an opportunity for this team to start a new winning streak.
lmfao stfu. nice fake profile picture.
He gets paid millions to play a child's game. Gtfo with that BS. He SHOULD feel bad. This is how hes been for YEARS.
Is this your first year of watching baseball or something?
Nobody is kicking him while he's down, he's just being asked questions JFC. If you cant handle questions then you can't handle the big leagues.
he never seems to learn from his mistakes keeps on repeating them
Love the accountability here. Gleyber we all support and believe in you bro, just remember someone may be in the stands seeing you play for the first time, you get to decide how they remember you.
Stay Up Man ☝️
Poor GleyBear. I feel bad for him. every player on that team has made stupid mistakes. why was he benched but not them? Jesus christ Volpe with that incredibly stupid error a couple weeks ago literally costing them the game? tame in comparison to what Gleyber did....
I love how Jarren Duran runs the bases. Things that are typically a single he turns into doubles. You have got to hustle. Heck, in game 162 last season Ozuna missed a HR by like 2" and ended up at 3B. This was a night after he had hit 2 HRs and had hit another one this same night. You get paid to hustle; spectators pay to do the watching.
Yankee fans like him ....he just makes too many mistakes and comes off like he don't care hopefully this wakes him up he's on the chopping block last season he was wanna my favorite Yanks
Hey, he said what he needed to. Respeck. It’s a new day. Light ‘em up, Yankees!
About time you learn Gleyber
This moment right there it tell fans that boone does not have a good handle on this team and is too late. This team will not go far this year
Gleyber is manning up I think people should cut him some slack these professional baseball players got to where they are because they don’t take things for granted he does need to step it up
Total regime change. Start with getting rid of Boone replacing him with Jeter. Bring Donnie baseball in as well
Agreed we need regime change but idk if Derek is up for it
Se veía venir Gleyber, qué pasó con la temporada 2018.
Yup!
2:51 props for not lying there.
I feel for gleybar tbh. U can tell he’s a good dude
Wow !!
Unbelievable how people seem to forget this is like the 20th time gleyber has done something unbelievably bad. He deserves to be booed if he plays again!! Get this horrible player out of the lineup immediately. Been benched multiple times this year and deserved to be DFA multiple times . It’s unbelievable how garbage he is
I’m not a fan really..but he’s a pro and a gentleman. Well said.
my first time listening to him speak, I've never heard him speak before
I’m glad he owned up to it, but this isn’t the first time he’s had this issue. He got benched for lack of hustle a few weeks ago. If he’s going to stay, he needs to keep the mindset
I miss 2018-2019 Gleybor Torres’s
You can just see the happiness and joy in playing ball just isn't there for gleyber... he's struggling
well said, accountability!
Most ER as a 2Bman , no hustle love the old baby bombers but in think this might be Torres last year as a Yankees
Yankee fans have been oddly patient with this fkn guy. He likely knows that, which is why he'll continue to behave this way. If they start booing, he'll wake his azz up.
