This channel has been a huge help!! I've had my Shiba for 6 months now :)

Adopted my first shiba. He's a 6 yr old rescue from a breeding mill. He is definitely a challenge. I'm going to stick to my guns and keep my rules firm. He's a very smart dog. I would like to hope he will come around eventually.

My first Shiba pretty much had every nightmare trait you could expect in a shibe. She was a great learning lesson. My current shiba though? An anomaly. He's been amazing right away, zero rebellious behaviour at all

That second Shiba is a rare pupper!

@@SuperShiba He really is. I feel blessed to have had them both. Momiji taught me to deal with all the worst a Shiba had to offer, so I felt prepared for anything (absolutely loved her by the way, I say worst traits cause it's true but there was so much to love about her too and she taught me so much), so when I got Senpai I almost has a 'plan' set to give him the proper structure growing up and... Never need to do any of it. Within a month of having him he already knew over 10 different tricks, never an accident in the house, very well behaved and calm, doesn't bark doesn't cry, the only thing he hates is nail clipping and honestly if that's the only thing I'll take it! He even lets me bath him without issue.
I do kinda miss how Momoji would cry and whine whenever I gave her a treat for like 3 minutes before eating it. It was really cute and her way of showing appreciation haha.

Wow! Sounds like my experience as well…I had an almost 18yr old Shiba that like you said had every nightmare trait as well. And more lol
My 1 yr old is the sweetest best well behaved yet protective Shiba I could ever imagine. Pure LOVE ❤️🐾

My second Shiba just turned a year. My first passed away 2 years ago at almost 18 yrs old. Completely different animals. My first one Tori hated everyone and was challenging at almost everything. We loved her though ofcourse and she taught me so much. My new one is a complete opposite.
So loveable and just a dream.
I knew though that we didn’t do things quite right the first time around. Love the breed!!! Love my 1 yr old sooo much!!!❤️🐾

Thank you for this. I will keep this in mind for my Shiba. Do you have any tips for walking them though? As I do not want to put a prong collar or shock collar on him. But he pulls and gets distracted so easily.

There is also the " rule of food and doorbell" when you want a shiba to come.
whe our shiba reuses to go for a walk , we ring the door bell and she runs to the door to see who it is . then we can grab her and put her on a leash .😂

I brought home my cream shiba kiba home in September. And tonight I found out about the controversy about cream /white shiba inus and it simply made my kiba more endearing to me then ever.

I just bought a shiba pup. He’s 7 weeks old and I don’t get him until next week. So excited and also very curious to see how different this breed is compared to my other dogs I’ve had. Love your videos and will keep all your points in mind. I’m sure they will help.

    WONDERFUL VIDEO!
“A tired Shiba is a good Shiba.” Words to live by, especially through their “terrible twos,” for my Shibas that was from 6 months to about 28 months of age. They destroyed so much furniture and so many shoes, because my roommate wouldn’t exercise them when I was away for work….
As to training, each dog is different, but Shibas have ADHD, and can only maintain concentration for five to ten minutes most days; so only work on a trick for five minutes (ten max if your Shiba still seems to be paying attention) and always finish on a positive note, even if that positive note is doing an old trick the pupper already knows well because they aren’t getting the new trick yet. Remember, you can work on the trick again later the same day, but you don’t want training to ever be a bad experience for the dog… especially one as smart as a Shiba.
