Friday we finally picked up Akira our female Shiba Inu puppy and I really have to say that I'm totally fascinated by this breed! I particularly love the fact that she can be for herself without any problem! She loves being with us but sometimes she goes to her bed in the other room and sleeps or plays with her chew toys without us being around!
We have another dog and I had other dogs in the past but I've never seen something like this before!
    Shibas are just awesome!
I noticed already that she learns things very quicky but uses her own mind and not always want to apply what she has learnd so it will need some hard work outside propably:)
Thanks for all those videos they are super helpful!
    Greetings from Switzerland!

Congratulations on the new puppy and thanks for sharing ! Yes Shiba Inu is definitely a unique breed and has a mind of its own. Like you mentioned, she learns fast and she knows most command but might choose to not follow for her own reasons. As long as you pay attention to her response to your training/ques and spend lots of time to play and bond with her it is going to be the best experience you've ever had. Enjoy👍

Where did you get your playpen? Please let me know!

      Jimmy’s playpen - amzn.to/37X8a5p
We actually use baby gates as playpen. The vendor doesn’t have brown color anymore so the link is for white color only.

    hi it's me again
i have two more questions regarding the environment we'd be raising the shiba puppy
we have two (small) cats, could that cause problems in the future? i've heard that even after training they can be aggressive to cats
we also have a seven year old child in the house, would that ever be an issue? our only worry is that the kid will tug on the dog, but we can tell him not to do that

Hi, from our personal experiences, typically cat does not like dog. In a few instances where our dog jimmy encounter a cat, Jimmy would want to play but the cat would snapped at him. I also hear stories about dog and cat become best friend so I don’t think there is a one rule fits all when it comes to relationships between a dog and a cat.
Shiba Inu in general is good with young children. However, no matter how close you are with your dog, never let a dog and a young child alone without supervision. Always keep an eye on them and interrupt when necessary. Good luck!

It is not so easy to make a Shiba inu obedient, especially a male Shiba-inu. However, if you try to continue to pretend as if you were a stern father of your Shiba inu, it would be easier to train him. As for my dog, he must believe as if I were his true father. That is why I can't betray him at any cost, needless to say.

do you let Jimmy wear harness all day?

    • @SuperShiba
      @SuperShiba  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Tim, thanks for the comment and welcome to the channel. We always remove harness when Jimmy comes home from walk. Although it probably doesn’t make a big difference but we thought he would be more comfortable without harness. Hope this helps 👍🏻

@@SuperShiba thank you, i have a 3.5 month puppy. Right now i keep collar on him so that i can leash him immediately for potty breaks or walks.
I wanted to do harness eventually but getting puppy to wear harness 12-16 times a day is a tough task if i need to rush him out the door to potty ( i live in 2nd floor apt.)
