Most of them are based on the Fiero chassis for the mid-engine, you can swap the motor out though. I have a SC 3800 but a lot of people use a small block V8 as well.

I had the exact same kit but ended up selling it before I finished it. I learned a ton from my experience with my kit and I have great respect for anyone who get's one of these on the road. Even with all the quirks and sketchy results! As the former owner of a 1986 Fiero, you got a few things wrong. It's a 5 speed, not a 4 speed. The engine is GM's corporate 2.8L V6 that was used in a LOT of both FWD and RWD cars and trucks. Very reliable engine, but impossible to work on in the Fiero. And it was the 2.5L "Iron Duke" four cylinder that had the so called "fire" issue that turned out to be false. Why would you pay $300 for a POS like that and then invest $300 more in it when you will probably have to pay at least $500 for a junkyard to come and haul it off? About $1100 down the drain for a 13 minute video.
The v6 was not known for fires, the 4 cylinder Fiero had a few fires (134 fires out of 250K 4 cylinders produced). They had magnesium engine grilles, and when the fires started that magnesium burned eventually and got so hot that it was almost impossible to extinguish, the molten magnesium would literally melt the car.
Having watched it....its actually WAY too shit to be a Lemons car. The amount of work it would take to pass tech would be more then it was to fix the real lambos...

It was the "Iron Duke" 4 cylinder in the 84, and base model 85- that burned, they were recalled and heat shielding was installed, but many burned. They went to that 2.8 liter V6 in the 85 SE, which I had, it used the original body, it was also used in the 85-88 GT with the Aero Body.
I also had a early Jeep Cherokee with the 2.8 GM V6 and 5 speed. I bought it new and had 276,xxx miles on it when I gave it to my nephew. I never experienced any breakdowns with it and it still had the original starter and alternator on it when I gave it to him. I literally just put tires , shocks , brakes and changed oil and tune ups on it in the 15 years I drove it. It was slow but off road it was amazing
The 4-cylinder models were known for fires, and only the first ones. The V-6 fieros never had that problem unless they were neglected. I've owned 6 Fieros and none caught fire.
hans hoogendyk b is for build is doing something completely different. He’s putting an ls in a real huracan chassis with other real lambo parts. Imagine taking a crappy fiero with a crappy lambo body kit and putting a real lambo drivetrain in it and other real lambo parts
Front end doesn't look bad honestly. Swap the motor for a V8, fix the rear end, repair some of the horrible bodywork, paint it red and you have a nice looking fake lambo

A little Fiero trivia. Tavares has mentioned the 2.8 was known to catch fire. That is not really correct. First year Fieros, 1984, had a gap between the rear window and the deck lid. Leaves and debris would gather there and fall down on the front manifold and the leaves would catch fire. Pontiac fixed that by adding a wide piece of weatherstripping between the rear window and deck lid.

got a buddy whos dad got 4 "kit cars" similar to this, the onlything really wrong with them all was the doors didnt close properly, but, not because they couldnt be made to work properly, they had to use a door hanger kit from a proper shop, and it takes time... they are all nice cars, they sold 2 and kept the better 2, all are easier to work on then a genuine, turned out they used big blocks when they made them rather then exotic engines... heh... thing is, we all agreed, even after having gotten to drive a real one, the kit car versions they ended up totally rebuilding with some nice upgrades like proper LED lighting and such, not just cheap shoddy bulb replacements, anyway, hell, the guy at the dealership who helped re-hang the doors bought the 2 he didnt keep, "these are alot better then the few we have seen, where did you get them?" he got them on a business trip to the EU from a business contact, who knew a guy who had them, and others he just enjoyed building them from kits, but needed room in his garage for new projects... and let him pick, funny part i take it the guy is wealthy but... hasnt bought the right tools for some of the jobs he does... like hanging those doors... because they all closed and latched by the end of the day... one took them quite a few tries till one of the older techs showed up... pointed out you had to so something a bit dif with the style on that one, showed them and... then found out they were gonna sell the owner 2 of them.. "im gonna talk to him... i want a new project car, and this one looks fun" also, they all passed safety inspection, and are... if anything over built... he didnt just slap a body kit on random cars... he built from the frame out and up, the real one a fellow we know got a good deal on, has much less comfortable seating, thats not stock but has race restraints... he got a good deal on it and knows how to work on it himself, he was a mechanic for the company before he moved to the states, the laughing as he drove the knockoff that sounded like the old muscle car at its heart, sad part, his has an auto trans, the knockoffs are all manual... and better for it... now, as i told him...i want to see them take the one they blew the engine on a few months later(at the track), and make it either electric or hybrid, its got room for batteries and a generator, they could make a hell of a beast out of it... hell... i been wondering how a wankle driven generator would do powering a high power electric motor... i have seen a couple small kit motors out of china and korea in the last few years that got me thinking... "since theres not a huge load on the motor i bet this little thing could drive the generator head off that blown honda the guy across the way has sitting in his scrap heap"... would have to be better then the electric farm trucks i have driven over the years... that had to have a transmission... the motors could only go so fast safely... shifting allowed them to reach highway speeds (max around 78mph down hill wind behind you...going into that.. 45at best ) but, this things from the 60's and still runs to this day.. off lead acid batteries.. its mostly just a "Farm truck" as it has always been... (Still fun to drive even though its not fast, is cramped and... has always sounded like its falling apart.. my whole life...
The Fiero can be pretty bad ass, nearly 50 50 front to rear weight distribution, and while I was in the Inland Northwest Fiero Club, I saw one with a Cadillac Northstar V8, Cadillac Allante Intake. It was crazy fast and gripped the road like Velcro.
Seriously almost any semi functioning car for $300 is a win.

hans hoogendyk b is for build is doing something completely different. He’s putting an ls in a real huracan chassis with other real lambo parts. Imagine taking a crappy fiero with a crappy lambo body kit and putting a real lambo drivetrain in it and other real lambo parts
Front end doesn't look bad honestly. Swap the motor for a V8, fix the rear end, repair some of the horrible bodywork, paint it red and you have a nice looking fake lambo

10:50 "known for fires" is wrong. The Iron Duke 4cyl had a short dipstick, leading to low oil and fire. The 2.8 V6 in this car is just fine.

A little Fiero trivia. Tavares has mentioned the 2.8 was known to catch fire. That is not really correct. First year Fieros, 1984, had a gap between the rear window and the deck lid. Leaves and debris would gather there and fall down on the front manifold and the leaves would catch fire. Pontiac fixed that by adding a wide piece of weatherstripping between the rear window and deck lid.

got a buddy whos dad got 4 "kit cars" similar to this, the onlything really wrong with them all was the doors didnt close properly, but, not because they couldnt be made to work properly, they had to use a door hanger kit from a proper shop, and it takes time...
they are all nice cars, they sold 2 and kept the better 2, all are easier to work on then a genuine, turned out they used big blocks when they made them rather then exotic engines... heh... thing is, we all agreed, even after having gotten to drive a real one, the kit car versions they ended up totally rebuilding with some nice upgrades like proper LED lighting and such, not just cheap shoddy bulb replacements, anyway, hell, the guy at the dealership who helped re-hang the doors bought the 2 he didnt keep, "these are alot better then the few we have seen, where did you get them?" he got them on a business trip to the EU from a business contact, who knew a guy who had them, and others he just enjoyed building them from kits, but needed room in his garage for new projects... and let him pick, funny part i take it the guy is wealthy but... hasnt bought the right tools for some of the jobs he does... like hanging those doors... because they all closed and latched by the end of the day... one took them quite a few tries till one of the older techs showed up... pointed out you had to so something a bit dif with the style on that one, showed them and... then found out they were gonna sell the owner 2 of them.. "im gonna talk to him... i want a new project car, and this one looks fun"
also, they all passed safety inspection, and are... if anything over built... he didnt just slap a body kit on random cars... he built from the frame out and up, the real one a fellow we know got a good deal on, has much less comfortable seating, thats not stock but has race restraints... he got a good deal on it and knows how to work on it himself, he was a mechanic for the company before he moved to the states, the laughing as he drove the knockoff that sounded like the old muscle car at its heart, sad part, his has an auto trans, the knockoffs are all manual... and better for it...
now, as i told him...i want to see them take the one they blew the engine on a few months later(at the track), and make it either electric or hybrid, its got room for batteries and a generator, they could make a hell of a beast out of it...
hell... i been wondering how a wankle driven generator would do powering a high power electric motor... i have seen a couple small kit motors out of china and korea in the last few years that got me thinking... "since theres not a huge load on the motor i bet this little thing could drive the generator head off that blown honda the guy across the way has sitting in his scrap heap"... would have to be better then the electric farm trucks i have driven over the years... that had to have a transmission... the motors could only go so fast safely... shifting allowed them to reach highway speeds (max around 78mph down hill wind behind you...going into that.. 45at best ) but, this things from the 60's and still runs to this day.. off lead acid batteries.. its mostly just a "Farm truck" as it has always been... (Still fun to drive even though its not fast, is cramped and... has always sounded like its falling apart.. my whole life...

The Fiero can be pretty bad ass, nearly 50 50 front to rear weight distribution, and while I was in the Inland Northwest Fiero Club, I saw one with a Cadillac Northstar V8, Cadillac Allante Intake. It was crazy fast and gripped the road like Velcro.
