Drum heads look brand new I couldn’t see any drumstick marks lol !! Yes a cordless drill is so much quicker and should be wearing gloves!! Why do something more than 2 times when setting up kit with gloves No finger marks on hardware or the shell !! Great video and yeah drum tech or guitar tech is a lot of work and can be rewarding to work for popular artists
Such a cool video. So much to learn, seems like such a cool job to be doing. So much to know about the drums, I use an e-kit so know basically nothing about how an actual kit gets setup so this was really insightful.
Go for it mate! Start getting your name out there. My honest advice is to do it for friends for free for a little while. Make yourself really vital! Once you have more experience & knowledge, start approaching others & getting your name into people’s minds when they need someone 🙏
I always had foam/glue residues on my rims when i used Hardcases, looks like you`ve got the same problem! That was 15 years ago in my case, i wonder how they got away with it for so long...
@@AshStGreen Thanks for answering me. Unable to find it in Europe, I ordered this one: NEEWER ST25C Super Clamp with Magic Arm Kit. It looks the same at least.
How do you know how different drummers like their set up? Do you know beforehand or is that something you learn as the tour goes on. Memory locks obviously do a lot of heavy lifting but cymbal angles, tom angles...all that jazz.
Great question mate! Memory locks are the real way to go! I tend not to adjust too much when packing down, so that when I have to build, it’s still the same as the day before! Unless the artist wants something changed ofc 🙏
@AshStGreen Thanks for answering. Much appreciated. Makes total sense and not something I'd considered. Sat and watched the entirety of you building Ali's kit. Loved it.
intricate set up -
unreal vid man, love watching drum tech POV's
The most accurate part of this video regardless of where you working within the music industry is the sighing and long breathes 😂
Ahahaha - the constant reminder of “oh yeah, I have to breath” 😂
@ being so on task and focused and your like oh shit. I wondered why I was light headed 😂
Wooow, this is going to be a very helpful video for me, thanks, Ashley!
I'm so glad!

But there's also so much to set up with electronic drums that I know nothing about! Glad you enjoyed this mate, thanks for the lovely comment!
I’d love to be a tech I’m always watching matts videos such a nerd for it I just don’t even know how to make a start in the industry.

What brand are the mic arms on the snare and kick?
Those are SmallRigs - they are some of the best solutions for snare top & kick out imo 🙏 Joel Adams (FOH from Australia) got me onto them!
