- I got this Evercade off eBay, listed as 'Doesn't turn on'.
Let's see if my dumb brain can work out how to make that not so.
Warning: This video will make you shout at the screen, call me an idiot but at least it will remind you that I'm not an expert in ANYTHING, just someone who is learning by doing. Don't copy me, I mistake a lot.

Thank you! There was a lot of dumb in this video but I decided to keep it in, so people can learn from the stupidity haha.
It’s just so weird that somehow the battery protection board influenced the display behaviour, the symptoms really don’t match the solution!

@@ScottMadeAThing I'd say there was zero stupid on show here. Good bit of troubleshooting I'd say. I do wonder if it is the voltage regulator on the battery acting up.
That’s what I would guess too, maybe overheating and busting a cap or resistor as a result. If the batteries were a common size then I’m sure hundreds [citation needed] of Evercades in the world could be fixed quite easily.
The dumb was when I tested the device using two depleted batteries, expecting it to work and one of the times not even giving it enough time to charge up. I was actually getting annoyed with myself when I was editing it haha.
These things are otherwise built well in my limited experience, they feel quite serviceable. I wonder how many ‘won’t turn on’ or ‘won’t display anything’ Evercades on eBay for ‘parts’ just need a new battery 😂
