Yayyyyy it feels so good when your one fav TH-camr mentions your other fav TH-cam channel ❤❤❤ I have been following Emma Louise and loving her videos a lot!! You both are my favorites!! 💯
Great comparison! I knew right away that traditional metal braces were best for me. My ortho recommended clear aligners, but made it clear that the results were dependent on my compliance. I know myself too well! Although I am a bit older than others with braces, I don't mind how visible they are. The end result will be a beautiful smile!
THIS! I was given the same options & metal is the best option for me. I, too, know myself and I don’t need a chance to not be accountable with something like this.
I got metal braces for several reasons. 1: it was cheaper for me in the long run 2: my crowding so was bad, my ortho said the Invisalign wasn't an option for me
In Luxembourg my current lingual braces cost me 9,000.00 EUR. You were very right with regards of tongue pain, I had lots of pain indeed. Luckily I have the wax.
I have ceramic on top and it doesn't stain at all. My co-worker got her braces from a different Orthodontist though and hers look a lot more yellow than mine. I was actually going to go with metal on top and bottom because of this until I saw the receptionist at my Orthodontist office with the white brackets and hers looked nice. I've had mine for a year and no staining. The bands can stain though. At my orthodontist there wasn't a big price difference so that didn't factor into the decision. I have metal on bottom because of my bite. I would have had to have more turbos if I wanted ceramic and she said it would probably be uncomfortable. I am happy I went with her advice. With the way I smile you can see much of my lower teeth anyway. I like the ceramic on top because they look less bulky, less metal mouth, even though the ceramic brackets are actually larger. Invisalign would have been expensive for me and wouldn't have been the best for correcting my cross bite. Also, I had worked to reverse my early signs of gum disease and I was very wary of having plastic pushed up against my gums 22 hours a day, for two years. I was also worried I would take them in and out. Lingual braces were out of the question. Never came up in the consult because she knew I was barely able to afford normal braces. Those are so incredibly expensive. I think they start at about $9,000. Just if anyone was wondering.
recent subscriber here. Love your videos. I'm a 36 year old male getting ready to get braces for the first time. My orthodontist gave me a choice of three different kinds of mounts. I'm opting for the lowest profile and most efficient. I don't care how visible they are. I want them to be as comfortable as possible and work as effectively as possible.
I am so GLAD that I didn’t go with aligners. I have classic metal braces on upper and lower arches. My teeth are moving faster and I can drink coffee and wine and I don’t have to worry about staining. I just brush my teeth immediately after and I’m good to go. Plus, clear brackets and aligners are more expensive. Why try to hide you have braces? Just go with it and follow the instructions of your orthodontist and you can get them off early!
i havent got these, and im getting metal braces, but im still gonna watch it, and i live in england and braces are free, so i dont need to be watching this, but im a good subscriber:)
I'm in the London (UK) and it was £4k for metal braces and £4.5k for ceramic/clear braces for me. I pay nearly £200 each visit which is usually 4-6 weeks.
@@kalkidanalema2276 they’ve been really effective so far! It was weird to talk for about a week, but you get used to it quickly! Occasionally the movements after adjustments would bring the slight lisp back for a day or two. I have ceramic braces on my bottom teeth and the linguals on top. I’d say the soreness is about the same after adjustments. In terms of how much your mouth gets cut up from either style of braces, I personally think the linguals are way more comfortable!
@@tanahgreeno5749 where I live, if you do a full set (upper and lower) of lingual braces it’s $10,000. My ortho does the incognito by 3m brand of lingual braces. I did a mix, I have linguals on my top teeth, and ceramic braces on my bottom teeth.
I wanted to have invisible braces / Invisalign when I was younger but I couldn’t because the cost of braces was a bit too high for my parents? What is the cost of braces now? What’s the difference in cost between Invisalign and traditional braces?
I have ceramic (clear) braces for BOTH top and bottom teeth. When I was a kid I constantly had reactions to nickel, and so I thought I was allergic to nickel (turned out I wasn’t) and my orthodontist recommended Invisalign first but then she gave instructions to try out ceramic braces first to see if I had an reaction (in which that case I didn’t!!). These braces are a tad bit bigger than metal braces, they can easily point out food in your mouth, and yes they are less noticeable from far away and in your memory (BUT STILL NOTICEABLE). Honestly they do work the same way as they do with metal braces but to remove ceramic braces, the orthodontist will actually have to BREAK the bracket into shards in order to remove it. That’s really the only difference that I know and yes if you get ceramic braces, you will have to have metal brackets in the back regardless of if you want a complete clear set or not.
I care about both visibility and price since i’m an adult, but price might be slightly more important to me. I think clear braces are as pricy as I’d want to go.
I've had lingual braces on my upper teeth and regular clear ones on my lower teeth for almost 3 years now. I can for sure say that in my experience, the regular ones have been more irritating and hurting my mouth than the lingual ones. My guess is that the skin inside the mouth and lips is more sensetive than the tounge. The downside of the lingual ones is that some words are harder to pronounce (in my language at least), harder to clean properly and EVERYTHING gets stuck! Just rinse your mouth 2 or 3 times after meals and then floss. Yes it's more expensive but sooo worth it.
I have had my braces in for almost a year it will be a year in September and also had a expander in for like 10 months due to covid I had a big gap between the top and bottom of my teeth that my whole pinky finger could fit between it I have improved so much with the regular metal braces and I honestly love them I only hated the expander because I had the tongue thing to block your tongue from pushing my teeth out because that was where I placed my tongue I pushed them against my top teeth which resulted in a huge over bit
Could you do a video on open bite and the treatment options. I've had 3 separate consults with different treatment options. I need some additional info and TH-cam is lacking on information about this. Really enjoy your videos!
Dr. I have a question! So I am 22 years old and have had braces for 14 months. I recently went to my regular dental check up and my Dr said I have some bone loss and recommend me to take my braces off. What should I do? Should I be concerned?
Just got my top braces and subscribed to your channel, great stuff. But can I have question for maybe the next episode? What's your take on Self-ligating braces like Damon or 3M Clarity Ultra? Are they really faster than regular braces? Are there any important pros-cons?
I got clear on top and metal on the bottom because of Emma Louise! I figured, the upper teeth are more visible when smiling and the price difference was 50 dollars between them.
Windrift Hill goatmilk body butter IS THE BEST THING EVER. I was a Waitress with bloody cracking knuckles in 20 percent humidity in a high desert and it had me healed in THREE DAYS. Get unscented or relaxing so there are no fragrances to burn irritated skin, and use olay bar soap. I don't work for them or get any commissions, but this pandemic was murdering my hands and I have huge empathy for everyone in a similar situation. They sell it at..whole foods in Montana at least, and online.
I wanted the clear/ceramic braces😢, but my doc said my case was soooooo bad that my only option was the regular metal braces and I ended up wearing them for 5 years plus an extra year of clear aligners and veneers for a gap that continued to stick around for dear life. I probably would have had to wear a headgear if I got braces back in the 60s-70s since I basically was made to feel like my teeth was the worst teeth in the world.
I had the option of clear or metal braces. I decided to get metal since clear ones are still noticable, so why not just get normal metal ones and not risk getting stains. I'm supposed to get mine off in the fall, and I'll be starting grade 12. If you're a bit older, then I think getting clear braces might be more important to you
No offense to anyone out there who has Invisalign but my brother has Invisalign and it does not look invisible at all to me he has these clear attachments things that are orthodontist calls “buttons” and he has these metal “buttons”on his Caine teeth to help put the rubber bands on better which he never wears but when he does where them they are definitely not invisible either and it’s also kinda gross because you can see spit build up under his Invisalign
First I wanted invisalign but my ortho said for my case braces would be better since I had a significant overbite to fix and it would be harder to tweak the treatments for my case with just invisalign. So then I researched clear or ceramic braces and almost got them but saw videos of people complaining about how bulky, fragile, and slower they are to move teeth. So now I think I'm getting traditional metal braces but I just hate how visible they are. I wish there was an option to get full ceramic damon braces (that don't require any of the colored ties) on both the top and bottom teeth but even so there are no providers where I live :( and I also know orthodontists usually don't put ceramic on the bottom because they are already more fragile as it is but a girl can dream.
@@msheartface5288 that's awesome. My orthodontist said they wouldn't do ceramic on both the top and bottom because of my bite since it would break really easily. I wish I could too :(
We are the exclusive USA lab provider for the Alias lingual system, which is a straight wire system with a self-ligating square slot bracket. Great results with good torque control and short appointment times
I’m in Hawaii so prices will likely vary, but I just got traditional braces on top for right now, eventually though I’ll have linguals put on the bottom. So for me, my canine teeth are impacted and there was some wear on the bottom so my ortho said he’d recommend traditional for the top and lingual on bottom. The total though was about $7000, but my insurance paid $2500 of it so ultimately I’m paying about $4500 for my treatment. I wasn’t really concerned with looks. Honestly I’d rather do both top and bottom traditional than do half and half, especially because I have a deep bite as well so all you’ll see are the traditional ones anyway, but it’s whatever.
I got metal braces when I was a kid and then got lingual braces as an adult my teeth ended up being great. The orthodontist also placed permanent retainers to ensure as little movement as possible but an issue that I’ve had is that my night time retainers broke and I’m wondering if I should just get the treatment again? For a third time? By the way my treatment was 10,000 dollars
Thank you for this video, much appreciated! My ortho has put ceramic braces just 2 days ago on both my top and bottom teeth... I have a slight overbite that needs to be corrected so he’s also put mouth bite blocks ontop of my back teeth of which i’m guessing to protect the bottom brackets. I was going to choose traditional metal but last minute, changed to damon clear braces but my ortho clinic didn’t have any in stock so I then finally decided to go with ceramic braces instead... still unsure whether I made the right choice as I have been very indecisive due to braces having their own pros and cons. I would like to ask when do you start seeing some changes to your teeth with ceramic braces and how much longer is the treatment compared to metal? And in regards to the bite blocks, how long do they stay on for? I find them quite uncomfortable when I eat.
I had a consultation and had decided to get the invisalign. I have a lot of spacing from teeth that never came in. I honestly only wanted to fix the front teeth where I had a cap and need to be fixed. My dentist said I needed braces first. I didn't want the metal braces due to my age, but insurance doesnt pay that much so might reconsider. I was also told to get the invisalign I would have to pay for bbn top and bottom even if I only wanted top fixed
I am getting braces in 2 days so I am on a braces marathon right now and a lot of people say it is really painful and I was wondering do you have any tips to make the pain go away and foods to eat incase it is really painful for me?
Can you please make a video discussing rotational wedges? My lateral incisors have barely rotated in 6 months of treatment and I'm wondering if it's worth talking to my ortho about having them.
I’m in the end phase of braces, and got my impressions done for the retainers, with braces on. Is this something that’s normal? Or should they have done the impressions after my braces were off? Sadly, I don’t trust my orthodontist and I didn’t think of it until I overheard the assistance make a comment saying why do the impressions if my braces were still on. Any insight would be much appreciated!
here in the Philippines, having visible braces makes you stand out because people think you have the money to afford dental braces. so yeah, metal braces instead.
When I started my treatment I was getting ceramic braces and minutes before I changed to metal braces because I heard they stain and sometimes hurt when coming off. And I noticed that the mini braces were a better fit because I have small teeth.
Doc Greg, does brace wire need to be change every appointment? because my orthodentist didnt change my wire since feb to july. im worried since i pay for it. hope u notice this:
Hi. As a RDH i don't recommend this method of inside brases it is so hard to maintain an everyday cleaning rutine and it realy gets nasty when cleaning
can you do a video on tongue crib because i thrust my tongue i’ve done it since i was a baby i’m now 16 and i have gaps between all my front teeth i don’t have braces yet and my insurance won’t cover it because it’s considered “beauty “
Wouldn't it be possible with the clear aligners, to sand the frontal outside a tiny bit with ultra fine sandpaper, to make them matte and thus even more invisible?
Is having a class 2 bite after getting your braces removed a bad thing? That's what my orthodontist said I'd settle into. But I'm really concerned how it will be in the long term
Can you please make a video on Bite Turbos. I have posterior turbos on my molars, and I have no idea how long I will have them on my teeth. I would like to know typically how long do people have to have them on and what's the purpose of them, are they just so your brackets don't hit one another, or is there other reasons for it?
i’m doing aligners right now, but have been needing follow up aligners after my treatment has been “finished.” they’ve moved my teeth a lot (smiledirectclub) but i wonder if my bad crossbite is causing them to not work fully. i can’t afford an orthodontist and my mother never thought i needed to fix my bite. i feel so helpless as an adult for my bite and jaw alignment. my jaw cracks and my bite is so uncomfortable and crossed. :(
Hi I was wondering if you could do a video on elastics and the different ways a ortho could make you wear them like for example my elastics right now are on my canines and in a triangle. I also have the elastics with a tortoise on the outside. They are "heavy" and the tortoise is green.
Thanks for the informative video my question: does the orthodontist make digital analysis and records to document the case as 3d intraoral scan and 3d xray and track the progress of the treatment digitally?
I’m 38 and I’m finally seeing an orthodontist next month. I have to get my baby k9’s pulled. And my adult k9’s anchored and pulled down. I doubt I will have an option. I bet it’s going to be expensive, painful, and I’m going to look silly.
@@DrGregAsatrian are you also going to answer our questions from the live video? I was still wondering if it is true that removing only 1 tooth and then pulling everything together would cause the very last tooth to begging to erupt.
I tried Smile Direct and now my bite is off. My teeth on the right side don't really touch so it's really weird to chew. I wanted to avoid braces due to work but I had never heard of lingual braces. I'm wondering if Lingual braces can correct this and what's the typical cost?
Do invisalign really works like the metal braces ? Can anyone be a candidate? I use to have braces but I never finish the treatment. My teeth are pretty much align and good except for a bottom tooth slightly not aligned. I'm assuming 6 months with invisalign it would be 100% perfect but I'm not a dentist to know for sure. Do you have to wear retainers for the rest of your life after the treatment is over? Do you have to wear it all day or only when going to sleep?
My opinions- why do people want to hide their braces!! They are cute and they are not nerdy or for dumb people they are cute a stylish even ones without color!!! But it is all about opinion but I say if I have braces embrace you new look it’s beautiful don’t try to hide it.
Can you please make a video on teeth reshaping after braces? My teeth are all okay but it would be lovely if my canines weren't so pointed. Can i ask for my teeth to be reshaped and will it hurt?
Can someone get braces or aligners with a missing upper second premolar? It got pulled and the person is not interested in any replacement for it..thanks?
Really depends on where you are in treatment. In some cases, the postponing of adjustments didn't affect treatment length much, but it may have for others!
Quick question. I have a 12 month program but Im at month 7. I thought it would be pushed back due to Corona but I already have power chains on 4 teeth together. Is this good?
I have wanted to always know this: so like my teeth are back but only my 4 front teeth and I do not have a underbite. The dentist said I need braces, is that right? It might not make sense if I does not! Nevermind 🤣
Haha impossible for me to tell from just that but I recommend seeing an ORTHODONTIST who are the specialist in moving teeth =] They should be able to let you know what the best plan is !
Hello doc, i got my braces without extraction bcause theres enough space to moving the teeth. Everything is going well, my problem is solved, but my upper midline is still sideways about 0,3-0,5 not straight with the bottom, is it ok? Or it must be straight?
Hello, how much student debt will you have at the end of all the schooling to become an orthodontist? Is it true that it could take 1M$ to become an orthodontist? Thanks!😅
Had bonding on 2 upper front teeth because I had gap. Is it difficult to remove bonding which by the way is discolored. Will my teeth underneath be discolored when bonding is removed
I chose the clear braces, but now that I have the power chains, I wish I had just went ahead with metal braces. I did not have the clear power chains placed because I was told that they would turn colors by the second week, so I got the silver power chains. Just should have saved myself 100.00 total and got the metal braces. My question is, can I ask for metal braces for the lower teeth (to be put in next week) since they are more sturdy or do I have to stick with the clear?
When I got my braces, I cared more about price, effectiveness, & length of treatment which ended up being metal braces!
good that you put your values out there and had that conversation w/ your orthodontist!

I have ceramic on top and bottom
Less Waste KY Home so do I 🤷🏻♀️
@@jessa.4529 do you have an overbite? And do u have any issues with the brackets breaking? I can't find any places that do ceramic on top and bottom
@@msheartface5288 that's awesome. My orthodontist said they wouldn't do ceramic on both the top and bottom because of my bite since it would break really easily. I wish I could too :(
is it weird that my braces pain feels like my teeth are itchy ??
Price I got mine for 3k for 2 years. I still have them and I’ve had them for 7 months now
that's great! I hope you're enjoying them!
We are the exclusive USA lab provider for the Alias lingual system, which is a straight wire system with a self-ligating square slot bracket. Great results with good torque control and short appointment times
How do you feel about FASTBRACES?
Can you talk about the Damon system braces? The difference
Hey. Can you make a video about Torque and the tools to achieve it? Please it would be so interesting
I have a problem about my teeth ..i dunno what should i do.. Can you help.. Or gives advice what should i do.. Pls notice me..
Love the intro!
in the uk the NHS gives free braces to under 16 years
I am getting braces in 2 days so I am on a braces marathon right now and a lot of people say it is really painful and I was wondering do you have any tips to make the pain go away and foods to eat incase it is really painful for me?
Can you please make a video discussing rotational wedges? My lateral incisors have barely rotated in 6 months of treatment and I'm wondering if it's worth talking to my ortho about having them.
Hi, I have a question. Wondering if you could explain to me what palatal expanders are and if they're any different from metal braces and invisalign ?
I’m in the end phase of braces, and got my impressions done for the retainers, with braces on. Is this something that’s normal? Or should they have done the impressions after my braces were off? Sadly, I don’t trust my orthodontist and I didn’t think of it until I overheard the assistance make a comment saying why do the impressions if my braces were still on. Any insight would be much appreciated!
Leeheeah good point and please reply Dr G !
Thanks for the great information. Could you do a video on scissor bites and how they can be corrected. Thanks!!!
here in the Philippines, having visible braces makes you stand out because people think you have the money to afford dental braces. so yeah, metal braces instead.
Sometimes we don't change wires if they are still active. It is very dependent on your case!
thankyou
Hi. As a RDH i don't recommend this method of inside brases it is so hard to maintain an everyday cleaning rutine and it realy gets nasty when cleaning
can you do a video on tongue crib because i thrust my tongue i’ve done it since i was a baby i’m now 16 and i have gaps between all my front teeth i don’t have braces yet and my insurance won’t cover it because it’s considered “beauty “
i will sure try :)
I have a crossbite do i need braces anyway
Wouldn't it be possible with the clear aligners, to sand the frontal outside a tiny bit with ultra fine sandpaper, to make them matte and thus even more invisible?
That would actually make them more noticable!
Why do I not have ties on my braces ? Is that normal?
Lingual braces are totally fine for the tongue after about two weeks..:)
love that you're tolerating them well!
Good to hear. But is it difficult to talk? I am a teacher
@@kalkidanalema2276 totally after some getting used to.
Is having a class 2 bite after getting your braces removed a bad thing? That's what my orthodontist said I'd settle into. But I'm really concerned how it will be in the long term
Can you get metal braces with a porcelain cap?
Hello , how can I contact you ?
Love from India 🇮🇳
Changing my powerchain every 2 weeks can close my gaps faster?
I have a video on elastics!! I plan on doing an updated video on it soon though!
This is not about braces but can you do a video about getting scared at dentists and anxiety at the dentist
Sir if we have overjet then can we use Invisalign
Thanks for the informative video my question: does the orthodontist make digital analysis and records to document the case as 3d intraoral scan and 3d xray and track the progress of the treatment digitally?
I’m 38 and I’m finally seeing an orthodontist next month. I have to get my baby k9’s pulled. And my adult k9’s anchored and pulled down. I doubt I will have an option. I bet it’s going to be expensive, painful, and I’m going to look silly.
Can you do one on Damon braces and fast braces?
sure !
Sis lingual is worse, harder to clean just go with clear or metal
I got lingual braces a week ago. My tong is suffering
I'm getting lingual braces on in 1 week 😁
How much did it cost you?

Can clear aligners be used to fix rotation of tooth issue?
Either clear aligners/lingual braces
Can you please make a video on teeth reshaping after braces? My teeth are all okay but it would be lovely if my canines weren't so pointed. Can i ask for my teeth to be reshaped and will it hurt?
I can definitely do that. Yup, you can ask your orthodontist. It is not painful =]
@@DrGregAsatrian Thank you very much. Looking forward to the video :)
Can someone get braces or aligners with a missing upper second premolar? It got pulled and the person is not interested in any replacement for it..thanks?
Is there any cheap braces coz I want one and it's unaffordable 😔😔
My name is kungawo I'm 14
Fun fact: Miley Cyrus had invisible braces so she can straighten her teeth while filming Hannah Montana!
I’m very concerned I’ve not had my braces tightened for 4 months. Is this a setback? My teeth need cleaning too 😬
Really depends on where you are in treatment. In some cases, the postponing of adjustments didn't affect treatment length much, but it may have for others!
Braces Explained thanks Dr G. I’m 7 months wearing ceramics and my ortho isn’t concerned so guess I shouldn’t be either..appreciate reply 😊
It really depends - sometimes if there is a tooth size discrepancy, it may result in midlines not being on. I would ask your orthodontist!
How much price of breases
Hello, how much student debt will you have at the end of all the schooling to become an orthodontist? Is it true that it could take 1M$ to become an orthodontist?
Thanks!😅
Had bonding on 2 upper front teeth because I had gap. Is it difficult to remove bonding which by the way is discolored. Will my teeth underneath be discolored when bonding is removed
they shoudnt be !
Of course the most invisible are the most expensive. Banking on low self=confidence haha
Hi can u advice me about my teeth plse
Probably price
I got braces 7 hours ago and dang they hurt!!
I know this was listed ages ago but for people seeing this that are getting braces, the worst is over with after the morning of the second day imo.
Can you do a video on tongue posture?
I'm doing candid co from home cheaper than metal braces and orthodontist follows treaent from home with remote monitoring
Likely they will be OK w/ doing that :) Worth asking!
