Heya! Excellent question! The only way you can make this work is by fully switching over to Quickcast for all items. You need to go into your advanced hotkeys and then under hotkeys DESELECT enable Advanced Quickcast/Autocast Hotkeys. Then you need to go back to basic hotkeys and reassign all your keybinds then make sure under the item section the enable Quickcast box is filled in 😊
This is so hilariously relevant to me. I just decided to become an Earth Spirit spammer and traditionally I always used quick cast on key down for all heroes in all spells. I played my first game with remnant on normal cast cause the double tap seemed easier to do than pressing alt, but I'm sort of flubbing stuff like stone > grip and idk still up in the air on what I want to use going forward. Interesting video not sure what is best really, moving my thumb over to alt to press d feels kind of awkward. I wonder if making shift the key that makes things self cast would be easier and moving alt to the "queue" button cause I rarely use that anyways
We all love Earth Spirit, so are happy to hear a new brother is joining the cult :D You could consider moving your ALT modifier to something like Caps Lock? I think by default it's bound to scoreboard but that's an easy enough and insignifcant hotkey that you could afford to move that to a key that's hardly pressed and that would free up a potential ALT modifier that's easier for your pinky finger to get to if you were already considering Shift. We wouldn't advise making Shift your ALT modifier as Shift is a really helpful key to have when you play heroes that have illusions or summons and therefore use control and selection groups ( that's a video we should also do at some point, to be fair)
@@beneaththeveil I use capslock as my "all other units" key but to be fair I haven't thought much of micro. I basically only play Ench occassionally or NP and in those cases I hope to only have a single other unit. I use a 60% keyboard (no function keys) so I am EXTREMELY limited in terms of keybinds as is. And frankly with how little I play Dota (a few games a week) I think sticking with one hero in the chance I do is better for overall development. But my idea above is simply to swap Alt and Shift so I would use Alt to queue commands and then shift would be as described. Who knows though I'm only 50 games into ES with a 30% winrate so I have some bigger problems to solve than this at the moment.
@@Taziod Very fair! If memory serves, Phil uses a 65% keyboard and he plays micro heroes even without any function keys either. If you watch the video Phil did on summons heroes he goes through how you can do the majority of the leg work with micro with only 4 hotkeys (Select Hero, Select All Units, Select all other units and TAB). He uses SPACE as his Select Hero key and then has Select All Units bound to 1 and Select all other Units bound to 2. Here's the link :) th-cam.com/video/qCXnOn6ekbY/w-d-xo.html
Good Stuff! If you can, maybe you can maybe figure out what causes the mic crackles? Dunno if you need a new mic or if it's something else. Dropped a follow! Keep up doing educational content, we can use that in dota! :)
Glad you enjoyed! The mic crackles are something we're still diagnosing - we can't figure out if it's a mic issue, an interface issue or an issue that's cropping up with the software used to record. It's not off our radar though! Glad you enjoyed the video. We're slowly but surely filling in all those gaps in knowledge that we discovered through just raw in game hours
So when i used invoker and i want cataclysm i just predd for example letter T to do it and i settings cast ALT -T is iam correct? Or i need to press alt t to use CATAC?
Hiya! Yes, provided you don't have another keybind set to ALT + the hotkey for your secondary spell: if you ALT-cast Sun Strike it will cast Cataclysm. You can try it out in Demo Hero to make sure all your settings are correct.
If the spell has an animation then you can animation cancel after releasing the key to issue the spell cast by spamming your Stop or Hold command. Other than that though, right clicking is the only way to consistently cancel an order when using Quickcast on key up. Do keep in mind you only need to issue a single right click to cancel the order rather than multiple. The first right click cancels your spell command initialisation and then subsequent right clicks are issuing movement commands.
@@joseluismesana7931 yes, escape is a weird one which technically works. As does selecting another unit if you have one under your control (like courier). Personally, I just got used to a single right click cancelling the command or animation cancelling with my stop command and then moved on from there. Whatever works for you though is always best :)
Hi how to enable quick cast on jungle items and teleport? Pleaee

1:48 Is there any way that I can stop my spell cast besides right clicking? I also use quickcast on key up. Thanks!

Wow thanks! Using "esc" button as I have tested worked well in that regard. Also, I'm wondering if there's any hotkey I can swap with "esc" function?
