  • There's a lot of really good videos out there about the Hawaii Mars making it's last flight to become an exhibit at the BC Aviation Museum. But this one... is mine.
It pretty much covers my whole August 11th of plane spotting. Which included meeting fellow TH-camr and all around wonderful person ‪@leftcoastcorrie‬

Really nice footage Simon, it looks like you got to pack a ton of spotting into your island adventure. Great shot of the Hawaii Mars making its final landing ever, and cool to see the mix of all the other action going on!

@@TheHDAviation Thank you! As always, after it was over I thought about all the better spots I could have been. But I'm just glad I was able to be there at all. There was nothing like hearing it in person.

I grew up close to the Mars water bomber base on Sproat lake. I saw countless landings and takeoffs all my life. It breaks my heart to see her doing its last ever landing in Pat Bay. Soon the second bomber Philippine Mars ( in navy blue livery) will be restored to flying condition leaving my area for a long final flight to Tucson Arizona museum. Sproat Lake will be a lot emptier without these big birds around. but Im glad their going to museums, finally. I want come to Sidney to see the Hawaii Mars on display in October.

@@rEdf196 I look forward to visiting it too. It's sad they won't be flying anymore, but it's amazing they did such dangerous work and survived to retire. I'm happy about that.

@@PeterNGloor they put the beaching gear on, and it's currently up on land near the seaplane base. They will eventually move it over to the museum for display.
