  • I forgot to mention that this did fix the missing and the car does seem the run better. When you put the new spark plug wires and ignition coil on be sure to read the instructions. I had to put a bit of dielectric grease in the spark plug boot. Other than that be careful and take your time. All in all this job took probably under 2 hours working at a relaxed pace.

    Thanks for this video. I have a 1999 Mustang with this 3.8L engine. I was investigating an intermittent misfire at idle and checked my Chilton’s service manual to confirm the firing sequence. The diagram was … less than helpful. I thought the plug wires were connected wrong at the coil pack. (While aware that crossed connected wires would produce way more problems than an occasional misfire.) Your video shows that the top 3 are cylinders 4,6,5 (left to right) and the bottom row is cylinders 3, 2, 1 (left to right - or front to back, if preferred). My coil pack was set up correctly. Whew. So, I looked elsewhere for the misfire. I looked at other YT videos but none of them explained the coil pack set up as you did. Thanks again.

      Ok so I have the same issue mine says it's a misfire on cylinder 2 what did you do to fix it?

    • @captainKILLSHOT
      @captainKILLSHOT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@prenadezuno I ended up changing plugs wires and coils and cleaned every sensor I could I also ditched the stock TB and put on a GT TB coolest part of that it bolts right to the old intake and you get mo powar baby. IDK if you have tried unhooking the plug wire from cyc 2 to confirm but if you have you can switch coils around to see if thats the problem

      You should be able to type in your cars year plus the phrase firing order and it should give you a coil to plug wire layout.

    so my check engine light came on my 03 mustang v6 and the codes are p0316 and p0306 with this do i have to replace my wires as well as my spark plug

    • @TylerCreates

      It depends, I looked into it and it can be a hand full of things. Spark plugs, Spark Plug Wires, Coil Pack. The more major ones it Could be ( not as common) is Fuel Pressure, Bad Gas, Injectors, EGR. I would look over the ignition stuff first and make sure nothing is burned, heated, broke, etc. Pull all the plugs and check them make sure they have no cracks and if you are unsure buy a new set they are worth it.

      @@elshowdelpape4445 Is your engine misfiring? It will sound like a dead cylinder dropping every once in a while or may be completely dead. Also rev the rpm from the engine bay with the ebrake on and in park or neutral and listen for A or multiple cylinders dropping out. If so let me know and I can help. Also any other codes popping up besides P0352?

    I forgot to disconnect the battery when I changed out the ignition coil and the wires. Does that make a difference, 'cause it's still missing like hell. I'm about to go out and double check to make sure they're all in sequence and I didn't accidentally cross wire them.
    Sorry...I know this is probably a stupid as hell question; but I'm new to working on cars and am still learning. If i didn't unook the batter could that be messing with the timing in some weird way? Or is that just a safety precaution to keep from getting shocked?

    • @TylerCreates
      @TylerCreates  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While its always a good idea to disconnect the battery it really shouldn't make a difference. If you do disconnect the battery, make sure you leave it disconnected for about 30 min to 1 hour and that resets the ECU. Doing this will make the car run as though it is the first time its run so it has to relearn all of its fuel mapping and all sorts of info. It will need to be driven. Another thing you can do is unplug each coil wire and see what makes a difference and what doesn't (Don't get shocked it hurts haha) If you pull a wire and the cylinder doesn't change or drop out check for spark on that wire. If it has spark either the cylinder is dead and you will need to run a compression test or the fuel injector has failed and is not spraying fuel. Also check you spark plugs for the correct gap.

      Same and all other info online says that 465 is on the bottom. It also looks like his coil pack is upside down since since the sensor is on the bottom not the top.
