It surely was a beautiful morning in GTB when we all headed back home! As for software, let's hope Polestar comes with an OTA soonest to fix these ('Chinese road behavioral') issues. I recognize this from the Lynk&Co 01 in the beginning as well. Nice video again! 🙂
Still far from optimal, 432 in super good weather, 389 in below average but still summer(ish) weather, so winter sub-zero temps will likely be
I agree, its efficiency is the only thing giving me pause. I love everything else about the P4.
31c is actually not "super good" for range. AC need to work pretty hard at that temperature and also cooling of the battery mightvtake some power.
Agree with you that winter and highway probably will be below 350km.
Geely is unfortunately not known for top efficiency and this car seems to be in line with all the others 😢
Fully agree. Highly disappointing results.
@@geraldh.8047 With the Polestar 2 they have made it so good now, to bad they can't keep that in the P4. The P2 is as good or better than Model 3 on long range drives. (I won over every Tesla in a 1600km (1000 mile) race through Sweden this summer with the P2 LRDM 2024.
Now it’s much more close to what I’ve been having
Between 19 and 21 (depending on Ac off or On) quite a mixed weather down in Portugal also for the last 3weeks
Driving a P4 or P2?
@@sealightPT P2 average 17.5 during 75000Km, 19-21 with the new P4 (depending on weather). It has just 2000Km so the average consumption is far from stabilize
@@pmnsantos1 Wow, you must have been one of the first to get the P4! I was hoping it would have similar power consumption to the P2, but it seems like it's a bit worse.
Great about the ADAS update!
I filmed a similar test with my MINI Electric. In fact 3 tests - wind, cold, and wet conditions.
Not sure what unicorn magic the MINI engineers used, but it gets VERY similar range regardless. I have also experienced this on my trips: 100 miles of real-world range at -5 degrees C yet only about 30 more miles in ideal conditions (sunny, dry, 22 degrees C).
Big difference!
What is your opinion about Max Missoni leaving Polestar? Did he felt that his design circle is over in that company, did they make him quit or maybe he sensed that Polestar is about to flop and went out just in time? I believe his was an asset for Polestar and him out of the company was a mistake!
This is a concern more because of the replacement being the head of audi and vw design… about as bland as bland is
Thanks for the review. Would have been nice if Polestar was under-estimating the mileage like Porsche. The manufacturer numbers should be a worse case scenario expectation, with much better results in ideal conditions. I guess Polestar needs to do some tweaks to make this thing more efficient.
Damn, Polestar 4 is bloody massive looking car, compared to the other Volvos at 10:22 in the video. Even the XC60(?), itself a large SUV, looks small in comparison... 👀Why oh why are we only getting these massively large and heavy (and expensive) EVs...
When do these companies comprehend that they need to focus on software? Polestar: cruise control. Volvo: in California they recently presented EX90 for bunch of youtubers - after almost 2 years of delay - and the screen went black in many cases.
Saw that. For what they are charging for the vehicles, it should come with no issues or at least none that is affecting the main source of access for things in the vehicle.
@@waynerm002no new car comes without problems, you would know that if you ever owned a new car 🤷♂️
@@dennisbjergmadsen5163 LOL! Come on man, really? Maybe I’ve had good luck with some not having issues. I’ve quite a few in new cars in my life that didn’t have issues on delivery or for the first few years. Some I have had in the first year of a new model. Luxury or premium brands have been the ones with issues. My A4 computer died after I took it home after taking delivery, Volvo S60 had speaker rattles and head unit issues, the Audi etron had charging issues, related to the cooling system, in less than 2 months after delivery. On mainstream vehicles, Subaru Legacy Wagon had rotor issues, that’s on me though, drove and brake hard in the young days, nothing that some upgraded rotors and pads couldn’t solve. My VW Passat, Mitsubishi Galant were great, 3 KIA Hybrids were good past a year before 1 needed a rear camera replaced, of the 2 Stingers, 1 had door misaligned, which led to noise entering the cabin, 2nd was great. Oddly enough, the one I expected most issues with, the BMW 535 M-Sport was great for 3+ years, it developed engine issues when the warranty was almost up, during the time when I started to look into getting an extending warranty to keep it long term. It was the first of 2 cars I kept over 3 years, second being my last KIA Optima Hybrid, which I had for 5 years.
I am well aware that some (not all) new cars may have issues on delivery however, not everyone is unlucky enough to get one (although some people just have bad luck with cars). This doesn’t look good for Volvo and now Polestar. When the previous XC90 launched, I passed on it, it had more road noise than my KIA Optima hybrid, later it had a lot of issue with water getting into the vehicle, keeping folks cars in service for a long time. I like Volvo and want Polestar to do well but, after seeing issues on Polestar press cars and now in Volvo’s, plus what Kris experienced with the ADAS, I’m sure others are concerned there may be issues and will not want to purchase until resolved.
@@dennisbjergmadsen5163 Your statement is false. Maybe you have had issues with new cars however, I’ve owned multiple new vehicles and not all had issues. Typically, the Premium line are the ones I had issues with, Audi and Volvo, it the recent past, BMW was great until the warranty was almost up.
@@waynerm002 Things has changed recently. Car companies have tough times -> they push new products out to market much more aggressively than before. For example I4 has bunch of issues.
Great video! How was the rear view camera in the rain?
Thanks! It worked very well, even in horrible weather. I will make another video talking more about my experience with the rear view camera-mirror.
@@KrisRifa thanks for the reply! Glad to hear that it works. I'll be tuning in for that video as well!
Definitely a chinese car thing. My Mg4 acts exactly the same. It breaks and slows down all the time. It's really frustrating. I don't use it anymore...
yeah, I usually only experience this in Chinese cars too!
Bad ADAS is a deal breaker for me. Same for Tesla with the constant cancelling when changing lanes. A shame
If you want. 300 USD buys you an enhauto commander and you can program it to reactive autopilot automatically.
@@MisterCipiripi if i buy or lease a 75k euro car i do not want to buy some add on to make it work like any other properly developed car :)
Hi Kris, thank you for the review. Did you also have to recharge? in the first video the charging speed was also disappointing, around 100 while it should normally be able to reach 200. Any new experiences there?
“really. annoying. frustrating” is all I can remember.
hahaha!
I've received mine last Friday in Portugal. Having a mixed (but mainly below 100 kph) 19 KWh/100km results.
Weird thing I've seen mine has but others don't: my rearview camera doesn't go low enough, even at the lowest setting it only shows the cabin of the car behind. Any tips?
Roughly the same consumption as a Tesla Model Y Performance and this car is a lot bigger.
That range is horrendous considering the expectations I had for this car. Is this the dual motor or the single motor long range?
Nice car but high consumption. Especially bc the average speed is not high. 94 kWh is a lot. And the Scx might be ok. Huge wheels?
Scx ?!?
Hey Kris how is the rear view mirror via the camera in this very poor weather is there much water on the camera lens when you look at the 'mirror'?
damn wonder about consumption in winter.
It is certified as 511 km in Korea, which test in the harshest environment in the world.
I think there is a problem with your car. I recommend you to get it repaired.
Seems Interesting…
I want a ZAPTEC GO homecharger.
Where is your
Xpeng g6 range test?🤔
still unable to perform below 20KWH - unsure why TESLA manages that also with 500+ HP model. Lack of AERO still i guess
Do you check tire pressures Kris?
No I don't, and it shouldn't be necessary. This is press vehicle provided by the manufacturer who are well aware of my channel, what tests I do, and how I do them. These cars are booked normally weeks, if not months in advance, so they should have more than enough time to prepare them for my test week. If the car is given to me with an outdated software or incorrect tire pressure, it is 100% on the manufacturer.
Thanks for this video Kris. Very informative. Appreciate you talking with the polestar engineers about the ADAS. Hopefully all sorted by the time my P4 arrives in Australia.
@@KrisRifa more than fair - I guess for me it was "to understand" if it was a variable and if also missed such as the ADAS which should have been sorted by Polestar. TBH the quality control on Polestar given their significant media test in Spain was very poor - You would have thought that they should have treated it as their 1 opportunity to get things right.
@@tzetv sure, you're good - and I didn't mean to be rude, just tried to explain my perspective. Yeah, you make some good points there mate :)
@@KrisRifa - All good - keep up with the great content!
Perhaps I'm missing something, but "good weather" in this vide? I mostly see rain. And a temperature of 31 degrees celsius is not ideal either.
did you watch the video with you eyes shut and your hands over your ears???
@@KrisRifawho would blame him after the first 10 minutes of ranting about a system you know will be fixex 😉
Just Cancelled mine 😢
I am definitely now canceling my order , really disappointed by polestar, looks like they don’t want to sell their cars
I dont think you should get a car at all. You will just be disappointed.
@@madsthomsen8006thanks for the advice your actually right spending money on cars is not worth it when they depreciate a lot
The ADAS in my EX30 ist almost the Same: annoying and frustrating for several months. They didn't fix it since april. Just Chinese rubish.
Its the new software Update.. i have a polestar 2 and with the newest Update its crap
No surprise - better wetter, lower consumption. Still poor for a car that size with that form. Polestar will have a tough one to get out of trouble with such simple rebrands of chinese last-year tech. Looks very good in real life this car though.
That size? Its one of the widest cars on the market.
@@madsthomsen8006 And this means...Poor packaging or what?
Looks like a Tesla, and acts like a Tesla...hmmm
