Your enjoyment is infectious Marion, and you’re a natural teacher. The most important thing for me is to find what engrosses you and not to worry about what others think. You have got me completely hooked on slow stitching and embroidery after probably 40 years of not doing any (I’m 70!). You have no idea how much pleasure and relaxation it’s brought into my life. Thank you ❤
I totally agree with what you said, that you can do what makes you happy in sewing/stiching, and that there should not be a hierarchy. I have a new found joy in the more “loose” techniques in sewing, compared to the embroidery (mainly cross stich) I did years ago - and that makes me so, so happy. I really don’t care if other people think it is strange or not worth doing. I couldn’t care less, and maybe it is my age, that makes me think that now. I can do what I like, and I really enjoy trying put new techniques new approaches to needle, thread and fabrics🌻🌷🌺🫶🏻🥰
That's it exactly. I don't know where this notion came from of something better than another... It's all worthwhile, whatever stage you're at and whatever it is that you're doing. If you're enjoying it... that's the whole point!
Marion you are so versatile no matter what you think of you can do it because you have the skill behind you I absolutely am over the moon watching your videos thank you when a new one comes on I am very excited I cannot begin to tell you thank you and God bless
Hi Marion I love the way you freeform with your needlework using all different stitches. You have a real talent and thank you for sharing your passion. There will always be people who only know one way of working on projects and that is okay for them but there is not just one way of using thread and needle. New skills happen because people try different ideas. You have a real following now and I so enjoy your videos each time you post one. Thank you =-).
Albert Einstein had a quote- Imagination is more important than knowledge. So here here to what we are doing slow stitching keep doing what you are doing as I will. Love your videos Marion.
I was at Raby castle yesterday for a workshop and suggested the lady I sat next to to look at your You Tube, as I complemented her on her embroidered pouch . So relaxing to stitch
As always Marion your work is so beautiful. How the embroidered flowers really add a dimension to the slow stitched work is wonderful. You are so artistic and it is such a pleasure to join you as you stitch. I plan to begin with the embroidery videos next year from number 1 and work my way through. This year was taken up with quilt making but now I plan to embroider for awhile. Take care lovely lady xx
Hi @Jacqueline ... I'm relieved to see I'm not the only person so far no hasn't started Marions lovely book .... I also will begin mine in the New Year 😁😁😁🇦🇺😎 Happy stitchinng xx
@@paulinedonnelly6077 We all have busy lives and TH-cam is great for going back and looking through older videos. It will be lovely knowing someone else is stitching along with me. 🧵🪡❤
The white on blue is really lovely! You are a wonderful teacher, a skilled textile artist and a genuine human being. I am so happy I found you here on YT and I always enjoy spending time in Marion's World.♥
Another lovely stitch and chat 😍 . There's a reason blue and white together has been such a feature over time and continents, it's so lovely to see and somehow calming.
This is a marriage of perfect genetics - informed creativity. Thank you, Marion. Using a background of random slow stitches is a happy place for planting natures gifts. You seem to never say 'never', instead, just ask "what if?"
As usual Marion, you said it best…”it’s all fabric & thread”! And I would add..”nobody’s the boss of us”! You make stitching even more enjoyable with your easy going teaching style & all of your clever ideas & advice. Thank you so much Marion! Your videos are the best!!
I so agree, Marion…if I think something is beautiful, then it is beautiful at least to me! Everyone should have the opportunity to do whatever they personally enjoy doing! It really is unfortunate that some teachers don’t know how to pass on joy. You do my dear and that’s why we love to learn from you!! Thank you again and again! 💕Donna
“Whenever we create something, we always put parts of ourselves into it". Thank you so very much, Dear Marion, this is actually combined mindfulness concept - slow stitching with embroidery - sort of mindfulness-based sewing & art therapy😊🥰 🪡🧵🖼☀️💐🌸🙏 Thank you for letting us to be there, in a wonderful Marion's World.
As I was told at my first day at art college, about 50 years ago, ‘take a line for a walk’, the start of an artistic creation.Taking your thread for walk, just wandering, some want to go somewhere specific on their walk, others like to just explore, but as you say you should just enjoy the freedom to ‘ walk’. That’s the way to really sew and get ‘fitter’ with stitching🙂
I enjoy all you show, and It was good to hear you tell people off, If , it wasnt for you taking the time to show, what you show, all this be gone one day. did they ever think of that, people would have things that their great great....... did, but have no idea , how to. they may have pulled it apart to see how to. but,, what a joy, you showing us all, and im 67 and never done anything like, any of this ever, Thank you our friend Marion.
It’s a total success Marion and it’s a lovely concept of conjoining two styles of embroidery, they are both right and the co-habit nicely on you page 💕
Hello from Missouri USA. I'm with you Marion I learned to sew very young and was never put off by any of it. I love all types of needle crafts from crochet to quilts. Any and all hand sewing keeps my hands busy so my mind doesn't focus on all the constant body pain.
What loveliness this is! I think blue and white or cream looks so delicious. The whimsey of this is so appealing. Like having a wee ramble through fairyland. Thank you Marion, this was so relaxing. 😊❤
So lovely to watch you stitch Marion! This page is marvelous! Blue is my favorite color and the white flowers make the page shine. Can’t wait to try it out.
Thank you again, Marion 😊 You are so right. We should all be thankful that we live in a time when all the rigid rules are okay to disregard😅 A beautiful piece with lovely embroidery and stitches. It is magical how you combine the styles❤
Great video love the freedom of slow stitching. Thanks for showing the new stitches. Love the idea of a woven spiders web as the centre of a flower. Xxxx
Hello Marion. Firstly can I say that I rather dislike people who think they have the right to denigrate stitch work that doesn’t “fit” with what they see as being acceptable. The joy of needlework is that it can be used to enhance a lowly dish cloth right up to “royal paraphernalia” and everything in between. It doesn’t matter what type of stitching you want to do. If it gives you joy or fulfils a practical need, then it is more than acceptable. I love watching how you develop each piece and are so versatile in how you approach each element of it, which always results in something that is lovely. So, please, keep doing what you do! Have a great week.
I agree with you, it's all worth doing. You are quite inspiring and seeing you doing a lot of the techniques that I am already interested in has encouraged me to go ahead and try them. I'm so glad I found you here.
I had the same thought, which you said at the end. That whilst doing the embroidery, you were still in the slowstitch mindset. Thank you so much for this wonderful video ❤
Thank you, Marion! You are such an inspiration 😊 Your work is lovely and your teaching is just right. I prefer to work without written patterns, or to just use them for inspiration. I always look forward to your videos.
Awesome, dear Marion, thank you so much: I just found a new favorite stitch, since I love to stitch flowers and grasses. Those little woven leaves are adorable! I imagine to do those also for little clothes for fairies ad elves. Your whole work is beautiful and inspiring - as always.
Love how the white stands out on the blue Marion, I've treated myself to that book you mentioned and I'm absolutely in love with sliw stitching.Your tutorials are so lovely to follow and I can't wait to see how you will finish this page, thanks and hope you have a productive week xxx
Hello Marion, I am learning so much watching you, also revisiting my own long forgotten embroideries. I must admit I’m really enjoying doing these very old unfinished projects. I only discovered you this summer, but I’ve watched quite a lot of your wonderful work now. I have also been enjoying trying your recipes too, yum yum. Thank you so much. ❤
Marion, I love your video. I just recently found your channel and I am so happy that I did. You are such a pleasure to watch and learn from. I enjoy listening to your stories that you share too. I do love slow stitching and embroidery, but you have made it easier and more pleasurable to do. Oh, and I really loved seeing your garden when you did that video. I am going back to watch all your previous videos to learn many new stitches that I didn't know before. You are a wonderful teacher; it is easy to understand the way you explain the stitches and the process. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you spend teaching. Best wishes, Suzie

Hi Marion, well that"s coming on a treat ! I really like the white stitching on the blue back ground, very effective. I thought it was like magic when you removed the pin from that stitching and " Voila " it was free standing,. Didn't expect that. You can tell I don't do embroidery ! I know it's in your book, but something like that would look great in a frame ! Thankyou for your videos ..... for all your videos !
Thank you Marion for another lovely relaxing stitching session. I recently tried detached picot stitch for the first time the other week and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was. I love what you said about different types of stitching and how one is no better than another. Pulling thread through fabric is wonderful however it's done. Looking forward to seeing how you finish this page ❤ xxx
Thank you for yet another wonderful video. You have liberated a sewing spirit within me that has been repressed for so long and I am loving the journey. You make everything possible ❤
Do you think you will ever use up all that tangle of threads Marion? I’d love a mending video. Darning wool fabrics and invisible mending of holes and tears would be very useful. These slow stitching panels are very like mood boards and memory boards. They are very abstract but quite fascinating. They are totally different from traditional embroidery. Not as organised, more spur of the moment, go as you please sewing. Very tactile and innovative. I’m with you on this one Marion. It doesn’t matter what you create, as long as you enjoy doing it. Thank you for passing on your knowledge and skills xx
