    $700...? plus the cost of the speakers. You can purchase a receiver and some Monoprice Speakers for around that price and get a full 5.1 surround sound system

    Nice quality video. I purchased the SVS prime a month ago. I’m using it with Elac unify B-52 speakers and SVS pro 2000 pb. I run the ark out of my Apple TV. I’m able to use the Apple TV remote to control the entire system. I compared it to the blue sound node. I compared it to the NAD systems. The price was best with the SVS. I’m very happy. The system works great. The play app works well with my iPhone and streaming services. I would definitely purchase it again. recommend.

      I’m looking at doing this as well. Are you happy with the bass in the 2.1 while watching movies? I’m trying to decide if I want to go with a receiver or the SVS sound base pro. Thank you for any info!

    Between this and sonos amp, denon h900 or denon 600ne which you think is a better choice to listen 2.1? Thanks

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say the Sonos Amp, just because they have music playing down to a science. Especially if you have (or want to have) other Sonos products around the house for easy whole home audio. Although the Denon products you mentioned support HEOS, which also allows you to set up whole home audio (with other HEOS compatible speakers.
      For more movie/TV watching, I’d still go with the Sonos Amp since it has the most power. SVS Prime Wireless Soundbase is a close second. 🤘

  • @TheFrugalAudiophile
    @TheFrugalAudiophile 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think the main competitor to the sound base is the blue sound power modes. They have very similar functionality including HDMIEARC. I don’t think they’re quite as powerful though. NAD also makes some integrated amps with HDMIEARC but I think they are more expensive than both The sound base and power mode. It seems like there is always a cost increase for integrated amps that include eARC. Perhaps it cost to manufacture more to implement? It is hard to say, but I think that eventually prices will come down.

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes, very true. And I hope prices come down, since you could just go with a receiver with most of these features.

    So what exactly is "wireless" about this thing? It seems you still have to connect the speakers using wires? Am I missing something?

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wireless from your music sources, like how you’re typical wireless Bluetooth speaker system works (via Bluetooth 5.x, Wi-Fi, Apple Airplay, Chromecast, etc). But instead of being forced to play music out of a Bluetooth speaker, you can connect any 2 speakers you want with the convenience of wireless music playback.

    how do you feel about the dialogue clarity not having the center channel? I have a high end home theater set up but i was wanting something other than a sound bar for my secondary TV. Considering speakers like Klipsch fives, svs prime wireless pro, and the powered KEF speakers. But i'm concerned about how the voices will be without that center channel.

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, what’s true about all 2 channel setups is that dialog will sound more to one side if you’re not sitting in the middle of the speakers. It’s also dependent on which speakers you have connected to the SoundBase. But when I was testing them out, dialog sounded great! But I was also sitting right smack in the center.

  • @jirimunzar7559

    Ealan I'm new to your channel and find it very informative thank you! I have a pair of front and pair of rear wired speakers with a separate sub what is your recommendation for amp? The SVS in your review is perfect size to fit my book shelf but only 2.1. Your recommendation will be appreciated.

      @ealanosborne  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your kind words! Welcome to the channel! 😁
      If it’s in your budget, the Marantz NR1510 is on sale on Crutchfield for $599, although I understand that’s expensive for a 5.2 channel AVR. But since you mentioned the SVS Prime Wireless SoundBase is a good size, the NR1510 has a slim profile, so it fits in more entertainment centers.
      Otherwise, the Sony STR-DH590 or Yamaha RX-V4A are good entry level AVRs. 😀🎉

      @@ealanosborne First, thank you for responding! Your advice is very apricated.
      My issue is the standard 17.25” rack size components are too wide for my bookshelves that max out at 16”. Now I’m wondering if the SVS can be bridged that would get me the 4+1? Not sure if that even makes sense, I did find another compact 5.1 amp the (Cambridge Audio EVO 150) It’s priced at 3,000.00 which seems like a stretch unless it’s hiding something special under the hood?

  • @stevewright1384
    @stevewright1384 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Sonos Amp is another option as well. And for those asking why to use a product such as this as opposed to a “basic” home theater to stereo receiver, the thing that comes to mind is simplicity. With hdmi arc, anyone can easily just use this. There is no learning struggle for visiting parents, babysitters, or partners who just want watch TV without complication. I laugh when I even see home theater systems with 47 audio options for handling your sound. I want 1) a better quality sound 2)through good speakers 3) without overly complicated configuration. This type of product provides that.

      I think the key difference with these mini amplifiers is that they can fit discretely under a TV or in one of the cubes of a popular Ikea Kallax bookshelf (what my TV sits on). Darko literally refers to these electronics as "Kallax-Fi". I just don't have the space for a full size receiver. That being said, I agree the current range of mini amps with HDMI is far too expensive. I did place an order for the Arylic B50 a couple of weeks ago (a $120 mini amp with HDMI ARC and a sub out) and am hoping it meets my needs. Currently awaiting delivery.

      You can use the Sonos AMP or BluSound PowerNode with a pair of matching SONOS/BluSound wireless speakers to have a 4.0 setup (can expand using a wired or wireless sub(s) with both systems as well) if you just want a small box to power two passive speakers rather than a receiver.

      I want to say that you might be able to do this, which is what I'm going to try and do here soon. Take these powered speakers for example (Any powere speaker really) and pusches one of the adapters that make the subwoofers wireless and attach it to the speakers for the same result. I read this somewhere but I can't remember where, but something to try and or look into.
