The screenwriters in the 1990 film Goodfellas changed the name of Jimmy the Gent Burke to “Jimmy Conway.” Some claim that the real-life gangster Jimmy Burke was so happy to have Robert DeNiro play him that he phoned him from prison to give him a few pointers. Author/screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi denies this, saying DeNiro and Burke had never spoken, but admitting that there were men around the set all the time who had known all of the principal characters very well. During the 1960s, Burke married a woman named Mickey. One of the more well-known stories illustrating Burke’s temperament is about a former boyfriend of Mickey who had been bothering her. She complained to Jimmy. The day they were married in 1962, the police found this man’s body cut up into many pieces.
Tommy was killed because Billy was a made guy, in real life he was also a guy on John Gottis crew . And story i saw was Billy got out and wanted back his bookmaking business that apparently Jimmy had taken while he was in jail so he was killed over a racket not an insult.
Black Mass with Johnny Depp is an underrated bada$$ mafia flick! Yes, the 2015 movie Black Mass is based on the true story of James "Whitey" Bulger, a violent criminal from South Boston who became an FBI informant: The movie stars Johnny Depp as Bulger, Benedict Cumberbatch as his brother Billy, and Joel Edgerton as FBI agent John Connolly. The film also stars Dakota Johnson, Kevin Bacon, Peter Sarsgaard, and Rory Cochrane. The movie is about Bulger's life, which involved drugs, violence, and murder. It also depicts how he used his position as an FBI informant to take out his rivals. Some say that the movie made minor cinematic choices to streamline the story, which would have been four or five hours long if it had stayed true to every incident. Others say that the movie captured the complicated man, and that family members of Bulger's victims thought it was an extremely accurate portrayal.
Being "made" doesnt mean you are the new head. It means you are a part of the family officially. Henry and jimmy were just associates. But they could never be a real "made" member because they werent 100 percent sicilian. I know that even later they changed the rules so that you at least had to have your father as an italian. They just need to trace your family back to italy. So if tommy was "made" he would most likely just be a soldier. With the possibility of one day becoming a "boss" A caporegime is a boss. Usually a family will have a few caporegimes. They are considered bosses and they get their own territory.
Nice reaction. It's pretty much a must to watch _Casino_ after watching _Goodfellas._ _Casino_ is also based on a true story. Looking forward to seeing what you two think of that one too.
During the killing of Billy Batts, Batts had been running a protection gig that Jimmy had taken over while he was locked up. So it was about something else, too.
7:00 , the truck driver gave a head nod to Tommy and Henry,. He was in on it (Henry just mentioned that they had friends and relatives who tipped them off), walked back outside and acted all confused about the truck being stolen and then put the cops on the wrong trail by saying 2 black guys robbed the truck.
The scene where Henry and Karen were cutting through the kitchen. All the people you saw outside of the Copacabana were the same people who were inside the club when the came out to the matra'de. They literally had to run to get to their tables and spots before they came out of the Kitchen
17:10 The real reason they killed Batts was because Tommy and Jimmy had taken over Batt's rackets while he was in prison. They were supposed to give them back to Batts once he got out, but they didn't want to give up all the money they were making.

You guys seemed really confused why they were randomly breaking peoples car windows and shit when they were kids. It's actually quite simple and one of the oldest gigs in the racket... They break all the windows so Paulie can come through the neighborhood a couple days later and say "Well gee wiz... Looks like you've had some destruction on the block... I could offer you some protection... For a price". They were basically just setting up an extortion racket!
Casino, Scarface & The Godfather 1&2. Paulie had an affair with Karen Hill. When Tommy tried to get her to have sex. Paulie told the Gambino family everything.
In the mafia family there’s the boss of the family who calls the shots then the underboss and consigliere and then under them you have the caporegimes (captains) and then under them the soldiers and associates. Capos usually run their own crews of soldiers and associates who are just street thugs who do the dirty work and kick up to the capos who kick up to the bosses. Becoming a made guy in the mafia requires you to be 100% Italian meaning jimmy and Henry couldn’t be made because they were half Irish so even though they had a lot of respect and were good earners they still ranked below made guys. Tommy was eligible to be made cause he was full blood Italian but when he killed Billy he was still an associate and you can not kill a made guy in the mafia without permission from the bosses which is why Tommy was killed.
Pesci was killed by an order sent down from FAR higher than Paulie. Paulie most likely didn't even know about it. Paulie was just the head of his own little crew. Pesci killed a made man in the Gambino crime family, one of the five crime families of New York, so he was essentially a dead man once he did that, it was only a matter of time.
Pesci was killed because he killed a made guy without permission, not because Henry was selling drugs.

Everyone has to learn about something for the first time. You don't come out of the womb with full knowledge of Robert De Niro's filmography, lol. What's important is the journey and being open to learning! I subscribed after watching your reaction to Bronx Tale. You've got a great dynamic and you were picking up on everything, and having great discussions. Keep it up!!
one the homies from our circle growing up had a parent who worked for Lufthansa when it was still around, that made the movie hit a bit harder for us. def a classic.
Yes, the 2015 movie Black Mass is based on the true story of James "Whitey" Bulger, a violent criminal from South Boston who became an FBI informant:
The movie stars Johnny Depp as Bulger, Benedict Cumberbatch as his brother Billy, and Joel Edgerton as FBI agent John Connolly.
Love your reactions
This film always reveals something new about the people who watch it. I learned a lot about these 2 people watching.
He didn’t kick the gun out of his hand Tommy broke the gun on his face
It was more brutal in real life
Being "made" doesnt mean you are the new head. With the possibility of one day becoming a "boss"
A caporegime is a boss.
They killed the only black man in the movie which was Sam Jackson
"Casino" is kinda must-watch, now that you guys have watched Good Fellas...
Oh snap when Jae did Joe Pesci face b4 he shot Spider 😂😂😂 spot on he was tight 😂😂😂
Enjoyed your reaction, thank you looking forward to more.
The scene where Henry and Karen were cutting through the kitchen. All the people you saw outside of the Copacabana were the same people who were inside the club when the came out to the matra'de. They literally had to run to get to their tables and spots before they came out of the Kitchen
Buying the most expensive Christmas tree isn't a major purchase like a mink or car
17:10 The real reason they killed Batts was because Tommy and Jimmy had taken over Batt's rackets while he was in prison. They were supposed to give them back to Batts once he got out, but they didn't want to give up all the money they were making.
Yall should watch City of God, its a Brazilian crime movie based on a true story. I feel like it would be a movie you'd both like, keep up the great movie reactions. 🙏🏾
loved when the real Henry Hill would call up the Old Howard Stern show from witness protection. Good old days.
$5 Million back then is around $25 Million today (when accounting for inflation)
New York people seem to get this movie more.
Best Mafia movie ( Best Movie of all time. Of any genre) Godfather. Followed by Casino.
Godfather I and II
R.I.P Ray Liotta
People in their 40s and 60s think they're 23 and expect you real 23 yos to know all their material the way they do. Im one.
Pesci said that something similar happened to him when he was a waiter in NYC.
That crazy laugh is how the Real Henry laughed. lol
Fun Fact: Tommy's mother was played by director Martin Scorsese's real mother. And his father played Vinnie, the guy who put too many onions in the sauce! He also was one of the men who killed Tommy lol!
Also his real father plays one of hit man the kills tommy when he thinks he’s getting made.
The real Henry Hills was very different guy than the in the movie, also The real Pauly was much more violent. Henry definitely made the story look more in his favor, i’m pretty sure Henry still did illegal stuff even after he ratted, I also found it strange that you don’t see him kill one person in the movie, he admitted he killed 3 people on Howard Stern show in 2002.
This was a good reaction. Henry had a price on his head for a long time. Oddly enough he died of natural causes and not from getting hit by the mob
I agree with him. Accidents with firearms happen all the time and her finger was on thst trigger, and she pulled the hammer back. The camera also showed us that it fully loaded
Casino should be the next movie your watch
Casino! and then Carlito's way with Pacino and great one
You should watch
'my cousin vinny'
Mafia life - was a tv show, sort of.
Sopranos
Runaway
Boardwalk Empire
Casino, Scarface & The Godfather 1&2. Paulie had an affair with Karen Hill. When Tommy tried to get her to have sex. Paulie told the Gambino family everything.
I like you guys! Fun to watch.!
"Road to Perdition" is a must watch gangster movie. If you two not seen it before.
'I'm glad I saw 'Home Alone' first...'
Best comment I have ever heard on Pesci's performance here!
And I saw this first...
This movie came out the same year as Home Alone. Pesci was busy that year.
21:21 women will always stand up for each other lol, respect
Jimmy died and Henry died too in 2012
In the mafia family there’s the boss of the family who calls the shots then the underboss and consigliere and then under them you have the caporegimes (captains) and then under them the soldiers and associates.
This is my all-time favorite movie.
He was young in 50s yall, yous saw 1963 and was like oh he was kid in the 70s which was the future in that time lol
