Never done sprint training but I do a lot of kickboxing I tried American football as I live in England and came out with a supposed 4.49 first try now wanna actually train and see what I can get.
Love this video! I’ve been trying to work on shaving my 40 time down. (4.8, 19 year old, 175 lb) If I sent you a video of my 40, could you give me some pointers on what I need to fix/doing wrong?

I’m 11,4’10 68lbs and I run a 5.97 with cleats on turf and a 6.01 it’s a difference Edit:Now I am 12 still 4’10 72lbs and now with those tips I run a 5.76
Hi i have a question, My heels touch the ground when i sprint, i try to land on the balls of my feet, but it feels like i would fall. i ran a 4.7 with heels touching. would i be way faster with balls of my feet
A good “strike” spot is mid-foot. Kinda the front arch of your foot, not necessarily “toes” - that makes sense if you feel like you’re going to fall running on your toes - Optimizing your sprint mechanics always will make you more efficient which should help you sprint faster ✊✊
It’s good to get your technique reviewed to tell you exactly how to improve, rather than guess - it’s something we can do as a paid service for ya if interested 👍
@@AthleticPreparation Sounds interesting. One more question, because i think you're really good at advice is, is there a certain cap to how fast i can get? like i won't be faster than bolt or tyreek hill for a fact.
Yes - genetics and muscle fiber type are always limiting factors ... but you CAN get faster - as to how fast, dunno exactly but we are all about performing to YOUR potential - to work hard and discover what your body is capable of because often - you can achieve more than you think / give yourself credit for. So who cares the cap of your speed - rather be eager to find it and become a great athlete / human during the process is striving for your greatness 👊👊
I’m 5’2 13 years old I ran a 6.6 😂 but I was wearing a pair of vans and had no warmup and didn’t stretch. What do you think I could get if I put on cleats and warmed up?
100% yes you can - but how much faster is relative , hence you might not ever be as fast as usain bolt no matter how hard you train - but you can be the fastest version of you
I’m going in my junior year of high school , I’m a DB running a 4.66. By the time summer comes should I strive to be in the 5’s? I’m not sure if a 4.66 is solid for my age
You mean 4.5s right? I’d say most 16 year old kids I see aren’t around 4.6 , they are typcually 4.9s - 5s . If you truly have been laser timed. Most kids come in and tell me they run a 4.6, typically run a 4.8 because of stopwatch timing. Yes, I’d aim to take .1-.2 of your 40 with proper offseason speed and strength training homie ✊ Speed kills. If you need some help - lmk 👊👊
I was at a camp/visit at a d3 school and we ran 20 yard dashes instead of 40s I got a 3 flat which I thought was really slow for a 20 yard dash but he told me anything in the low threes is good, what's ur input on that?
depends on position etc - but I think you need Sub 3 , for 20 - more like 2.7 is really fast or 2.6 is what my WR who ran a 4.4 hit .... so... thats a good bench mark
Jonathan Labrada if you want the best - use lasers. If you don’t have that, use a STOPWATCH ( not your iPhone) Have one person start at finish line and time you as soon as you move and stop as soon as you cross
I'd say 4.89 is really good for 12. Some high school kids coming and don't even hit that. But.. also is it hand time / laser timed? Laser is more accurate, but as long as you are consistnetly using the same testing method - it will enhance validity of testing.
I’m 16 5’6 and 165LB and I’m going into sophomore year at runningback. I run a 4.90 currently, do you think it’s possible to drop my 40 down to a 4.6/4.7 within 4 months?
.... possibly - depends how coachable you are and you have a good program to follow. Aiming to drop .1 / month is VERY ambitious progress to make - but it can be done. Easiest fix #1 is having a coach identify any errors with your sprinting mechanics then 2, train to develop the qualities you need (more strength or more velocity).

Front doode

Hey I’m 13 and I really wanna test my 40 yard at home sense it’s quarantine but I don’t know how to measure 40 yards exactly.
If you could tell me it would be awesome and it would really help a lot
Best bet is to go to a school field where it’s clearly 40 yards - you have to be accurate : consistent if you’re going to improve .
40 yards is 120 feet - so however you measure it 👍
Im 6'2 and 20 years old My 40 is 4.46 is that good
if you've watched the NFL Combine - that's a pretty a solid time if it's accurate and also depends your body size
That’s too 10 percent tile
Yea if you run 4.46 ... that’s NFL type speed
is it possible to get a faster speed? because i read somewhere the speed is mostly just genetics
