I super appreciate that he's teaching HER how to do it instead of doing it himself. It's one thing to have a stylist handling it all for you. It's another to do it yourself and have to correct the way you're holding a curling iron in the mirror.
Oh my she looked like an art piece. Beautiful. Makeup subtle and so was the dress and the hairstyle.
I like how they show a client doing the techniques and him correcting her. It helps you learn how to teach a client.
The model is sooo pretty and such a sweet voice aw.
cake loverxxx
She's adorable and I really like the fact the he gives her the chance to try on her own the hairstyle! Lovely! :)
I find it hilarious that all these products were "needed" to achieve a style from over 75 years ago.
Shana Stone were none of them were existed hahahhah
Here in my country they used malzbeer to hold the hair...lol.
Its a tradeoff. As someone who does authentic 40s and 50s hairstyles daily i can tell you they used products back then too. They sure settinglotion, beer or sugar water and pincurl clips to pincurl their hair and then some teasing and lots of hairspray. This method saves time (depending on how fast you can pincurl, your hair dries and how long the brush out takes.. It takes longer for me to curl my hair with heat because it doesnt respond well to heat) although you do lose some of the accuracy in the finished product.
Also hes a hairstylist and showcasing products. Theres nothing wrong with using alot of quality products to get a certain lookwhen yoire not confident in doing the traditional method
@@mumblesandwool1243 is right. Furthermore, appreciate the evolution of hair styling. Products are added not only just for marketing purposes but simply by demand, whether it is to enhance or refine or improve upon and make the process more efficient.
Its just Advertising
i screamed when he brushed it. he could've ran his fingers through it or used a wide comb.
same!! >_
I like how he lets her try each step as well. Very pretty style and technique.
omg dont rip her head off!!! hes so heavy handed
ikr XD so violent
her voice is soo cute!!
Love the vintage the wave, classy look but my favorite part is the when she’s actually doing it then she’ll want to try to do it again for her hair in the future 1920s 30s was fantastic
why does it seem so easy when you watch, and when you do it yourself, it 's nothing like that at all?
75vasso she has really healthy and maluable hair
I will say though, John Frieda products are very good. I loved their Sheer Blonde. They used to have this deep conditioner in the Sheer Blonde line that they must not have anymore that was AWESOME. I wish they still had that stuff.
Beautiful look on a lovely, charming model.
he brushed it way too much. lmao
+Markeiya Olive He ruined the gorgeous curls with over brushing them and that last waxy product he used.
It was looking so good until the end.... then it all just disappeared lol
The way he explains is super amazing
omg that girl is soooo pretty she would look stunning in everything and every hairstyle
I miss the Spun Gold hair pomade so much! It was really unique as it had a shimmer which complemented blonde hair.
All these people commenting clearly do not know how to achieve a 40's look. He brushed it out because that's how you achieve a veronica lake-like wave. Should he have left the bobby pin exposed, no, but he nailed the look nonetheless.
it's not really a 40s look because he said "trying to get that up to date look" when he was brushing her hair ..
live_laugh_love3755 actually he said "up-to date kinda feel" there's a difference honey .. He nailed the retro look end of story.
Its true brush outs are a part of vintage styling but in my opinon he brushed it too mixh. That style is lucky to last 3 hours. With a wet set you can brush it out to that ppint and it will still hold but heatstyling doesnt last as long so you want to brush out less. The quick brush he did made it accurate and once he started brushing more, he gave it more of a modern feel. I myself prefer a more vintage look since i do pincurls daily to get a histprically accurate look but its personal preference
This is my favourite of all the hollywood curls tutorials I've seen!
Beautiful hair and Jake seems lovely!
I like it better before he brushed it
Totally agree
I was saying the same thing it looked a lot better before he brushed all the curls out.
Aunielle Neal I thought exactly the same 😉
A
Same!!
he brushed the curls so hard that she freaked out lmao
I love the retro 40.s curls .
I really like Emma's lovely manner as well...poor her when he starts brushing in a crazy way not even being considerate to her! Didn't like that part...hair is delicate! The hair looked way nicer when just being released...did not like the violent brushing technique!
lmao it was funny, she was like why tf is he breaking my neck
What is the model's name?? Pleaseee if some on e know, tell me
Verónica Cibils stepcuts
Such a pet peeve of mine and when they brush the hair from the top.
SHE IS REALLY A BEAUTY !!!
Just lovely! I NEED to try out this tutorial with my karmin clipless curling iron. I hope to get it right
Such a classic look. Thank you for uploading this tutorial. Why do so many people always have to make snide comments like they're the best hairstylist? You wouldn't be watching this tutorial if you knew how to do this, now would you?
ShiitakePDX actually 😏
very nice yooo
For the ones unsatisfied with the brushing out: I understand your rage, but if he didn't brush it out, it would just be curls. Period. The modern-retro, 1940's look IS this wavy, brushed out thing. A bit Veronica Lake (unless you do the tighter, over-night curls ofc.) I do agree that the balm makes it too greasy near the roots. But other than that, this looks like a REALLY easy 1940's look, instead of the hours and hours of pincurling. + The bumping cheat-trick near the roots: New trick there!
Omg this is one of the nicest one I've seen so far
I like how they had the model herself do it as well!
Gorgeous! I love this.
I'm big fan to Johan's products
She's gorgeous and what a lovely manner about her!
Totally agreed! Without the brushing there would be no point in calling it retro. Also, these tricks will save loads of time when I can't sleep in pin-curls
Sooooo gorgeous, I loved it!!
Amazing video! Was wondering would it affect the result if I used hair conditioner as I wash my hair?
her hair looks gorgeous
Love this method!
Aww she was so adorable
ขอบคุณสำหรับเทคนิคดีมาก
she is so perfect.
Yeah its amazing
that girl is so adorable!!!
Muchas Gracias !!! Aunque es en inglés , respondiste a muchas preguntas que tenia con solo ver el vídeo !!! Hermoso !!!
It looked very good without brushing it so harshly... and in the end it just looked greasy. So many products, bleh. Shame, she has very nice hair.
my gosh I love that model's face she is absolutely stunning! her face is so vintagey ;]
I wouldn't exactly call them curls...more like "slight retro wave."
BEAUTIFUL
The model Emma is soooo cute!
Very helpful thank you!
this looks soooo easy xxx
I love your bedroom!
That is 100% true! While watching it I was thinking that it looked better before he brushed out all the curls
so what was the purpose of doing the curls when u add what ever product to make it straight again?
Great look!
love love love it will have to give it a go
good.
Using this will i get hair fall? (Indian hair)
I loved it. Thanks
easy and so nice
nice! I'll need some help but I'll try it out with my karmin g3 clipless!
so prettyyyy
Beautiful!!!
Yaaaaaaaaaas that looks good even before he brushed it down
“To give it a much more ‘up to date’ kind of feel”, I thought that these were RETRO curls!!!😡😡😡
which one is it? do you recommend it?
thank you so much,You are very professional. i like it!!
Its just so amazing
Really nice & easy
And what we should use if we don't have these products ??
I love it so much...
Wow so awesome
which curling wand do you recommend for profesional results?
This is awesome!
3:41 this is amazing even this shape
glamorous!!
I like way you do it
I would just do the uprooting thing and the parting because I think it looks good that way
when he puts a syrum or moose in her hair i swear i smelt it everytime
Que amable, me encantó el tutorial!👍👍
I love it!!!
Fantastic
I love your client ❤️
Love it
where can i get the wax or pomade???? i used to use it but it was discontinued here in the states.
+Christian Anguiano Dominique Sasche (sp?) also has hair tutorials and she lists ALL of the products she uses. The pomade is one of them. Look her up and I'm sure you will be just as satisfied...
I don't know why everyone is freaking out about the hair brushing. The final look he had was the look he was aiming for which is more delicate waves, if he wanted big crazy curls he would have done it otherwise.
She is beeaaautiful!
What the hell? Where are the curls? He ruined them lol.
LOL, exactly what I said too...
Silmarien Ingoldo this is a 40's tutorial, that's what they did.
Silmarien Ingoldo yeaahh haha
Shelby Martinez this video is kinda misleading... the style is meant to be 1940's Hollywood waves "inspired" with an "updated feel"... in 1940's they would use a much smaller barrel size so during brush out the curls would not lose as much shape💁🏻
loved it!! thanks!!
love the look,it's so hight fashion
Wow very good
My hair is short I dont know if it will work on mine
What are the little metal clamps/grips called?
What is the curl iron used plese ? I need the reference
he brushed all of the curl out? if you didnt want them to stay tight then why did you let them cool set? and why is there a dark pin in her blonde hair? i dont mean to be so critical but it just seems like this one missed the mark
duck clips. you can purchase from Sallys or any urban hair store
Perfection
Whats the barrel size of the tongs??????
I love this awesome
