- Hey guys! The Dude is back! Audrey has been doing such an incredible job keeping up with the channel, I appreciate the team holding it down and allowing me to spend time with my growing family. I am very excited to do this video on how to set up and care for a Mississippi Map turtle. I’ve never done a video like this, but I find keeping turtles to be so rewarding as long as you are financially ready for the commitment these little dudes need to thrive. In this video we will review appropriate aquarium sizes, filtration and how it works as well as making sure your water quality is correct. I will be creating a 20-gallon long Aqueon aquarium for one of our captive born and bred Mississippi Map turtles available at our point of sale. My Mississippi Map Turtle is almost a year old and had only a 30 gallon tank but for Christmas I’m excited she gets a new tank,decor,and new filter. I’m soon getting her a big out of the tank basking area and I’m gonna upgrade her to make it better

Anyone looking for turtles check out stinkpots, loggerheads, and razorback musk turtles. They stay small and are very active.

Red ear sliders love duck weed. Something worth thinking about putting in your shop if semi-aquatic Is the direction you want to start going in.
So true Biodude. Too many people can't take care of aquatic turtles. If someone wants one that can love it's life in a 40 gallon breeder get a musk turtle. It will need really good filtration though. I got a Loggerhead Musk and they have a lot of personality.
Also guys if you get a musk they generally do well with other fish. They aren't as good of swimmers as red eared sliders or maps. I have experimented with a few. Some people recommend cichlids but they have a reputation of going after turtles eyes so I won't use them. I use neons. I can't guarantee their safety but my Loggerhead does not go after them so I lucked out.

Omg this is great I had someone give me a turtle they knew nothing about the turtle age type anything but they gave . I’m gonna buy all this stuff!!! Did some research found out it’s a wa Tucci map turtle I know nothing but whan to make scoot, ( named it after it shell).

hi!!! i just wanted to say that i love watching ur videos, i love the way u set up ur reptiles enclosures very nice. i just had one question tho does cork bark mold easily? i notice that u use it often so i was just wondering. i want to upgrade my ball pythons enclosure bioActive so i'm not sure ??
hey! Just need to make sure the enclosure isn't too moist and damp all over, all the time.

Hey biodude! You said when there small to do the frozen but what do we do when they get bigger? Wouldnt the frozen be to small for them at that point? The store down the street have full grown adults and I want him I have the 175 gallon, pond filter, and ordering decor now but idk what I would Feed it or where that stuff may be available. Would feeder guppys work as a replacement for the frozen?
I need trumpet pods I spoke with Sarah excellent customer service by the way .she told me you guys have them but your web site says there unavailable that's another reason to put them on amazon. If You're store is out of stock I can still go on amazon get the product while still supporting your business
I was just gifted 2 of these little guys. I think they're about a year and a half old. They seem to really suck at swimming. I heard prior owner setup was almost like a shallow river so they didn't have to swim much. Should I be worried putting them in the mount of water you show or can I just have faith they'll figure it out?
Also any tips on setting up for a Kuangtung turtle? There's just about no info out there for them.
Are Graptemys Pseudogeographica the same as Trachemys Scripta ? I received 2 as a gift and they said it was a Trachemys but they look like a Graptemys

i live in a place where water is extremely hard... about 400ppm general hardness and 7.6-7.8ph, is this ok for a map turtle? or do turtles need soft water?
What kinds of invertebrates would you put in to help clean the tank? I’m working with and African bullfrog and his aquatic side is 18 gallons (I’m following the rule of using a canister filter 2x as strong) Are there any animals you can think of that would be good?

Hi! I just got one of these little guys and I am trying to figure out what to do for film over the eyes? I know nothing about turtles and he was an emergency take in, I am trying to educate myself as much as possible

As they get older, do they need as much decor in there or is it more important they be able to swim freely? Like if I had all the hardscape on one side then freed up the other side for swimming?
Offering a combination of both options and a diverse range of choices enables them to have alternatives and the freedom to select according to their preferences.

He says they need a canister filter, but the tank in his store has a little shitty whisper filter😂 35:11

Depends on the turtle growth and species.

I know I’m commenting really late but I just got a Mississippi map turtle he is very inactive only sleeping and walking around his basking area. Is something wrong or is he just tired?
I would recommend taking your turtle to a vet just to get checked up on and ensure everything is okay. I am unable to provide any medical advise but I'm sure a vet can help and confirm for you!

A five-inch male needs a minimum of a 55 gallon, not 75. However, it is much more comfortable for both you and the turtle to have a turtle of that size in a larger aqurium.

Mississippi map turtles live in some the nastiest water you have ever seen. Easy to keep if you are making any effort to care fore them,
You guys rarely answer your phones I've been trying to buy monkey pods and trumpet pods for a month but your website says there sold out but I was told by an employee they were in stock .

Put monkey pods and trumpet pods on amazon you missing alot of money. you are one of the only few people selling them . there are a lot of people in the hobby that have access to them and don't know you sell them especially new hobbyists.

You say 75 gallons of a male and 120 for a female. Does that mean 200 gallons for a couple?
For breeding purposes the male can be added into the females tank and be removed as he will consistently pester her to breed so its best to keep them separate.
