I just got back a few days ago from the Scarlet Lady. I’ve been on a lot of ships and cruised with several cruise lines and the Scarlet Lady is now my favorite ship! The food and drinks are amazing! And there’s multiple unique restaurants and they are FREE! We tried a new restaurant every day and it’s hard to choose a favorite because they are all great in their own way. The staff is friendly and the shows are very entertaining. It’s even got a tattoo shop! And there’s also an arcade and the games are free to play.
It's a really fun ship isn't it? It's just a little bit more different than the rest to be extra interesting and a fresh experience. Glad you enjoyed it. :)
With regards to the restaurant and the food being free; is there a limit to how much you can eat in a day or how many restaurants or meals or dishes you can order? Also how are the prices for the cocktails/drinks in general. I know they don't have a drinks package, which is fine, if the food is free.
As a 26 year old, I'm so excited to have a cruise ship that has things that cater to my interests. I feel like too often I'm forced to choose between a loud, child-filled option or the more mature, classic option.
Great review. Some of Scarlet Lady’s minor negatives (like all ships have) were unfairly overplayed and over exaggerated when she first launched. She is a wonderful ship and I think you’ve highlighted many of her wonderful redeeming features. She is an absolute breath of fresh air to the premium adult only cruise market.
Couldn’t agree more Steph. I glossed over the little niggles because the greatness of the other stuff out-weighed the negatives. Most were standard stuff anyway - dodgy internet (solvable), tiny bathroom (pretty much standard on new ships these days), minor complaints about the app (which will undoubtedly be ironed out very soon). Not worth mentioning in a video that will last years IMO. 🙂👍
To not say that Virgin has listened to the last year's first cruisers complaints!... Apparently they've sort of ironed out some of the complaints at that time during the lockdowns!... They've apparently slightly tweaked the pool area, some of the bedding problems on the regular staterooms, among other minimal things, very visible to someone attentive enough. Compare this video with those and you'll see!... So now: Is Virgin for me? Not at all, once I'm such an "old school" cruiser!... But, nice to know they're listening at some point. Let a different product to thrive. We need choices, and all of them are valid if they suit the needs of whom picks them!... Meanwhile congrats "Visit with Us" for the nice video!...

Thank You that was a very informative and realistic review of a ship I have been fascinated with from the start, as I am a big fan of the Virgin brand! The reason the Crew are so happy and vibrant is because they are probably considered to be the best treated crew of any cruise line. I will wait for the Miami experience and I truly look forward to sailing with one of these Ladies soon!
I'm turning 50 next year and I'm still friends with two guys I've known since kindergarten. They've tasked me with finding a cruise for us. This video was a great introduction to Virgin for me since I've only sailed with Disney (and the US Navy!) Great information and I'm off to finding your dining guide next!

A great vlog Rich & Helen.... not a ship for us but I'm certain it will be a success. Good marketing in the US is critical they go up against some BIG hitters who are well versed.
Great video. You should do this type of quick review for the other ships you go on too. Still unsure that Virgin is for us and the list of cruises we want to do is long (and keeps getting longer thanks to you and Helen) but certainly the less outrageous areas of the ship look lovely. Looking forward to the more detailed videos as the food seems to be getting rave reviews although the presentation seemed a little rushed in some pictures I’ve seen.

Wow, great video! Short and sweet but packed with information, just how I like them. An incredibly positive review. I would have said that Scarlet Lady was most definitely not for me but I love, quirky design features, unique, avant-garde entertainment, great food, friendly crew and hidden away quiet places so you've sold it to me. However being such a sceptic I'm wondering if I've fallen for Scarlet Lady's charms or yours.🤣🤣🤣 For now the jury's still out.

A great insight into the ships, I still feel like the deck space is crowded, but I think those into their fitness will love it (I am evidently not one of those people!) Look forward to hearing more about the food - this sounds like such a line for foodies! I loved my experience at the Test Kitchen during previews, it'll be cool to see what else is onboard 👏
I am definitely one of the foodie people 😋! And the fact that the restaurants as far as I can see are all free sounds utterly amazing to me 😍! Though I wonder if there is a limit to how many you can do in a day 🤔. I'll have to check out the dining video 😁. Not to mention how much the cruise is gonna cost you if all the restaurants are included in your fee. Also wonder if it would be cheaper or more expensive than the Hawaii cruise I got scheduled for 2023. Definitely more research is needed for me on my end lol 😅.
Really enjoyed this tour, and completely agree with your point re: seating on the decks. I was really pleasantly surprised at the fact that I didn't need to hunt for a seat at any point (granted, I was on a UK Cruise, but we did have 1 days of great sunshine, but seating was aplenty!).
We just returned Friday night from our Alaska cruise on the Celebrity Millennium and getting caught up a bit, I just watched Emma's and Gary's review of the Scarlet Lady and all of you were very positive about the experience, especially the food. I may give them a try when they come to the US based on what each of you have said. I do like the idea of being able to book a different restaurant every night and I like a little different entertainment as well. Thanks for the excellent review.

I don't think she would be the ship for me. maybe the OTT hype was just a promo to get her noticed. If so very clever of Mr Branson coz. it obviously did the trick.
Well Liz, we WERE intrigued so thought we’d see for ourselves. Helen was more unsure than I, particularly as we’d only got back from a Silver Moon voyage literally the day before, but she actually enjoyed it. Yes, it’s different, but every know and then, that’s really not a bad thing. 🙂

Good video, we went in August and our main complaint was the lack of entertainment, things being cancelled and nothing put on in their place, you seemed to have so much more on your trip than we did.

Not sure I consider a handkerchief pool a minor issue unless the ships based in Iceland permanently. Or poor storage in cabins bedside. The decor looks nice though.
All depends if you swim or dip. There’s plenty of exercise choices on board. Also, we found the storage to be adequate for our 7 nights of stuff and ton of camera gear. Looks are deceiving. 🙂
I have trouble walking and cannot get up from low chairs. As I watched i just wondered how many chairs I could sit in and get up from. The ship did not seem handicapped friendly or pooh sized person friendly. Older and big people are not going to do well.

Oh Phooey! Well not really. We're on our boat with limited wifi bandwidth so can't indulge in the 4K VWU experience. :-( Both your and Emma's reactions after getting off your trip incline me to not automatically reject the Lady. 71 years old here. Please comment on the noise level in various places. Unlike when I was the target audience's age, loud venues are now painful and useless to try to talk in. This looks like a cruise that we should take when some friends in the target audience are going. Thus, being able to vicariously enjoy the parts we might not otherwise enjoy. Hi David and sorry for the late reply. I hope you've enjoyed the videos so far. I've still got about 20 on the 'to do' list so please keep watching! I'm with you about loud venues. My hearing is not what it used to be and talking in certain places is all but pointless. We found the noise levels on Scarlet Lady to be better than expected. Of course there are loud areas for those that like to party, but we also enjoyed many parts of the ship that were peaceful and relaxed too. On the whole, noise wasn't a huge issue. I hope this helps! :D
I’m not sure because we weren’t on board when she came to the U.K. the first time around. I know that the giant comfy record player seat is no longer there though. 🙁
They’ve definitely made some changes from what I’ve seen in videos. They seem to keep the bed setup always unless you ask and it’s the default setting. There’s still quite a few uncomfortable seats but still plenty better ones near by
@@robertsammons1 I think leaving the bed setup as a bed is a good move, I didn't like the concept but they are really so comfy! I do think they'd really benefit from adding just a couple more drawers in cabins in the other ships (speaking as someone who doesn't pack light!)
I have never been on a cruise before and I'm thinking about booking this one. A have a few questions if anyone is willing to answer I'd appreciate it. Question one, is there smoking allowed on cruises, and if so where? Number two, will a normal cell phone make calls? I understand about towers and whatnots, but do ships have a relay or something? Number three, should I bring cash? And lastly, do they require you to wear a mask? Thanks in advance to anyone willing to answer.
Sorry for the late reply. Haven't had TH-cam access for a week! Answer 1: Not sure. I'm sure they DO allow smoking but it'll be in a designated area. 2. Making calls from ships usually requires access to a very expensive satellite connection so be very careful. It's VERY expensive, especially data. The best thing to do is connect to the ships wifi and use wifi calling, not 4G. 3. No need for cash, everything is chargeable on your ship account which is linked to a credit card. If you like you can bring local currency for spending on shore but it's not necessary. 5. Most ships are still requiring masks in indoor public areas unless eating or drinking so please check with the individual cruise line you're interested in. This just looks utterly tacky, annoying, and low class. At least it will keep the people who enjoy this crap off of the nicer cruises so those of us with standards can enjoy the better quality ships without them.
Scarlet Lady was by far the worst cruise I've been on. Yes the ship was beautiful (brand new) the staff were nice and accommodating. The lack of variety in meals and food and entertainment was by far not worth the price paid for a pretty ship. The same acrobatic show which by the way was sold out most times. The food court style food (in the Galley) never changes. The restaurant had only very late dinners or waitlists. Room service became the best option. No information except on your app which goes down daily. Never again!!!

Thank you Wayne. We were surprised at how much thought they'd put into everything. It's not just about all night parties and glittery costumes - there's some really quirky entertainment that was right up my street. 😆

May not appeal to all, but then again, Cunard's Queen's Grill doesn't appeal to all either. It will be, IMHO, a niche cruise that will survive.

Not sure I consider a handkerchief pool a minor issue unless the ships based in Iceland permanently. Or poor storage in cabins bedside. The decor looks nice though.
All depends if you swim or dip. There’s plenty of exercise choices on board. Also, we found the storage to be adequate for our 7 nights of stuff and ton of camera gear. Looks are deceiving. 🙂
I have trouble walking and cannot get up from low chairs. As I watched i just wondered how many chairs I could sit in and get up from. The ship did not seem handicapped friendly or pooh sized person friendly. Older and big people are not going to do well.

Both your and Emma's reactions after getting off your trip incline me to not automatically reject the Lady. 71 years old here.
Please comment on the noise level in various places. Unlike when I was the target audience's age, loud venues are now painful and useless to try to talk in.
This looks like a cruise that we should take when some friends in the target audience are going. Thus, being able to vicariously enjoy the parts we might not otherwise enjoy.
Looking forward to the upcoming videos. Yours in particular, but Emma's as well.

Hi David and sorry for the late reply. I hope you've enjoyed the videos so far. I've still got about 20 on the 'to do' list so please keep watching! I'm with you about loud venues. My hearing is not what it used to be and talking in certain places is all but pointless. We found the noise levels on Scarlet Lady to be better than expected. Of course there are loud areas for those that like to party, but we also enjoyed many parts of the ship that were peaceful and relaxed too. On the whole, noise wasn't a huge issue. I hope this helps! :D
Is it my imagination or did they make some changes to some of the spaces after their initial debut where they got no so great reviews?
I’m not sure because we weren’t on board when she came to the U.K. the first time around. I know that the giant comfy record player seat is no longer there though. 🙁
They’ve definitely made some changes from what I’ve seen in videos. They seem to keep the bed setup always unless you ask and it’s the default setting. There’s still quite a few uncomfortable seats but still plenty better ones near by
Yeah the bed was surprisingly comfy given all the bad press a year ago. 👍
@@robertsammons1 I think leaving the bed setup as a bed is a good move, I didn't like the concept but they are really so comfy! I do think they'd really benefit from adding just a couple more drawers in cabins in the other ships (speaking as someone who doesn't pack light!)

I have never been on a cruise before and I'm thinking about booking this one. A have a few questions if anyone is willing to answer I'd appreciate it. Question one, is there smoking allowed on cruises, and if so where? Number two, will a normal cell phone make calls? I understand about towers and whatnots, but do ships have a relay or something? Number three, should I bring cash? And lastly, do they require you to wear a mask? Thanks in advance to anyone willing to answer.
Sorry for the late reply. Haven't had TH-cam access for a week! Answer 1: Not sure. I'm sure they DO allow smoking but it'll be in a designated area. 2. Making calls from ships usually requires access to a very expensive satellite connection so be very careful. It's VERY expensive, especially data. The best thing to do is connect to the ships wifi and use wifi calling, not 4G. 3. No need for cash, everything is chargeable on your ship account which is linked to a credit card. If you like you can bring local currency for spending on shore but it's not necessary. 5. Most ships are still requiring masks in indoor public areas unless eating or drinking so please check with the individual cruise line you're interested in. Scarlet Lady was by far the worst cruise I've been on. Yes the ship was beautiful (brand new) the staff were nice and accommodating. The lack of variety in meals and food and entertainment was by far not worth the price paid for a pretty ship. The same acrobatic show which by the way was sold out most times. The food court style food (in the Galley) never changes. The restaurant had only very late dinners or waitlists. Room service became the best option. No information except on your app which goes down daily. Never again!!!
