- In this video, I take a look at quite the old Creepypasta tale about an ominous prototype of the mysterious Super Mario 128 tech demo from years past as I offer my thoughts on the story. Hope you enjoy!

Glad to see you're back, Dennis. This creepypasta is pretty interesting to me personally since it is always neat to see creepy stories based off of early or unreleased media.
Small nitpick, but if Toad were more sad and sorry instead of angry it would have felt more fitting, maybe giving even more weight to the whole loss of innocence idea. Especially since toad isn't a very realistic character that you would not see in a "real" setting.
As a creepypasta, the story is pretty bad, there's barely anything creepy aside from the possibility of Nintendo going into darker stories. But as a sadpasta, I think it's very good! The one-liner really works in that case, as it symbolizes that this game was an entire "funeral" and "grieving" to innocence in the game industry throughout the story.

I feel like this story is a little silly when thinking about it as something Nintendo actually made, but it’s very good as a more of an art piece regarding the social climate of video games :]

I have a soft spot for video game creepypastas like these. They're often a guilty pleasure.
I feel like they should have chosen another character instead of toad, it's kind of comical thinking of toad telling people to piss off and die in that squeaky raspy voice
Tbh, after hearing some bad creepypasta videos on the Michael Leroi channel and hearing them joke about Toad and mimic his voice - like, after hearing one of them shout in Toad's voice, "Live or die on this day!" - I think Toad is a very fitting character. XD
this story can be summed up as
"It's the nature of time that the old ways must give in, its the nature of time that the new age comes in sin"
Even though this story has flaws, I'd honestly say it's pretty good.
Yeah, it is well written despite its flaws! The author has talent!
instead of saying that he was crying or something, I woulve said
"he started to understand the whole premise, leaving him somewhat sullen."
and instead of shutting off the console and never playing again, I would've replaced it with
"without any obvious exit, he sighed and shut off the console. Though it wasn't scary, or outwardly depressing, the message the game gave to him would always linger in the back of his mind when he played Mario from then on."
Those are some great points that I agree would have definitely improved the story and made it feel more believable. Good stuff!

Jokes aside, I like that this story gives a bit of background instead of just jumping into it and being all "I found this game online. OMG IT'S ALL BLOODY AND SCARY I DON'T WANNA PLAY THIS SERIES ANYMORE!"
It makes the themes more prevalent.

I still want somebody to write a Creepy Pasta about the cancelled grim dark "Tough and Bloody" Spyro game that Activison/Toys for Bob
were attempting to make prior to Skylanders. Spyro is probably the most easy character to use for a 'lost of innocence' type
story especially with recent events that went down in Activision studios Ala the downfall of Skylanders.
That story theory sounds like an interesting one.
I actually didn't mind the story ending on the line "Innocence" too much. Could have sounded kinda open ended. I like open endings. I'm just not too happy about that this word was what ultimately caused the author to be like, nope, this is too much, I'm quitting.

I’ve missed you, my g❤️ I was rewatching some of your old videos recently to help me through a rough time.
The original game titled Mario 128, the Mario 64 sequel for the N64 disc drive, never came out. However, Mario 128, the one that was shown as a tech demo for the Gamecube, did eventually come out in 2007 on the Wii, and today has sold over 12 million copies. Of course the reason many people didn't notice it came out was because at some point in developement they changed the name to Mario Galaxy after deciding to make the game set in space, but maybe that part isn't particularly important.
Even if this story has some “peculiarities”, I’m a big sucker for stories based off of early or unreleased media. Also, It’s very nice to see you again!

I actually really enjoy when someone likes something I don't. Value is in the eyes of the beholder and I was laughing quietly during most dramatic scenes of the pasta, tbh. I did like the idea of it's plot, but it's just really hard to make this idea work in a short story, specially using a real franchise. Trying to make it more sad and less harsh was a good plan, but I think making it full sad would be better for the concept, making the "Innocence" at the end look more like a disheartening vent of sorts from the developers instead of an edgy game detail the author didn't like

Didn’t expect to see you here. I enjoyed this read. Certainly flawed by a margin, but if I’m being generous, it’s leagues better than basically 90% of gaming pastas which are either Sonic.EXE or Ben Drowned clones.
I think if this story were to be cleaned up more, have an even more refined set up and a sombre and or subjective ending add more hints towards the problems that faced Nintendo at the time other than an edgy metaphor with dead kids which I found rather redundant and boring.
For what it is, it’s probably a 6 or a 5.5. Not written by a dyslexic ape on a type writer, with a few interesting ideas sprinkled in, however the story itself should be refined to be creepier, and have a more coherent narrative instead of being metaphor after metaphor. An actual storyline other than the opening text to the game would’ve made it interesting as two stories could be playing out at once, those being Mario’s and the behind the scenes of the game.
Someone else in the comments said this, but it feels more like a feelpasta than a creepypasta.

This is a weirdly well written story. Or at least it seems like a well thought out story. Though I'll be honest the ending made me laugh, I was so entranced with the story that when he was describing how he felt about the tombstone I was expecting it to say his real name, or to be Peach's signifying that Mario died for nothing which could've been upsetting. But no, it wasn't anything disturbing or scary it was just sad. Though, the authors reaction to it is what made me laugh lol, if his reaction was something a little more understanding it would've fit well with the setting and vibe the story was going for.

I feel like this pasta has several issues which could be solved by observing horrific elements in actual Nintendo games, especially Luigi's mansion and super paper mario.
I also feel like looking at how sonic games became darker and edgier would be good inspiration.
I think the grave saying innocence could represent the authors loss of innocence as hes growing up hence the strong reaction. As hes growing up he is expected to move onto more violent games rather than sticking with mario
it's meant to represent Nintendo's feelings about the death of innocence in videogames, like every other metaphor in the story. i think they made a few too many metaphors for the same thing

I remember listening to Yuriofwind read this story, it's a little weird to hear someone read it and not crap on it the entire time lol
128 was supposed to be a worldwide server game with other marios that were actual people from online and 128 marios would mess around and be able to talk to each other however due to the game not having enough severs and it didnt have online because that wasnt possible

Hey, if you want a break from all these old creepypastas and want some genuinely good horror, I think it’d be really cool if you looked at the walten files by Martin walls! It’s a fnaf inspired (but don’t worry, it’s lore isn’t frustratingly convoluted and it actually is pretty dang scary, it takes a few concepts from fnaf but is mostly fairly original) analog horror series that’s fully drawn and animated and really well made in general, it’s just rly rad and I think it’d be cool to see someone like you check it out! (:
