Pleasantly surprised to see Tabu @ 0:40 She is a talented Indian actress underutilised by our own industry. The trailer seems to follow the Denis’s storytelling style from movies, looking forward to it. 📺
@@muhammadnabil9314 It takes place some 10,000 years before the events in the movies. It is inspired by the novel "Sisterhood of Dune" by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It deals with the rise of the Bene Gesserit. The most important event of that era is the Butlerian Jihad.
No sorcery involved. Just a group of women who vastly developed their natural abilities over centuries, so they look supernatural to average people. Same with the Mentat School for men, who replaced thinking machines successfully, The Suk School for great doctors and healers, etc.
I'm not going to lie. I kind of downplayed this show. Even made fun of it. I may yet eat my own words (and I hope I do). There's no way around it. This looks impressive and epic, actually epic not just pretend. I did not like the movies and am actually glad Denis Villeneuve is not involved. This looks more interesting to me than the movies ever did. I'm cautiously optimistic and hope this turns out as good as it looks.
@@evanwhite2845 The direction, writing, casting, score. I found the movies to be bland, boring and a chore to watch and get through. As for the production values and cinematography, it's nothing remarkable, that I haven't seen before. Are the movies the worst I ever seen? No. But I also think, speaking for myself only, that they are quite overhyped and overrated. Besides Oscar Issac, Josh Brolin and Rebecca Ferguson, the rest of the cast left me indifferent...while Timothy Chalamet and Zendaya were reasons enough to want to at times quit watching. Zero on-screen presence, zero chemistry or anything remarkable about them...looking more like algorithm generated search results on social media, than flesh and blood people, let alone actors playing characters in any convincing manner. Denis Villeneuve is a talented and capable director. My favourite movie of his remains "Sicario" (Josh Brolin was in that one). After "Arrival", which was a solid and interesting movie as well, I think he fell off by picking these "prestige projects". "Blade Runner 2049" was a cinematic abomination which I thoroughly despise as a fan of the original. Then there are the "Dune movies... I have never been a "Dune" fan per se. I'm more like a tourist, familiar with the overall universe, but not a dedicated fan or gatekeeper of the lore etc. I have tried to get into Frank Herbert's books several time', but couldn't get hooked. But even so, I realize and understand how important his novels are to literature in general and sci-fi/fantasy in particular. The 1984 movie is just pure kitschy cinematic shlock, though some of the soundtrack is nice. Ironically, thought dated in terms of the special effects and the lower budgets, Sci-Fi Channel's "Dune" (2000) and "Children Of Dune" (2003) miniseries were the best adaptations in terms of the story...better than the movies in that regard. Sorry for the long-winded response...

Exhausted of Hollywood praising real life witches

Witches aren't real😂😂
This is not Herbert's Dune and is nothing more than feminist fan fiction.
I was just fearing as much
