Enies Lobby did show us that you cen be a devil firut user and not even know , Usopp when he does go o The Boin Archipelago eats a weird fruit that looks just like a devil fruit , So i think Usopp is a devil fruit user and does not know it. if you did not know your powers and you had them , you would not know to use them, others had to be told. I think when Usopp's Haki Awakens , its not Haki but it devil fruit powers.
People forget that Usopp is an average guy in a sea of monsters. And as a simple man he is actually top of the top. He doesn't have mutations, DFs, cybernetics or anything else. He is Koby as a pirate. But for some reason people praise Koby and laugh at Usopp
Honestly, I have seen the opposite, I have seen more people shit at Koby for being weak and way too much behind Luffy than I did people who hate Usopp, most of what I see surrounding Usopp are jokes of people saying how Go D. Usopp is top of the verse and can solo everyone else except for his great nemesis Buggy D. Clown (but I unironically want a fight between Usopp and Buggy so god damn bad, it has the potential for some incredible comedic genius especially since both characters NEVER saw each other and only know the other by reputation. And if Usopp beats a Yonko by himself then he 100% would have the second highest bounty of the crew, just imagine the comedic genius that would be to see Zoro and Sanji's reaction to this)
@@onlinebob1732 That would be my matchup as well if the Cross Guild stays the same and the SH were to face them, but there is also the very real possibility that other former Shichibukai (notably Doflamingo and Moria) may join their ranks in the future. In which case assuming both of them join I'd go : Zoro - Mihawk Sanji - Doflamingo Usopp - Buggy Robin - Crocodile (though Jinbei might also work even without the personal background the two have as I really want to know how the Suna Suna no Mi and Fishman Karate interact) Brook - Moria I don't know but I would really like a line up like that, but I'm not sure we're going to get it ....
I just realized. Usopp left a big impression/had a big hand in saving all the giants we've come across so far. Dorry, Broggy, Oimo, Kashii, and Hajrudin. I have a feeling by the time the Strawhats reach Elbaf, the stories of Usopp being a great warrior of the sea will have been told to the other giants and Usopp will be welcomed as a brave warrior on an island that is literally called the land of proud warriors. And for once, his fables will be true and not lies and they will precede him!!!
So in a sense... Instead of Usopp wanting to meet and get inspired by the giants. The giants are the ones who are desperately waiting and hoping their hero comes to their island? WOW...
What I find the most fascinating about Usopp is that he's the only member of the crew who has actually reached his goal even if he himself isn't aware of it. He wants to be a brave warrior of the sea, bravery isn't the same as being fearless, bravery is FACING YOUR FEARS and Usopp does that every single time to clutch for his crew. Imho Usopp already is a brave warrior of the sea even if he doesn't know it.
A part of it is that Usopp's goal isn't as material (not using this word in the cars and money kind of materialistic, I just mean tangible) as the others, his goal is an ideal, he can keep aiming for the ideal forever every day.
@@takeuchi5760 It's also not an impossible dream. it's not the GREATEST or the most AMAZING, just to be counted among the many warriors, probably by now he is among the best, certainly in his role, but even broadly above an average veteran pirate.
Except this is exactly why Usopp has yet to achieve his dream. See, his whole character is about his own insecurities and he can only achieve his dreams when he himself believes he is a brave warrior of the sea. He needs to learn to accept himself for who he is. We see this part way with Peronna when instead of becoming confident and positive, he embraces his own negativity and cowardice, which leads him to being cautious and strategic. But he has yet to fully accept his value and his bravery. We see this in his reaction when people started calling him god Usopp, he clearly doesn't believe in that title nor any other titles he has given himself in his lies. He needs to genuinely regard himself highly without it being a lie for his dream to be achieved.
Another thing about Usopp: his battles are almost always entertaining because you never know how they’ll be resolved. The creativity Oda uses to help this goofball feasibly defeat enemies always gives me joy.
"OF COURSE IT WAS FAKE! YOU THINK I COULD LIFT 10 TONS?!" is a line that's stuck with me ever since Alabasta just because of how bloody hilarious and unexpected it was
Usopp's fight against the fishman guy whose name I can't remember in Arlong Park always stuck with me. That was the fight that got me to like Usopp as something more than a supporting character. Honestly his fights are really endearing, and I always wish we got more of the goofy antics and strange fights like Nami trying out the Clima Takt for the first time, Usopp vs Perona and Zoro with his Sogeking Sword. You can just tell Oda had fun writing those fights any time Usopp gets to cook he COOKS
"The biggest lie that Usopp's telling is that he's a coward" Holy shit, I love this line so much because it's so true. Usopp Is the bravest character in the entire series but his lack of self confidence prevents him from seeing himself objectively, so he lies to everyone and he lies to himself that he's a coward because he can't see past the fear he has when he's staring down absolute monsters and see how brave he is for fighting them anyways.
@@jeremalice I am formally asking you to tell me what character we had been introduced to that could have more represented threatening to shoot Holy Light of God himself in the eye more than Kizaru? Who has enough bravery to take aim at God? [set aside the arc not long before where they meet a man who calls Himself Rap God]
Usopp's sheer will is even proven in the Wano arc, when some fodders are trying to attack Usopp, Big Mom sends out some Conqueror's Haki nearby, which instantly knocks out those mooks and even startles a gator smile fruit user. But Usopp? He doesn't even flinch or bat an eye, seldom faint. He's just wondering "What was that?" and when he realises he immediately starts using it to his advantage, saying that he used the Haki, and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he actually could use Conqueror's, he can already use Observation Haki unconsciously though. He was even brave enough to object against Luffy who wanted to replace Merry, their friend, with some other ship, and even left the crew for a while, becoming Sogeking to help the others save Robin. What a living legend, who turns his big lies into bigger truths.
@@obeseoverlold There's actually a very cool theory that Usopp has had conquerors for a while. Every time Usopp beats someone by scaring them (Ms.Merry christmas, Perona, Sugar, etc) they foam at the mouth just like when someone is knocked out with conquerors. Someone is knocked out by conquerors not when their significantly physically weaker but when their willpower is significantly weaker. However due to his low self confidence he needs to weaken his opponents willpower, convince them of his overwhelming strength, trick them into beliving there's that overwhelming strength gap that there normally is in conquerors haki, and in turn giving up their will to fight and leaving themselves vulnerable to his weak conquerors haki. There's also an idea that in the moment Usopp buys his own hype, convinces himself he's lifting a 10 ton hammer, and that boost to his confidence also strengthens his conquerors haki.
I think the most important thing people miss about Ussop is that Oda once said in a manga SBS that Ussop was *meant* to be the weakest member of the crew. He isn't supposed to be strong, hes supposed to be...him, the sniper, the storyteller, the guy who cheers people up
I honestly didn't even know a lot of people didnt like Usopp. He's so clutch and his sheer will matches the rest of the Straw Hats. And hes sympathetic, that scene when Raizo's location was revealed 😭
he also fights in an unconventional way and wins. the hate comes from him being "weak" but they dont understand or they forgot that the straw hat crew has different roles
@@midnight-jh4cw he's so underrated. He actually has visionary Haki that's also underrated. It was actually first revealed that he used it when he told Robin to believe in Luffy at Enies Lobby. Go back and check it out. Then we actually see it fully at Dressrosa.
I can't imagine hating ANY Strawhat. They're designed to be a team, to pick up the slack that another Strawhat may leave, like Sanji said! I didn't like Usopp at the beginning when he first joined because I, at that point, didn't understand his strengths and character. Now? Top 3.
@@panjamysy Ussop top 3 I respect that, only if Sanji isn’t being shafted lol, my top 3 is Sanji, Brook and Copper I do love Ussop though he might be 5th for me after Robin idk though there all so good, jokes aside I am curious what you’re top 5 is? what do you say.
The fight with Perona was also a great display of Usopp's emotional maturity because he was the only one who could push through his negative thoughts, something even Luffy couldn't. Luffy can do things nobody else does because he never really has doubt in his abilities, which is another reason why he was so emotionally crushed after Marineford. Usopp on the other hand almost always severely doubts wether or not he will succeed, but even so he keeps trying, and more often than not, he pushes through.
Usopp embodies the essence of courage, "Courage isn't not having fear, it's having the determination to push past that fear and overcome the obstacle in your path."
Dragonball basically has reduced any character discussion in shonen to just their strength mattering/being valuable, considering most plots revolve around fighting. But One Piece's plot goes beyond just fighting but we ignore it because of that.
@@islandboy9381 Which is really sad because Dragon Ball is a story about rising to the occasion even if you're not sure you can handle it. About striving for improvement because you never stop learning. When you really look at it only like 3 of the characters really matter for the fights but the characters and their individual contributions really have a lot of effect on the various plot points. I really hate when Dragon Ball gets reduced to power levels, a mechanic that's debunked even in universe.
Power scaling only shows raw power, but some characters may not be powerful but are still important to a story. Ex: Murada from demon slayer, Mellow from Death Note
I really like the sogeking part of usopps character because sogekings really just usopp without doubting himself. He’s putting on an act of confidence but by doing that he’s actually reaching his full potential, which shows he’s doubting himself for nothing. He actually is sogeking. I feel like Elbaf is gonna be when he’s forced to realise and actually fully step into the lore and everything surrounding his name and really be that guy.
@@walterborrtle3673 Actually, if you look closely at his mask, you'll see that it has a hole that reveals a very particularly shaped nose. We've seen a plenty of different character designs over the course of the series, but none of them have had a nose even close to resembling Usopp's. Only exceptions being Usopp himself, his mother and Sogeking. Now, I know this might sound crazy, but: Usopp might have a brother.
An important thing to remember is Zoro said "if the first thing he says is an apology then fine" and they all pretended not to hear him until he said *I'm sorry* . They were giving him a extra chance!
they loved him too much to give up until it would have been impossible ie, they had properly sailed away and i think the fact that even Zoro who is often the most rational of the crew and has very few one on one interactions with Usopp compared to the rest and who was the one to put his foot down about the apology in the first place went along with it goes to show just how much they all care for each other as a family and not just a crew
@@nevembra9850the relief on Zoro's face when he heard the apology makes that clear. He wanted Usopp back just as much as everyone else, but he knew what had to happen first
Usopps storyline always reminds me of when Sokka left the Gaang to train in swordsmanship in The Last Airbender!!he doubted himself for being the only non-bender in the group, but he had unique strengths himself and the episode showed the Sokka-shaped hole in the gaang when he was gone
I’ve been comparing Usopp and Sokka every since I started watching One Piece. They’re both kids trying to be strong in a way that someone else is, because they feel inadequate. They think they need to be fighters, but their strongest skills lie in strategy, inventing and support. They make art and jokes and tell stories but can’t seem to stop worrying about their role on the team. They’re genuinely so, so so so so much smarter than they think they are, so much stronger than they think they are, and also they’re both so stupid and I love them
I like that you brought up Dofflamingo one of the most evil liars in the series was so intimidated by Usopp the most good hearted liars without being confronted directly
Dofflamingo is the only character in one piece to correctly assess the threat Usopp poses, including Usopp himself. Unfortunately for Doffy, it was already too late...
Doflamingo uses lies to manipulate people, while Usopps lies have the power to manipulate fate. Doflamingo is the only character to realize Usopp has plot hax xD
@@komiks42 doflamingo started the day as a king and warlord with the key to immortality about to waltz into his grasp and ended the day on a prison ship
Ussop is one of my absolute favorite characters, right up there next to Robin and Traffy. He embodies the phrase "bravery is not the lack of fear, but the courage to face and push past your fears". He's a beautiful, amazing, brave man and deserves all the love
Ussop's name, while also being a play on "Uso" for lies in Japanese, could also be seen as a play on Aesop the Fable writer from Greek Mythology who actually did write down the boy who cried wolf, mirroring his own character arc
I love Usopp for being the spokesman of Anxiety disorder and depression in one piece. Perona seems undefeatable when considering that she can kill people's dreams instantly with her ghosts. For people who have never felt these disorders (speaking from experience), they'll kick your ass time and time again and make you feel like each new attempt to free yourself is twice as hard as the one before. This is a struggle that no one on the Straw hats other than Usopp has gone through. The Perona fight shows us that after Sogeking's unmasking and the Going Merry gone, Usopp has finally felt like he truly belongs with the crew because of his own merits; not just because he's funny or because he was a package deal with the Merry. He conquered his own insecurities, which is a superpower in its own right.
Usopp has no anxiety disorder or depression at all. He is just a coward really. But people get it. At least those who use their brains and a lot of fans understand his position. Everyone would fear for their life when faced with big time pirates Straw Hats regularly face. Sometimes he has anxiety ofc but its situational (like with any regular person). On normal occasions Usopp is very happy, outgoing and friendly guy. He is actually the most normal and ordinary straw hat member. He is average by any standard. He tell lies cause its his defensive mechanism. Some people laugh when nervous. I have met a lot of people who lie to fit in. Usopp is somewhere in between. Its just part of his personality.
@@sasagrcevic475 Perona's ghosts didn't turn Sanji or Zoro into cowards, they made them 'negative'. Usopp is a coward, sure, but that's expected, as you said. His anxieties that I'm talking about his Usopp feeling useless to Luffy and the gang and that he doesn't deserve to be on the crew with the rest of the heavy hitters. Nami even has a scene with Usopp talking about it, saying that that's why he's always tinkering, he's just trying to be useful. I guess you're right in the sense that he doesn't have a disorder, since over the course of the show we see him conquer those feelings and they don't stop him from functioning as a human being, but those feelings were still very much there.
Usopp made Nami's clima tact that enabled her to beat even a CP9 member. If that's not genius, I don't know what it is. And thankfully the crew got Franky now which seems to have established a thinktank with Usopp so that they can bounce ideas with each other and create new things with their workshops. Hopefully Franky gave a bit of stimulus to and fed Usopp's creativity, maybe boosting his confidence too.
Usopp's biggest lie being that he's a coward is genuinely a very beautiful way of looking at his character. I like that you covered the integration of Sogeking into who Usopp is now since we haven't seen him since. And I LOVE the comparisons to Sanji's internal struggles as well, it's such a wonderful, intimate connection that I feel all the strawhats share with each other in their own unique ways. 12/10 ma'am
I love how Usopp is pretty much everyone's best friend in the show. Luffy and Usopp is probably my favorite duo in the show. They always hang out together & always do the stupidest of things like Afro Luffy or doing impressions in the worst of times. Nami & Usopp is probably also my favorite duo, they are such a vibe & have amazing chemistry, often fighting together and running away hand in hand
There was a moment in Fishman Island where Usopp and Brook joke around while in a cage. Something both character have in common are to laugh it off in dire situations and then completely overeact.
One of my favorite things about Ussop is how he just doesn't participate in the power scaling, but doesn't wane in value at all. In a world where people can stop a bullet with sheer will power or slice a mountain in half, he's just a regular ass guy and he knows it. He's not even like Batman with the whole "I don't have powers, but I basically do because I'm better than everyone at pretty much everything" schtick. Ussop is literally bringing a slingshot to an arms race that escalated to nukes, and he still manages to be the one who comes in clutch. I almost don't want him to get any stronger. He'll still be the one who saves the day with nothing but a rubber band, a bluff, and a concerningly high pain threshold.
Usopp has been the strawhat hurt the most by the rampant rise in powerscaling/power fantasy parts of teh fandom the most. His greatest strengths as a character has always been what he does in the events AROUND the battle rather than the battles themselves. I'm so happy you touched on his connection to the idea of being "average" within the the crazy world of One Piece. It's a routine thing not only in one Piece but in many battle focused series that people tend to lean towards and favor the stronger, more flashy, more powerful characters because they embody the things we want to see/be in these types of worlds. Ironically enough the hate towards him is fueled more by a breaking of fantasy with a dose of reality than it does with anything to do with his character being actually "annoying". I've found most people who don't like Usopp play a lot of comparisons rather than actually discussing aspects they don't like about him, and the aspects they can mention are overplayed and casted over the strengths of them. I find his comedy to be some of the best. It's goofy, fun, and lighthearted, not to mention it often comes back in unique ways (insert Prophet Usopp joke here). His fights in early one piece are some of the most interesting because he actually uses a mixture of mundane and everyday items with things he manages to either make, learn how to use, or both. Mix that with the creative ways he uses them alongside his lies and bluffs end up creating some of the greatest set ups and finales to fights I've seen. And of course, as you touched on so incredibly, he grounds and keeps the crew together. He acts as a sort of support to the crew, helping in all the little small things no one else can do. The type of small things that most people look over in fact. He was the one who made their Jolly Roger, he helped keep the Marry afloat and was the one who assisted in the upkeep of everything. His biggest moments in every arc are when he helps get the strawhats that finale big swing for the finale or helps them achieve their current goal. But, that's not the big, crazy, punch battle spectacle most fans look for. I find it heartbreaking whenever I hear people saying they hated Usopp during water 7 because of his conflict with Luffy, because it means they missed teh core part of his struggle and a major point of the crew, they're a family. Everyone here isn't just there for a job or a niche, as you said. They're here because they uplift each other. The connection you made with Sanji, especially given your previous analysis of him as a character, works so well into hammering this home. They need each other not because they're useful for one benign reason or another, but because they care and love for each other and the shared hardships they've been through together. Whether it's the trauma they each have in their past, to the challenges they face in the future. They stick together, because they know they wouldn't be here without each other. There's a whole lot more I'd love to talk about but this is starting to become a small essay already. So for now, I'll leave this with a thank you for another amazing video! I've been really enjoying your content and even been looking into your older stuff too! I really appreciate the hard work you put into these and hope you keep it up! Remember to take care of yourself though. Can't wait for the next one!
Also th series doe him even less favours than robin. He barely gets to be an actual sniper and his uncanny eyesight. But he baely gets to actually stragetic snipe. With robin because she is as he calls herself a assasination specialist and its not tht story. I wish he in th raid could hav sniped kaido or something actually sniping from distance.
"There's a whole lot more I'd like to talk about..." Then do it. Please. This is a very good approach to the characters here, and I would be happy to hear more if you have anything thoughtful to say. As someone whose essay platform is often in the small margins of youtube, I wholey approve of yours. =)
Whilst I do sometimes get frustrated at how willing he and Nami are to run away in the New World I do think it makes sense for their characters and the situations they get into. These are two fairly ordinary people having to go up against monsterous characters who fight for a living. Usopp's story involves him constantly feeling he's out of his depth and making little steps towards becoming the person he wants to be. And I love him for it. He's such a real guy
I feel like they truly embody being a pirate in those moments. Pirates werent honorable brave warriors. They would cheat, lie, steal and run away if needed to. I hope Oda always keeps a little part of these tropes within the "weaker" characters.
One of my favorite scenes in the series was in Dressrosa, where usopp almost ran away from sugar, because he and honestly everyone else knew he couldn't win, but instead of continuing away, he turns around and runs towards it whether he can win or not, because he is the only one who can and will stand up for everyone. Watching him have that insane fear, and conquering it for others is something I love about him, because I struggle with anxiety, so everytime I see him turn around and fight, not knowing if he can even win, for the sake of the people who rely on him, are some of the most powerful scenes in the show for me because usopp is who I aspire to be.
Some people have complained about him running away, I think it was a powerful scene. Usopp returning to fight sugar and trebol despite him being scared and ready to fight to save everyone was so awesome! ❤
i like to think the reason the monster trio fought the franky family so brutally was less because of usopps bodily injuries but rather because they broke his spirit (or hit a weakpoint that had been chipped at for a while)
Sometimes you gotta talk the talk before you can walk the walk. There is a lot of power in the words we speak, Usopp's real power is his ability to manifest the lies he has to tell even if he doesn't believe them in the moment and constantly pushing his own limits for the people he cares about and for himself.
In the same light, that's why I love both Nami and Usopp so much. They seem weak but in reality their reaction feel very close to what any average person would feels in front of a dangerous situation. And it's also the fact that when someone or something that they love is in danger they would not hesitate to fight for them even if it means confronting their own fears and insecurities.
There's so much to love about the apology scene. Like how everyone pretended to not hear Usopp before he apologized because Zoro said if the first thing that comes out of his mouth isn't an apology he's out.
What I love about One Piece is that the characters feel so real. Usopp in particular. Him lacking confidence does not get solved in one battle where he shows up, but it is a slow progression of constantly having to show up, push himself out of him comfort zone and getting more and more confident in doing so. I also see people mention how Usopp didnt develop as a character because he ran away from sugar & trebol in Dressrosa, but this was his bravest moment yet !! He jumped into action, fully aware that he would probably die, to save some strangers he meet 3 hours ago & people still call him a coward because he hesitated before doing so. Usopps will never be someone to blindly jump into action like Luffy is. Every battle Usopp faces is also a battle with himself, he fights with so little self believe that he managed to make the negative hollow from perona depressed, yet he still fights. I just really love him
I've said this time and time again, Usopp is the only sensible on in the Strawhats. He keeps everyone together and has the most common sense lol. Water 7 was his arc as much as it was Robin's!! He's incredibly useful to the crew and the most underrated person in the entire series!!
Zoro mimicking Usopp's lies with similar goggles should be enough for everyone to recognise our beloved liar (Thank for bringing it up, I missed out on such a good detail)
usopp is one of the most realistic characters that has ever written, be it his personality or be it his moves, reactions, thoughts... him not being like one of the monster trio is what feels so real to me, he has a average strenght like any normal person. i saw so many people who hates usopp getting scared or trying to escape from some hard situations but it is one of the things that i can relate so much, it feels like not a fictional character but a real person 🙆
Ngl, I still get teary eyed when Ussop shouts his apology when he wants to join them again and then Luffy starts crying too. It's such a wholesome moment and it makes me so happy that they're all such a good family.
I once learned of something called the "Batman Effect", meaning the more you distance yourself from your original self the more confident you become in completing your tasks. Wearing a mask is just a way of expression, I think. And shedding this mask, and slowly but surely incorporating this 'fake' confidence in your true self is really amazing.
I'm really glad you featured Sogeking in this video, people normally don't do it when they make a video about Usopp. Willingly or not, Sogeking was a very important ally and taught Usopp a lot of things.
Something else that I think people might be missing about Usopp, something that was even clearly stated in Dressrosa. He is a sniper, someone who acts as *backline support*. And, as you've gone through here, he is extremely competent in that role.
Usopps fight at the end of the Alabasta arc was my absolute favorite part of an insanely incredible arc and solidified him as my favorite Straw Hat. The whole time he’s completely unmatched and we see him take hit after hit but repeatedly get up when someone is making fun of his friends dream, even after seeing his skull cracked as well. More than a sniper or a liar, truly a God
Anyone who gives Usopp the love he deserves definitely deserves love :D It'd be unfortunate without Usopp as Nami may never reach her full potential if not for his inventions, it was funny watching Luffy and Nami mourned Usopp as the Clima Tact was first unveiled, but it was kinda sad Luffy didn't smile for like 15 chapters after his fight with Usopp.
I love how u explained Usopp's character bc he gets a lot of unwarranted hate due to others misunderstanding him or simply living in ignorance. He deserves so much appreciation and recognition for who he is and what he does. Usopp is essentially the heart of the crew and is so "human". He's been a comfort character of mine. His strive for self-improvement while accepting his shortcomings is so inspirational and moving to see. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEOOOOO
21:38 You ask if Chopper knew about Usopp being Sogeking. I think he did in an often overlooked detail. In Chapter 595 when Chopper returns to Torino Kingdom for his timeskip arc, he returns dressed up as a superhero with a mask and a cape and calls himself Chopper Mask. The locals in Torino point out that Chopper is just embarrassed to return so soon. He copies what Usopp did as Sogeking so I think this was Oda's way of telling us that Chopper knew at some point and may have even just played along with Usopp because he's super kind like that. Also, I really like your One Piece videos. I was hoping you'd make an Usopp one.
Ussop is my favorite one piece character for various reasons He makes me laugh, gives me anxiety bc he doesn't have some overpowered ability or skills or body, so when he gets hit...HE GETS HIT, he gives me hype for his victories and i love how intelligent and crafty he is
It makes no sense that people dislike him because he's "useless" combat wise (which is like, not even the best metric anyways, Nami ain't killing Kaidou, but the Strawhats wouldn't have made it past the red line if it wasn't for her) when most people wouldn't even leave their island Dude's fighting basically monsters with a fucking slingshot and WINNING He's inspirational as hell
Courage and bravery isn't about being the most fearless and unstoppable warrior, it's having real fears and worries but still pushing on forward. Thanks Ohara...
I’m currently watching one piece and something I’ve noticed a lot is how chopper looks up to Usopp like how the kids on the island did. Of course he’s loves Usopps stories like luffy does but he’s also always impressed with how smart and brave usopp is. You see it a lot during skypia and it’s really sweet to see usopp being the kind of role model he looks up to for chopper without realising it
Most shows I feel like have a hard time replicating an actual human argument. But the whole scene of Luffy and Ussop arguing was perfect. Especially when Luffy was about to say something out of emotion and Sanji had to correct him. It felt so heart wrenching and real! I didn’t want these guys arguing, it genuinely made me sad! I didn’t even think about the fact there’s literally like 800 more episodes of the show with him in most of them later on, I was hurt!
I agree that argument was so well written because it felt like an irl argument. Misunderstanding the situation, saying things out of anger, and the most painful part..leaving. It was like watching my best friends fight each other.
I mean, pretimeskip Usopp was still sexy enough to charm the rich girl in town. And given that all his lies eventually come true one way or another I do want to see them have a whole bunch of kids.
It is always a joy to hear someone analyzing these characters’ core, and I’ve been adoring all of your videos, but Usopp has a special place in my heart because of all the things you’ve listed about him. Like it or not, he is the most relatable straw hat there is in the crew, he is a tough cookie and incredibly smart. He is depressed, and insecure, and it’s a man between monsters, but he always does his best and his best is always enough. And I just love that you put it into words. Thank you for spreading the Usopp love ❤️❤️❤️ our god needs it
Little Garden was the arc that won me over to him. Both his interactions with the giants and fight alongside Karoo were amazing in terms of coreographie and writing.
Something that I use for my defense of Usopp is that he’s a long ranged fighter that gets put up in close ranged fights early on most of the time. It makes sense for him to panic because obviously a sniper shouldn’t be on the front line of battle. Adding to the fact that most of the enemies in one piece have incredibly powerful devil fruits and levels of haki, I think Usopps fear is pretty justified. He’s physically a normal human that thrives best on the back of the battlefield.
There has been a few lies Ussop has told which have in different terms come to reality throughout series, one in particular “A beautiful swordswoman has the meat” then a little further down the road we meet Rebecca.
I would love you to do a Franky analysis I feel Franky is sooo overlooked and underrated, his backstory was so good but sadly overshadowed by everything that was going on in Water 7/Enies Lobby and I would like to watch and analysis on the guilt he carries because of his past (and in my opinion, the shared feeling of guilt that maybe was the reason him and señor pink understand and respect each other)
Usopp is SO underrated in Punk Hazard. Getting all of Cesar's underlings on their side was no small feat and it's the first time any Straw Hat declares that yes, Luffy will be King of the Pirates. Also, Bon Clay played a similar role in Impel Down (cowardly, still rooting for Luffy, and getting allies to also root for Luffy) and it's worth noting that people loved that character arc for them, but when it's Usopp suddenly no one can read. Usopp has so many people convinced he's useless, and that couldn't be further from the truth. But even if he were useless, the Straw Hats love him and that's all that matters. I hope we see him use Haki again. I literally cheered when he made that shot.
Usopp is a great character. Always loyal to himself and his nakamas. Always kind with women, men and children. Even he loves his father even though he left him alone. Always thinking ways of being stronger. Always helping his people (Nami wouldn't be strong without the weapon he did for her) I love him❤ i like how kindhearted he is
One of my favorite things I noticed was how Luffy and Zoro willingly ignored everything Usopp said before, “I’m sorry”, because it was the condition for Zoro to accept him back to only hear him say I’m sorry.
I really hope usopp fulfills his dream before the rest of the crew. Because it would be just so great seeing him stride through the final chapter with confidence.
Genuinely happy to have been reccomended one of your one piece essays once. I've been enjoying your content ever since! You're analytical, funny, and well-structured. Keep doing your amazing work!
Usually the people who have struggled with depression have been with Go D USOPP from the start, because he's the underdog, one of us, who cheers himself up using lies about him, until it works
There are two things you didn't mention: 1) Yassop sailed with Shanks for a while before Usopp was born. Meaning that he's the symbol of his and Banchina's continued love and relationship. Of course there's no ill will from her. She knows and understands the choice he made and imparts both onto Usopp. At least indirectly. Of course he can't help but admire this myth of A Man. 2) Back in Arlong Park, there's this moment where Luffy tells Arlong that his crew do what he can't. And for Usopp, that is to lie. He overhears this, still sticking around after "running away," but that only helps to make the point we saw in Syrup Village. Usopp lies to himself and others to do what he does end up doing. But he doesn't truly believe in them. Probably due to the deep-rooted abandonment issues he still developed despite admiring the cause of them. He's the polar opposite to Luffy in this regard. Who didn't know, or even considered, that he had a father who left him behind. To whom the very concept of lying, be it to himself or others, is foreign. For Luffy, there's only doing, his immense self-confidence built from the ridiculous trials Garp imposed on him and wanting to fulfil his dream and (then) two promises. Which only makes his wavering in his fight against Lucci and the encouragement he got from Usopp all the more powerful. There was no lie there, only truth. And we see that on full display with the Mask of Sogeking gone. Thinking a bit more on father figures in One Piece, I'm curious about your take on the importance of A Father in the story. You always mention them when they come up, but I do believe that there's a larger thread to be had. Especially since they are the most important to the male characters. Which isn't to forget Vivi, Lola or Chiffon, but those, alongside Yamato whom we can debate a bit for either, are the exception. With Vivi being the exception even among them. There's a lot to be examined about Fatherhood in this story.
Usopp is my favorite character. One thing I never really understood is why people call him the “normal” or the relatable one. As if Nami is a monster compared to him. Usopp if far from normal he does superhuman feats all the time in one piece. I also think you can aspire to be like any straw hat. They all believe in their dreams and work hard to achieve them. Just because luffy is made of rubber doesn’t mean you can’t try to be like him. Other than that I think this is a great video about Usopp!
My favourite part of Usopp's character is that the lies he tells wind up true. Which this video showed me is less quirky writing on Oda's part but more so that Usopp is essentially 'manifesting'. Thanks for showing me that!
Before Jinbe joined, Usopp was my favorite Straw Hat. The fight with Luffy and that whole "I'm already Negative" line hit me in the gut in a way I never realized I understood and suddenly a lot of things about me made sense. I often feel like I'm worthless, that I'm not as smart as my younger siblings, that I have no real talent, that everything people say they like about me is just a result of the false persona I put on just to get through the day with as little problems as possible. But there are people that have seen under that mask and like what they see, I'm not stupid, if anything my merely admitting I don't know as much as I want is a good sign I still have so much potential for learning, and I do have an amazing talent, I just don't have ways of using it for making money. Here was Usopp continuing to try his darndest even though he was clearly out of his league and he beat those challenges each time. He was the most human member of the crew and the most relatable. I love this guy so much I actually have a SogeKing costume that I wore to a con once. He inspires me to keep trying in spite of everything the world tries to do to keep me down. I'm not the worthless teammate. I am the heart and the storyteller. I can meet any challenge with my friends by my side. And things will get better.
Thank you for this, you did him a lot of justice. This video reaffirms why he is my favorite Strawhat and the character I would always root for, a lot of people misunderstood him but I'm glad there's a video like this out there to make the ones who hate him to be able to understand his character.
Your character analysis videos are amazing, even after 20 years of being obsessed with OP you always point out so many things ive never thought of, a series as deep as OP it really needs many perspectives to get even a bit closer to understanding anything. Hope you make many many more and heres a comment to feed the algorithm gods in hopes it reaches few more people!
I've always thought Usupp's one of the bravest character in One Piece, because even though he's been afraid of a lot of things, even shaking and crying, he faces those fears! He knows his limitations and still, he's done a lot of things when he's needed.
Yes, finally! I love your analyses, they always offer me new points of view on the characters and on Oda's way of writing them. Personally one of Usopp's Dynamics/relationships that I like the most is with Franky (he's quite underrated and I hope Oda will explore it further or cover more). How their relationship begins and how it evolves taking into account that Usopp does with Franky what he should do with his father; they work together (Franky has a high opinion of Udopp's abilities), often compete in sniping (this has been seen in the movies).
It amazes me that every lies usopp used to tell is becoming true overtime. Like the giant sea monster that looks like a golden fish whose shits becomes small islands near Little Garden. Usopp already got lot of followers in Dressrosa and 2 giant followers in Ennys Lobby, and it is probably going to expand as the manga reaches Elbaf. It is going to be a cliche, but I really hope that Oda presents us with a scene, on the world war against the world governement, where Usopp yells "BEWARE MY 8 THOUSAND FOLLOWERS" and then 8000 followers shows up to fight with the King of Snipers.
These are the best One Piece videos on TH-cam!! Beautifully written, this one in particular hit me really hard, the notion of being human and flawed but valuable is really hard to come to terms with but its such a beautifully expressed sentiment through Usopp's journey.
I think the main issue is his intrinsic importance Sanji and zoro are always on the main stage, Jinbei and Brook have some of the best back stories, and Robin Franky and Nami are imperative to get to the one piece, and chopper keeps everyone alive if you asked someone "what does the crew need right now?" Usopp's description is probably not popping to their mind I love the guy, but I get it
I think Ussop's intrinsic importance is the fact him and fluffy are both connected to the Red hair Pirates and the fact that he is a Liar. It is very important
While Usopp definitely has importance, like when it comes to needing, y’know, sniping skills, the main point is that Usopp doesn’t necessarily need to be strong for the crew to like him. Luffy was more than willing to invite the tree guy from thriller bark cuz he looked cool. What matters is their bonds. The fact that the whole crew just so happens to be strong is cuz of story convenience. Like how there just so happens to be enough high ranking goons beneath the arc’s main bad guy to give each crew member a fight
Characters like Usopp, Krillin, and Luigi are my favorite kind of characters, "The Cowardly Lion". I love this trope because even though theyre honest about what scares them they can still be depended on to get the job done. Fear doesn't control them but makes them honest about who they are
Even before the Going Merry fiasco, in Arlong park when Luffy is listing why he needs others to achieve his dreams, he tell "that's why a have swordmans, a cook, a navigator and a liar". Of course for Luffy this skill is as much as important as the others (kind of how Sanji "bad traits" is what Luffy finds best). This is played as a comedic moment, specially by Ussop, but Luffy was really serious about how Ussop lies are as important as the others rôles. But imagine how Ussop felt to be the liar of the crew and being compared to Swordman, Cook, Navigator... No Wonder it all boiled down at Water 7, but in every arc since his introduction Ussop usefullness is put through the test, in his regards
Usopp is by far my favorite character. He’s so lovable and human, he says exactly what I would say. And also I love the cliche of characters already being what they wanna be, and let’s be honest Usopp has been a brave warrior of the sea since he set sail.
Haven’t actually finished the vid yet but I just wanna say I’m really happy you made this because I’m so tired of writing paragraphs defending my black brother here 😂 the short version of the rant is that it drives me insane how many people bitch and moan about him being a useless or a coward when that makes no damn sense (I know you explained this) but at the root of it, it just bugs me because it’s the exact opposite of the point Oda is trying to make. He’s clearly trying to show that you don’t earn your spot on the crew by needing to be a fearless powerhouse. This aint the big mom or beast pirates. Time and time again luffy shows that if you’re down, you vibe and you’re willing to put your life on the line respecting everyone’s dreams, then you are in. He even said before that all his friends aren’t strong like him and that’s okay because he, Zoro and sanji will get strong enough for it to not matter. It’s always been friends and respect first above everything. Even though everyone happens to have a role, it’s not why luffy recruited them. He didn’t even know chopper was a doctor, usopp was actually a good shot, brook was a musician or Robin was crucial to the poneglyphs. He saw friends who respected the gang and that’s all he needed. And in what universe is usopp actually a useless coward anyway? People bring up water 7 like he didn’t face his fears, join the battle with everyone else and apologize at the end, promising to get stronger. A useless coward isn’t playing sniper king and putting his life on the line burning down a government flag for the homies. People get stuck in this utilitarian shonen ape brain of “be strong or you’re useless and I hate you” and it’s so annoying because that’s one of the themes Luffy is directly opposed to. It’s so sad because it’s like people miss the entire point of his insecurities. He pours his heart out about feeling weak and it just goes in one ear and out the other for some fans who then go “you’re weak I hate you” huhhh??? And not to get overly dramatic but that honestly is a real life problem and it’s very telling that people still miss the point when it’s so clearly laid out
You have definitely listed off most if not all of the reasons that Usopp is by far my favorite character in this series, ever. There's even so much more about him that hasn't been said. It warms my heart even reading the comments. Wonderful analysis for such a character who is so deserving of way more love than he's gotten from the fandom. LOCK OOOOOOON!!
I never actively disliked usopp or found his cowardice as a negative thing, but wow you still convinced me that he is a lot better than I was giving him credit for. abandonment issues go crazy huh
I feel the biggest sentiment that comes to my mind when I think of Usopp is the concept of embracing what you are and accepting what you are not and making the most of those two. Thank you for making another wonderful video about our darling StrawHats!
I know this isn't related to Usopp but I love that the Eternal Pose Robin planned to give the Straw Hats after Whiskey Peak led to one of the Island Eater's Island Sized turds
Usopp is one of the most relatable. He is a normal human, using everything he has. He uses his mind. he uses tools. he feels fear and summons courage. I like his sniper role. His sling shots are cool. Can create cool story or game with his slingshot
Thank you so much for this video. Usopp has been my favourite StrawHat for years and I am so happy to see other people appreciate my boy how he deserves. I will defend and hype him till the day I perish.
I think a core moment that is shown when first introducing Usopp and I’ve taken to heart is that his lies are often his own wishes. And he repeats them so often like to his mother that pirates are coming, because these wishes are often for others! This line I think will carry over to Elbaf where he’s the god of Elbaf or something haha.

Subed your videos are amazing
People forget that Usopp is an average guy in a sea of monsters. And as a simple man he is actually top of the top. He doesn't have mutations, DFs, cybernetics or anything else. He is Koby as a pirate. But for some reason people praise Koby and laugh at Usopp
True, true.
And if Usopp beats a Yonko by himself then he 100% would have the second highest bounty of the crew, just imagine the comedic genius that would be to see Zoro and Sanji's reaction to this)
@@sephikong8323 I'm imagining Zoro vs Mihawk, Crocodile vs Sanji, and Ussop vs Buggy.
@@onlinebob1732 That would be my matchup as well if the Cross Guild stays the same and the SH were to face them, but there is also the very real possibility that other former Shichibukai (notably Doflamingo and Moria) may join their ranks in the future. In which case assuming both of them join I'd go :
Zoro - Mihawk
Sanji - Doflamingo
Usopp - Buggy
Robin - Crocodile (though Jinbei might also work even without the personal background the two have as I really want to know how the Suna Suna no Mi and Fishman Karate interact)
Brook - Moria
I don't know but I would really like a line up like that, but I'm not sure we're going to get it ....
@@sephikong8323 I like this lineup, and the way the story is going, a couple of these matches might happen
Damn i didn't consider that it was always Ussop saving the giants! His tale of going to be legendary during that arc
By the time the Straw Hats make it to Elbaf, Usopp will be a legendary warrior himself.
So in a sense... Instead of Usopp wanting to meet and get inspired by the giants.
The giants are the ones who are desperately waiting and hoping their hero comes to their island?
WOW...
oda is a goddam genius!
Eh, I mean it wouldn’t be the first time his lies become truths.
Exactly
Yeah. As it's said, courage is not the absence of fear, courage is acting in spite of fear
Another thing about Usopp: his battles are almost always entertaining because you never know how they’ll be resolved. The creativity Oda uses to help this goofball feasibly defeat enemies always gives me joy.
Usopp can't beat most of his folks with sheere force.
So he need to get creative with it.
Which seems fitting for someone of Joyboys Crew :D
Fr
"The biggest lie that Usopp's telling is that he's a coward" Holy shit, I love this line so much because it's so true. Usopp Is the bravest character in the entire series but his lack of self confidence prevents him from seeing himself objectively, so he lies to everyone and he lies to himself that he's a coward because he can't see past the fear he has when he's staring down absolute monsters and see how brave he is for fighting them anyways.
The dude is brave because he's literally scared of everything but still stands up to those fears when necessary
It's SUCH A GOOD LINE!!!

For things like that Usopp is the very embodiment of the phrase "Bravery isn't having no fear, bravery IS having fear but you do it anyways"
@@hylash5444 EXACTLY! I actually always argue against his haters with that exact phrase. Because it's true and it really is what Usopp's character IS.
Yesss
This comment is gold. I always thought that's what makes Usopp a threat, and stronger than Luffy.
Usopp embodies the essence of courage, "Courage isn't not having fear, it's having the determination to push past that fear and overcome the obstacle in your path."
I will never understand someone who dislikes a character for "power scaling" reasons rather than what they bring to the story
On my personal powerscaling tierlist Usopp is on top
He got some of the most powerful scenes and some of the most potential in the crew
@@goofyahh143 no way you just used power scaling and death note in the same sentence 💀
I really like the sogeking part of usopps character because sogekings really just usopp without doubting himself. I feel like Elbaf is gonna be when he’s forced to realise and actually fully step into the lore and everything surrounding his name and really be that guy.

they loved him too much to give up until it would have been impossible ie, they had properly sailed away and i think the fact that even Zoro who is often the most rational of the crew and has very few one on one interactions with Usopp compared to the rest and who was the one to put his foot down about the apology in the first place went along with it goes to show just how much they all care for each other as a family and not just a crew

Usopps storyline always reminds me of when Sokka left the Gaang to train in swordsmanship in The Last Airbender!!he doubted himself for being the only non-bender in the group, but he had unique strengths himself and the episode showed the Sokka-shaped hole in the gaang when he was gone
I really like this comparison. ❤
YES THEY'RE BOTH MY FAVORITE GADGETY BOYS
I’ve been comparing Usopp and Sokka every since I started watching One Piece. They’re both kids trying to be strong in a way that someone else is, because they feel inadequate. They think they need to be fighters, but their strongest skills lie in strategy, inventing and support. They make art and jokes and tell stories but can’t seem to stop worrying about their role on the team. They’re genuinely so, so so so so much smarter than they think they are, so much stronger than they think they are, and also they’re both so stupid and I love them

Ussop being a package deal with merry is so true lmao
@@sasagrcevic475…you realize that people with depression and anxiety can act happy, right?
I think there's a reason we don't much Usopp and Brook, that being he's still too scared of a talking skeleton to hang out with him alone.
Hahaha I forgot about zoro using him as a sword that shit was hilarious
There was a moment in Fishman Island where Usopp and Brook joke around while in a cage.
Something both character have in common are to laugh it off in dire situations and then completely overeact.
I can forgive Brook and Jimbei because there wasn't ghat much screen time where they interacted directly even in the movies and games
@@heek8964Honestly, look.
Brook would be scary in real life.
Bro wrote a book damn.
@@explosived.peanuttdaddy3695let it write a sequel. It was amazing
Love your take as well, keep em coming
"There's a whole lot more I'd like to talk about..."
Then do it.
@@9Calavera6Irl, pirates were mostly smugglers and weapons profiteers.
So Doflamingo would actually be the most "realistic" pirate in One Piece.
@@A.S._Trunks Including or disregarding his gay ass walk
Usopp just knows what battles he can win or not, so running away makes sense for him in a lot of scenarios.
but when push comes to shove, they still do their part!! nami standing up to ulti is one of my fave scenes in wano
i like to think the reason the monster trio fought the franky family so brutally was less because of usopps bodily injuries but rather because they broke his spirit (or hit a weakpoint that had been chipped at for a while)
Yeah 😔 That’s why I can’t condemn Usopp for the things that happened afterwards.
Damn, imagine writing a complete joke weakling character, and then continuously write him into the most badass heroic character in the series
,
Only my king usopp can do it.

Don't forgot buggy, that continues to fail upward
Sometimes you gotta talk the talk before you can walk the walk. There is a lot of power in the words we speak, Usopp's real power is his ability to manifest the lies he has to tell even if he doesn't believe them in the moment and constantly pushing his own limits for the people he cares about and for himself.
I almost spilled my drink at "Who are YOU? JUDGE VINSMOKE?"
That was soooo on point 😭
Ussop has some of the most romantic character writing, a child dreams so big that it seems like lies, and the lies come true
@snotloutisagod2956what???
He's incredibly useful to the crew and the most underrated person in the entire series!!
i truly love usopp, his swagless looks and cringefail personality has captivated me.
Zoro mimicking Usopp's lies with similar goggles should be enough for everyone to recognise our beloved liar
(Thank for bringing it up, I missed out on such a good detail)
usopp is one of the most realistic characters that has ever written, be it his personality or be it his moves, reactions, thoughts...
him not being like one of the monster trio is what feels so real to me, he has a average strenght like any normal person.
i saw so many people who hates usopp getting scared or trying to escape from some hard situations but it is one of the things that i can relate so much, it feels like not a fictional character but a real person 🙆
Interesting...
Ussop is by far my favourite member of the straw hats. I love him so much
I'm really glad you featured Sogeking in this video, people normally don't do it when they make a video about Usopp. Willingly or not, Sogeking was a very important ally and taught Usopp a lot of things.
Did we ever find out where sniper island was?
@@Grocgodile "Sniper Island is... In your Heart"
Anyone who gives Usopp the love he deserves definitely deserves love :D
It'd be unfortunate without Usopp as Nami may never reach her full potential if not for his inventions, it was funny watching Luffy and Nami mourned Usopp as the Clima Tact was first unveiled, but it was kinda sad Luffy didn't smile for like 15 chapters after his fight with Usopp.
girl, i am loving all these one piece videos from you. ty for doing us all such a service
Ussop is the definition of funny cousin energy
Well said
He’s the one family member that makes you excited to go to family gatherings
Ussop is my favorite one piece character for various reasons
He makes me laugh, gives me anxiety bc he doesn't have some overpowered ability or skills or body, so when he gets hit...HE GETS HIT, he gives me hype for his victories and i love how intelligent and crafty he is
It makes no sense that people dislike him because he's "useless" combat wise (which is like, not even the best metric anyways, Nami ain't killing Kaidou, but the Strawhats wouldn't have made it past the red line if it wasn't for her) when most people wouldn't even leave their island
Dude's fighting basically monsters with a fucking slingshot and WINNING
He's inspirational as hell
"The biggest lie Usopp's telling is that he is a coward" That actually sums up his character perfectly thank you
I mean, pretimeskip Usopp was still sexy enough to charm the rich girl in town.
Thank you for spreading the Usopp love ❤️❤️❤️ our god needs it
Finally, some usopp appreciation! I absolutely love these character analysis videos and I need more!!!

Little Garden was the arc that won me over to him. Both his interactions with the giants and fight alongside Karoo were amazing in terms of coreographie and writing.
An Usopp video from you is something I didn't know I needed but I'm happy to have it now. Keep up the fantastic work with these videos!!
When the man both has distance and can keep it he can put in WORK.
Enies Lobby and Stampede being two great examples. (Dressrosa too).
Always helping his people (Nami wouldn't be strong without the weapon he did for her)
I love him❤ i like how kindhearted he is
One of my favorite things I noticed was how Luffy and Zoro willingly ignored everything Usopp said before, “I’m sorry”, because it was the condition for Zoro to accept him back to only hear him say I’m sorry.
Keep doing your amazing work!
i feel exactly the same, youtube recommendations offers gems sometimes at least.
Usually the people who have struggled with depression have been with Go D USOPP from the start, because he's the underdog, one of us, who cheers himself up using lies about him, until it works
There are two things you didn't mention:
1) Yassop sailed with Shanks for a while before Usopp was born.
Finally someone gets it!! Usopp is definitely superhuman.
True. You can definitely aspire to be like any of the strawhats. It’s part of the reason I love the show so much. They’re all inspiring.
Nami’s got that Conquerer’s Haki, she ain’t normal lol.
(Partial /s)
Can we all just take a minute appreciate how much Rizz Usopp actually has, Kaya unlocked his Prediction Haki!
How their relationship begins and how it evolves taking into account that Usopp does with Franky what he should do with his father; they work together (Franky has a high opinion of Udopp's abilities), often compete in sniping (this has been seen in the movies).
usopp is my second favorite strawhat behind sanji. he's one of the realest characters and one of the strawhats I relate to most
It amazes me that every lies usopp used to tell is becoming true overtime.
Yes! I waiting for tht lie to come true
omg if that actually happens im going to bawl
These are the best One Piece videos on TH-cam!! Beautifully written, this one in particular hit me really hard, the notion of being human and flawed but valuable is really hard to come to terms with but its such a beautifully expressed sentiment through Usopp's journey.
I think the main issue is his intrinsic importance
Sanji and zoro are always on the main stage, Jinbei and Brook have some of the best back stories, and Robin Franky and Nami are imperative to get to the one piece, and chopper keeps everyone alive
if you asked someone "what does the crew need right now?" Usopp's description is probably not popping to their mind
I love the guy, but I get it
I think Ussop's intrinsic importance is the fact him and fluffy are both connected to the Red hair Pirates and the fact that he is a Liar.
He's my favorite strawhat for a reason, Usopp is the sweetest man in the crew and a great sniper in general.
another piece of art from MelonTeee 😍😍another top tier video as always! Thank you for all the hard work you put into your one piece videos!!
I never really cry from anything, but this analysis of Usopp almost had me. I really appreciate the work you did for him.
Characters like Usopp, Krillin, and Luigi are my favorite kind of characters, "The Cowardly Lion". I love this trope because even though theyre honest about what scares them they can still be depended on to get the job done. Fear doesn't control them but makes them honest about who they are
You forget an important moment when he scolded the samurais for rushing to their death and (implicitly) how it's harder to try to live and fight
26:55 I am legitimately begging you to make a video about how power scaling has the potential to ruin a good shounen.
