    Uneventful days are the best to have. Everything working the way it's supposed to, no extra stress. Love watching the T at work.

    Glad the Planter is working well. You have repaired the faults and with your good maintenance - it will last you for years. Thanks for the update Ethan. Take care. Fred.

    I work a full time job and also spend a decent amount of time working on the farm. I have cut back a lot of hours. It was starting to impact my health. As I get older I have found out my body requires more attention. You're on the right track of not working yourself into the ground. Overall it looking like corn planting is moving right along for you.

    Good job. Farming can be fun and I enjoyed it but in the end the farmer produces crops by the sweat of his brow, is bound to the land for long periods of time with little rest and is always looking over his shoulder at the next weather front (or not). Thanks for sharing.

    I noticed that also, get past the middle to 3/4 point of May the beans were about 6-10 bushel worse and stems were greener. On the corn some of my later planted stuff has been better than early planted😆 not sure why, polination maybe was better? Typically the earling planted corn will be a little better test weight and drier one would think but I've come to the conclusion get the beans in before May 20 if possible.

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Last 2 years seems the later you get anything planted the worse off it is. Get to hot and runs out of water in that mid July pollination time frame for corn so need to get that in early enough to pollinate before that hits. Then if beans are planted late enough they are still trying to set pods when we dried out in august they go all to hell to.

    As I watch your videos and see that you get things done with older equipment ya there are break downs but you still get it done no GPS or fast planters just good old iron. Ya the new stuff is nice but all the videos I watch where these guys with the fancy shit can’t plant because their GPS was down or a computer glitch they loose a day and some or them parts are expensive. It seems like those guys plant fast for one day and spend two days down you make it look great keep up the good work

    How many ACRES do you farm

  • @natevanlandingham1945
    @natevanlandingham1945 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those guys working round the clock are probably running all new stuff . It's about volume to make sure heir profit margin . That new stuff costs so much money to make those payments they have to farm so much ground and end up going round the clock to get all those acres done.

    Is the monitor calibrated for the wider rows the planter use to be

    • @bartheman7411
      @bartheman7411 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think after narrowing up to 30 inch rows, from 36, the monitor thinks the planter is 4 feet wider than it really is, on each pass. So, you're actually getting that much overlap, (of the toolbar, 2 feet on each end) compared to what it used to be (and the monitor is calibrated for). I'll bet that is where the difference is, between what the planter and the drill show for acres.

    • @bigdreamsonsmallacres
      @bigdreamsonsmallacres ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bartheman7411 you can watch him input 8R30” into the monitor. It only knows what you tell it. That could be a 60 foot tool bar with 8R30” and it’s doing that calculation based on distance covered X 8R x30”

    • @bartheman7411
      @bartheman7411 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigdreamsonsmallacres I missed that. In that case, you would be correct.

    the planter probably has more overlap than the drill with point rows and such we ran into that this year on the last field we were short on seed because of all the overlap on point rows and such that's were row shut-offs would pay for themselves

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can measure your fields fairly accurately with one of the websites... Just google: "google maps area calculator" or "area measure" something or other and you just drag the line on the edges of the field and HEY PRESTO field measured.
    Only thing this method doesn't compensate for is the field "pitch" but I think that is not that much off the real measurement.
    Sorry for the poor spelling, English is not my first language.
    Keep on the good work! Best regards from Croatia!
