Glad the planter is ready to go for the most part. I got a Sears/Craftsman drill for Christmas when I was a kid in the late 80's or early 90's. That drill has some torque!
It’s been Beautiful all this last week, everything is Greening up and Blooming Great. We need more Rain of Course but it will come. I am in Mid Michigan but I travel everywhere everyday. Yesterday Grand Rapids was Beautiful all Day. My Grand Daughter had a Dance Competition there in Grand Rapids, they competed from Teams all over Michigan, they took home Two Platinum, Two Gold and a Bronze Awards. They Rocked it out and that was just her age group team. There were other Frankemuth Teams competing as well.
Got to looking and was surprised to see that Milwaukee actually still offers some heavy duty corded drills that have a mostly metal case. The one is a 1/2” (7amp)model 1660-6 and weighs 11.4lbs rated for a 1/2” twist drill in steel. Another is a 3/4” (10amp)model 1854-1 at 350rpm rated for a 3/4” hole in steel weighing in at 19lbs. The other is model 2404-1 and takes a number 3 Morse taper(10amp). It runs 250 rpm with a 1-1/4” twist drill capacity in steel weighing in at 23.8lbs. I bet that behemoth would throw you around if it caught.
Your doing great. I watched a guy with a pretty new jd planter with a cat on the front try to wipe out an electric pole Thursday morning with his marker . The pole won with minor damage to the pole. Keep up the great videos.
I tore into the 3pt on one of my tractors because it couldn't lift the snow blade and while I found a cotter key had come off an internal linkage (main problem), the pressure relieve valve had a few broken coils in the housing so I ordered another. They say you should replace that valve any time you're in there working on the hydraulics. Yours may need it.
Thanks for another great video. I know what you mean about that old drill. back in ther early 90's when I was about 14/15 and living in the U.K. I had a part time job on saturdays and school holidays, helping a local blacksmith repair machinery and make iron railings and fancy forged stuff. They had one of those drills,it was ether a B&D or a wolfe that worked on U.K 240v, but the trigger use to stick on, he was an older guy in his late 60's so both of us held that drill on 2ft pipes drilling inch holes. I remember one day it grabbed while drilling lug bolt holes in a tractor rear laid on the floor. It was pretty well the first guy to grab the power cord on the way past the plug had to stop it L.O.L. I've still got a 9" hand held 240V grinder from the U.K here in Canada as well, a local guy was in the yard one day. He picked it up and was going to use it one handed, like he did with a 110v 5". i told him get hold of that and put the work in a vice, It'll drag you down the yard until the power plug comes out. He kinda laughed and reluctantly did as he was told after a death stare. His comment after" I'm glad I listened, that things wicked with the start up torque,it'd take my arm off in a hurry when it slipped " ! Take care.
On the hydraulic issues. I was having a similar issue with my 1550, at 2000rpm it would bypass and at idle it would be fine. I took the bypass apart, cleaning everything in the parts washer and replacing the spring resolved my issues.
I worked in a shop that had a old black and decker drill that had a toggle switch and would launch 2 guys with a 4 foot handle back when they made real tools
We went from 80°+ weather to cold and rainy and possible snow Sunday morning. Got the barley and alfalfa planted but corns gonna probably be more than a week. So I might haul some scrap with the good prices next week. 🤷♂️
Check into a GVS like a SKY TRAK i used to run 1 on that type of monitor When I bought my last ! they were like 300$ new but thats been a few years .All the NH3 bars around here run them on their Raven controllers
Up here in the Thumb pretty much the only guys planting are sugarbeet farmers. Had a buddy that planted soys today but that’s it’s though as far as anything else
Your alternator/regulator coupling problem: most modern alternators have a regulator built in, perhaps you are doubling up and can get rid of the regulator block on the engine (those blocks tend to fail fast I've noticed) -- that will simplify your wiring.
I have one of those black and decker drills. It was my grandfather’s and it absolutely will chuck you across the shop and give no shits.
They are tanks.

That’s a nice looking tractor and planter keeping old school alive
Getting closer to planting a step at a time great videos thanks
Yep
Good to see the planter working well

The bigger they are the harder they hit.
With your preparations on the planner now it looks like you'll be set when it's planting time. Thanks Michael
Hopefully
Gotta love ower michigan weather wouldn't wanna live anywhere else!
Sweet Oliver, it's a shame that they ran the business into the ground to keep the other side of the business up
Love it man keep it up my favorite part of pre season is changing fluids
👍🏻OFB!!! Keep it up young man 🇺🇸
Was hoping to hear a Detroit...the neighbors love ours
I’d never run a planter with anything Detroit powered.

That’s a lot of grinder. I don’t even like running a 7”.

I’m gonna try that if I remember to order parts.
I feel your pain on the torque limit on the new drills
It’s a bitch.
Looking good, getting closer to the fun.
Hopefully another couple weeks.
Glad you feeling better
Fun video.
Your description was great, well played.
I'd count it too, you pt seed to soil, thats planting.
Yep
Methodical setup - thanks for sharing
Thanks
I worked in a shop that had a old black and decker drill that had a toggle switch and would launch 2 guys with a 4 foot handle back when they made real tools
Good times.
More better huh.. 😂. Love the channel man, keep up the good work.
Thanks

Snowed here all day today.
I thought I seen a field or two along 12 in-between Mottville and Constantine was planted. That area is pretty light
What county in Michigan are you in? We’re in Genesee.
Looks like the grass was growing there more than Northern IL. Bunch of guys planted late last week/Saturday before the rain.
Been 80 here all week so things have been taking off.
Wish we could be planting here In Wisconsin, got the 1755 all set up and then we get rain today, snow tomorrow, and lots of rain next week
Same here.
That 1950 t is a sexy beast
Looks like some snow heading your way
Planted an acre for a test yesterday. 80 degrees. Woke up to an inch of rain overnight and 40 degrees Farm Boy!!Brr!
We’ve had snow all day here.

AGCO has a couple 6 row monitors they make new for satellite
dis-con-fuc*ulated is definitely a SW Michigan Term! LMAO
Interesting video Ethan
My dad had a big drill like that it was a sears and roebuck big aluminum drill
Big old tanks.
Up here in the Thumb pretty much the only guys planting are sugarbeet farmers. Had a buddy that planted soys today but that’s it’s though as far as anything else
Our early plant date here is April 20 so anything seriously planted before that is just reckless.
It is strange Black & Decker also owns Craftsman, Dewalt, and Porter cable. They are all as one now.
Never Knew That !! TY,,,,
More tool brands being owned by fewer companies.
I love it some fwags and a meshing weel 😂😂
I bet that corn when soil temp is right still has ok germination

It’s not a 1 wire alternator so no it’s not internally regulated….
The good thing about ground speed radar is it will still work if the GPS satellites ever all go down.
If that happens I think planting corn will be the last thing anybody is worried about.
be nice to have a spliter for that planter
No front fold planters will run a splitter bar.
Also what is speed calibration
Nathan Baker over at Border View has 300 acres in the ground. That's all he is willing to risk.
Not really a risk this far south . Alot of people are planting . My family included we are just north of Nathan by 15 miles .
Crop insurance plant date here is April 20 so anything before that is just stupid.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy wouldn't call it stupid . Risky maybe . Not everyone farms small scale .
👍🏻
a friend has the same monitor and runs a gps puck I can ask him what it is he said way cheaper than a radar
sensor one is where he got it
I think I just hate the new drills.
I have a Dickey John radar I’d sell for $500
Too long. 15 to 20 minutes
If you don’t like it don’t watch some of us like these long videos
@@mcleanfarmsryan3897 If it’s a channel I really like, definitely love the long videos. Learn a lot with longer videos.
Fun fact. If you watch the first half today and the second half tomorrow it is like 2 20 minute videos.
Don’t watch the hole thing brake it up I like the longer videos
More time, more gold from this "Farm boy". Live with it...
