TLDR - get the storm, the tsr is good but it can get a little noisy and a bit hissy at high volumes, the storm has the limiter which will get rid of alot of that unwanted noise and still deliver the good tone the same as the TSR does, the storm is basically a improved version 2 of the TSR
i have been following fillipo oliveri since the early days when he was solo dallas on youtube making acdc covers in the early 00's right up until today now i call him a "brother" we are friends on facebook and chat regulary, when he first developed the TSR (the original prototype in clear plexi glass) i was following his work closely and eagerly waiting for it to become available, right from the start he promised us there would be the tower version and the pedal version which would be exactly the same as the tower sound wise just in a smaller case, i knew i wanted the TSR pedal version, however me being in australia the shipping was quite expensive and the price of the unit was kinda expensive too so i didnt buy one straight away i waited and just tried to save up as much money as i could, by the time i was ready to buy one Fil told me to hold out and wait because he was developing the Storm at the time and it was going to be the better choice and that i should wait for that because it will have the limiter which will help reduce the noise a bit which the TSR cant do that and can get a little noisey when the gain is turned up, so i did i waited and when the first series storm pedal was released Fil looked after me with a good price and made sure i got one as they sold out very fast, when it arrived it was like xmas the best gift i had ever received was the tone that pedal gave me, i played it with my SG standard and marshall JCM2000 50 watt made in england model, JCM800 1960 cab from 1985, playing on the clean channel with the volume around 5 and the gain on about 6 the tone was still clean but just starting to break up with a little crunch, then i turned on the pedal and walla amazing it had "that sound" that i was waiting for all this time it pushed the amps tone in the happy place.

Way too much gain from the start. Acdc never used that much by the time angus used it. So it’s quite pointless.

I am considering buying one of these 2, so that's why I'm here at this video.
The TSR sounds fuller but honestly I think there's nothing wrong with the direct amp sound in the first place... It seems to have a good balance between single notes and chords with less harshness than either of the pedals.
Probably just need to crank it a bit more...

I have owned both. Both great. Listening back to a record I did in 2017, I used the Storm for the chords parts. It got a little too thick and muddy, Boosting a Bogner Ecstasy in Plexiglas mode. The TSR (which broke on me) was the best and most versatile boost I have used. It almost replaced my OG Klon. Which are 2 different beasts.

TSR definitive is the one, I still own one. I think it´s a bit about the voltage too you fit the pedals. I think on a minimum of 12 V or better 15 V you got an awesome sweety headroom much better than 9V

@@70footer for this boost/grit thing, definitely these are stellar pedals. It depends what you're looking for, but if you want to push your amp with amazing mid range harmonics, the TSR is awesome. Even though the Storm is supposed to be more accurate (compared to the original Schaffer), the TSR adds more juicy sauce to your tone.
