- Queen injects are one of these things that are absolutely crucial when you want to succeed in StarCraft 2 as a Zerg player: Without injecting with the Zerg Queens, you can not become a better Zerg player and you can not become the best player you can be!
In this video I discuss the two ways that I inject as Zerg in StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm with my Queens and I discuss what ways of injecting with my Queen I find the most effective and efficient.

Lowko, great video, I have just one comment/criticism: You did not mention "Wandering Queen Syndrome" when you give command for a cycle of injects and one queen is lacking enough energy and all queens wander across the map to different hatcheries, losing you the game instantly. Worth mentioning, and that issuing the "stop" command to all queens the instant something seems not right cures this.
The best way to avoid this is to actually stack (or queue more accurately) injects and make sure you have good creep spread in case they wander. It might be inconvenient having the Queens wandering around but missing injects is much, much worse. Also produce a lot of extra queens (around 10, based on some of the other videos.) If I want to specifically avoid any wandering also, I just don't use shift and the nearest queen with energy will inject there. It takes some awareness of energy also.

lowko what about a macro hatchery. u dnt need a queen injcting there? or u just have to hit spacebar again to ignore that macro hatch?
oh and thanks for the video. it really helped me alot. can u make a video about macro hatcheries? or how to manage bases like when to build drones cause drones become zerg bases right? but in a video u mentioned that 16 is the max saturation in the minerals.
so my question is do i need to build drones more than 16 cause eventually im going to build more bases or do i just need to keep the drone count to 16 per mineral and only build drones if im going to build something? somtimes i lose track of the drone count and later realize that i have less than 10 drones mining. XD

The problem with the backspace method later on in the game is when you have more hatches than queens. My queens tend to occasionally leave the hatch they're closest to and walk somewhere else to inject at that hatch instead. Because of this I have been hotkeying each queen to a different hotkey lately.

Pablo Sanchez Manzano Fix it by having a queen at every hatch, or build hatch so close to eachother that 1 queen can serve 2 by just turning around.
The latter one may not be the most optimal, cause realistically I think energy doesn't come back fast enough if you are always on point with your injects. But for someone like me who isn't that on point later in the game it works fine. :)
i have the same problem when i have 2 bases 2 queens 1 has energy one not and i start at the base where the queen has no energy so the queen with energy runs the shole way :/ any answers ?
Fabio Gründler One solution would be to clearly just build more queens😂 It's a benefit because they can defend, spread creep, and inject. So by getting more queens than hatcheries, you're actually giving yourself a favor. ^_^ Hope I helped!

This helped me A LOT..I didn't know about the shift things soo all my quens would walk to one hatchery rather that each injecting their own

Never thought of this way to Queen Inject. Usually I group my queens per base and cycle between them but this gets complicated late game for me as I have to move my hand from ASDF position to reach groups 5 and beyond. Thanks Lowko.
I watch this video a long time agao and it helps me so much tthan I start play some other games like lol and csgo. Now i start again to play starcraft and know that there was a video from you what helps me a lot for the queen injects. Yeah I've tried using different methods for inject, some can even cause your queens to be running around the map like crazy. Myself I don't like using the backspace = key because it is so far away. I rather be hotkeying my queens and hitting keys near the left side of my keyboard. I feel for me this is more efficient.
See I like when in a video someone says, this is one method, not "THE" method for doing injects. I will be trying this out, it seems to work with me. Now I just have to macro+micro better. ^^ LowkoTV you definitely have a good presense on screen and its comfortable. Keep up the awesome videos.

Great technique, and thanks for the tip on remapping spacebar.. Something I started doing to enhance it, is to remap the ~ key (beside the 1) to be group 0, and make those the queens group. can hit with pinky finger real quick

Thanks for the video, you've helped me improve so much with this simple tutorial! Sometimes though i have queens run around the map to inject a far away hatchery and i'm not positive what mistake i'm making there.
That happens when the closest queen doesn't have enough energy. It will default to the next queen with energy.

actually im a protoss player but i find this useful. To chrono boost nexi for probe production, it is better to change your base camera button to spacebar because you can quickly cycle through nexi to chrono boost.
even though chrono boosting nexus is not as important as injecting larvae, it is a nice little thing to have.
I use the ~ key since its right next to 1, and never shift inject with a group queens. Queens have a horrific pathing and don't prioritize accordingly. If one queen doesn't inject on time, she will end up heading across the base. It's really important to have a Queen at each base. Lowko is right, single command orders are much more better.
Every time I watch one of these I see how much I still have to learn about this game, I'm so insanely slow

An idea for a new video on overlords and what to do with them throughout a match would be awesome. I really have no clue where to place them and how many to place around a map, and when to morph them. I know you can do a lot of stuff with overlords to include base drops and scouting.
You can actually inject all hatches without holding the X-key. Press 5, release 5, press X, release X, then hold shift, and use space to cycle through all hatches.

I think you dont need to hold or press your "X" key for inject more then once, when u are holding shift key. U just need to hit it once, then just hit your space bar for hatchery camera and then click mouse button.

I got another question and its about the queen transfuse... How do you get the queen to transfuse a specific unit when there's so many pf the same unit clumped around for example mutas or corropturs?

Hey Lowko, the only crappy thing about this method is if you don't have a queen at a specific base it will cause a queen from another base to walk over to that empty base. So if a base just finished building you have to build that queen straight away and add it to your hotkey or else you will have a queen walking from the other side of the map. I guess creep will help and you will have to make sure a queen is at the base you inject on which make injects slower. Do you know any other method to counter this problem?

+Dion Eden When you inject with and you know you have a hatchery without a queen, you have to slow it down a bit to make sure you don't inject the missing base. Like he said, this method is great for later on in the game so early on when you are getting hatcheries set up and you might not have the queens ready to go, use the slower method.
I guess make sure only the queens that you are using to inject are on that hotkey.

This is great! How do you stop the Queens from moving if they have run out of energy. I've read in places that you have to press H for hold or S for stop but these keys don't work in the GRID hotkeys setup.

Hey Lowko, I actually use the 2nd method and it's pretty awesome. But a couple days ago I had a problem when I wanted to inject my queen from the main ran to the 3rd the 3rd queen to the natural and the natural queen into the main. Every single time. I fucked up an easy win with this crap. No idea what happend there....

Well, $40 isn't much to someone with a job, but I currently don't have one and it sucks. Yes, yes, I know...I should be going to get one rather than wanting to play Starcraft.

Problem for me is more to get all queens constantly into one controlgroup, rather than execute the inject command on every hatchery.
You cant put Queens into control groups like lava, just after spawning.
Their spawn can be anywhere, if you put all hatcheries in one group.
Queens get killd, rebuilding one in mid to late game, search for it 30secs later, put it near the base of a hatchery without queen and putting it into a cg is fucking shitty. You rarely have seconds looking in your base when fighting, so i quess the more successful tactic for me, is build hatchery and expanding, than injecting with my quees as soon as the fighting starts.
Why do u need to hold shift? I've not tried that but it seems that if u do it without shift closest queen will inject closest hatchery. OK. I just got it in case u don't have enough queens some of them will go from hatchery to hatchery. Thanks for the video I didn't know about the possibility to cycle between hatcheries.

i can do queen injects decently in my opinion only start missing one or two after the 15 min mark mostly the problem i have i tech slowly and i forget to drone up alllot and i cant seem to get used to using manual banelings.

this method is amazing and ive been having no trouble in the early to mid game. so instant so i really love it.
but when i get to the later phase of the game, where queens die from harassment or when theres more bases than inject queens, the queens move all around the bases delays the larva spawns. is there a good way to avoid this?
