(In the old Earth-1 Comics in the Silver Age I believe Bruce was Flying Fox then Robin then Batman but someone can tell me if I'm wrong I won't complain I tried my best to be accurate.)

Honestly, I don’t see fancasting as a debate, I see it as a discussion. You might say it’s the same thing, but what I mean is I see fancasting as a more casual thing. I think the people who fancasted Superman and the people who are against it are mostly two different groups, and those that overlap are just disappointed because they were actually hoping for something unexpected.
Also, on the topic of Donald Glover in DC, I’ve always thought he be great as Azrael. Specifically the one in the Arkham games.
Whether someone is fan cast or not there’s always some sort of backlash when a actor is chosen for a major character that people love.
I also didn’t really see any backlash for Corenswet as Superman, it felt like everyone was excited.
Not for those who are unable to move on from Henry Cavill 😒
I just want a good story for a good live action DCU.
The only people upset were the ones that think Henry Cavill is the only person allowed to wear the suit.

I feel that fancasts are always type-casts too, and I feel like that's not great for an actors reputation. I would rather see some casting come out of left-field, rather than "he's a good villain so he would be a good villain."

I would love to see willam dafoe as joker in like a dark knight returns movie, where the Batman in that movie is the same age, but he’s way too old to be the joker against Jensen ackles. In my opinion, a great joker to be against Jensen ackles would be Troy baker. He’s already played the joker a lot as a voice, even opposite Jensen as Batman in the long Halloween movies
Hell troy baker has voiced literally everybody he was really good in telltales batman where he voiced batman himself
A lot of people make fancasts based on two separate aspects
1. Physical appearance
2. Previous roles
The former is just type casting, which isn’t a healthy way to cast an actor who is able to embody the personality of said character
And the latter is just trying to replicate a former performance which means you aren’t getting anything distinct from that actor. Like, do you *really* want Anthony Starr as the reverse flash, or do you want Anthony Starr to do Homelander again.
Yeah, that's why I'm on the fence about Willem Dafoe as the Joker. On one hand, I love him, and his performance as the Green Goblin is... *chef's kiss*, and obviously, the Joker is an incredibly iconic character that I think he could probably do very well-but I fear that it would just be "Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin but fighting Batman."
I don't think the previous roles arguments is always people subconsciously wanting actors to replicate a previous performance or character. Sometimes, actors will portray characters with subtle traits that kind of conflict with their archetypes, and people want to see actors expand upon this deviation in a larger role. I think Jesse Plemons would make a good Beast becuase of some of the nuances of his character in Hostiles. He usually portrays characters that are obviously intelligent, but a little understated due to their predicaments, or someone of higher authority. He's also often played characters that are aloof, and condescending. He's definitely no hero in Hostiles, but his character had a monologue where he showed a surprising amount of remorse and compassion that I hadn't seen in any of his roles before, and since then I've wanted him to play some sort of hero. I could make a similar argument for Harrison Ford in What Lies Beneath, in which he plays a character that is almost the amalgamation of his worst common character traits.

That image would be funny, except in Reverse Flash’s case, I read it in the voice of Richard Roxburgh’s Dracula from Van Helsing (2004). You know, the one film that features Hugh Jackman hunting down vampires who are literally just blue skinned naked gargoyles when transforming into flying creatures and become human when they land. Just the image of Reverse Flash using a Count Dracula voice to taunt Barry is enough to make me laugh 😂

Danny Devito as Mole Man from the Fantastic 4. Besides, Mole Man is a silly goofy character, so Danny could make this guy hilarious, but also scary. Just take a look at his penguin
Jerry Trainor as Condiment King. Yes, again, goofy. But I really think this hilarious villain and actor could give us a good laugh for once in a Batman movie. That and I need to hear condiment puns with Spencer's voice
Cameron Monaghan as Cletus Kassidy. Woody did amazing, but Cameron would make Cletus downright terrifying. That one interrogation scene in Gotham he has is nightmare fuel. Please let this kid do it
Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor. He delivers the perfect cold and calculated businessman type. He'd nail the role. He also voices him in the Harley Quinn show so we're almost there
What annoys me most about fancasting is that many people just fan cast because of looks and that is just not how casting is supposed to work.
My idea is to have bane be the main villain in brave and the bold and we NEED tom holland for that roll or he can play supergirl that's interchangeble

I 100% agree with you. David was my fancast, and I was so happy when he got cast, yet everyone else hated it (despite supporting it before).
I try to be as creative as possible with my fancasting, but I think certain actors play certain distinct roles so well that some typecasting is alright. That being said, I think that Alden Ehrenreich would make a great Joker. He's pretty ecclectic when it comes to the roles he's played, and he usually sinks so deep into his character that he often feels like the most authentic character in his movies. I would hope that they wouldn't try to replicate Ledger, or Phoenix's Joker too much by grounding him, but I'd like his character to come across as a murderous comedian/jester first, and have his political idealogies just be an in universe explanation/interpretation for his irrational violence.

My fan-castings of James Gunn’s DC Universe is David Corenswet as Superman Jensen Ackles as Batman Willem Defoe as Joker Timothee Chalamet as Nightwing and Ben Schwartz as Plastic Man.
One problem with fancasting is how much of a subjective discussion and everyone has an idea of what or who should play a specific character without truly going into what an actor could bring to the role or how they could play a character. Its why I get tired of people just casting actors who look the part without taking into account their filmography and performances and whether they'd be right for the role. I've fancasted comic characters before and though I'm no expert nor am I a casting director but I at least know that to play a role the actor needs to convey character before considering the looks of them, nor should that be a major influence

Honestly, for Batman, I prefer Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Alan Ritchson, or Jake Gyllenhaal. That is in no particular order.

Noah Centineo or Dacre Montgomery as Jason Todd/Red Hood (either one works for me, they’re both hot, they are tall and quirky, and Dacre has the acting chops to pull of an angsty layered humanizing character, which Noah admittedly needs work with but he’s on track with playing action heroes with a humorous side)
Louis Partridge as Tim Drake/Red Robin (TikToker DoomBlazer actually came up with this fancast first, but he inspired me well, plus the image of Gotham reacting to a British Robin with a sultry seductive voice is enough to send me flying 😂)
Millie Bobby Brown as Stephanie Brown/Spoiler (who else has chemistry with Louis to pull off playing his love interest than his fellow British costar Enola Holmes herself?)
Jessica Henwick or Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Cassandra Cain (any actress worth enjoying even in bad properties is worth it as an actress for our favorite disabled Asian dancing fighter queen)

You know, something I just realized that took me so long to notice is that Willem Dafoe looks a lot like a doppelgänger of Kevin Conroy (RIP our One True Batman). This is something that I feel in my bones, and I already thought about how a lot of actors we see in live action Batman media (I do count that atrocity that is Titans as Batman media whether you like it or not, not my fault they included and tarnished the Batfamily characters we know and love) look painfully similar to Kevin. I’m talking about Robert Pattinson, Jensen Ackles, Brenton Thwaites, even Curran Walters take after our One True Batman in some form. Then you have actors that aren’t even related to DC media as far as i know, but could still count as doppelgängers, like Jared Padalecki and Kevin Bacon (bro, the fact that he shares a first name is bonkers, what a terrible fate to be compared to the One True Batman despite having himself an extensive film career). Random, yes, but it needs to be said, and I have spoken.
Clearly we need Donald Glover as Sandra Bullock, I don't know how this hasn't been brought up before! I'm so glad it's finally become part of the popular opinion now, I've been advocating it for years. They're both successful actors AND entertainers. They both work in the industry... Surely Donald Glover would jump at the chance to play her. This sort of opportunity is unprecedented.

I know many people want Willem as Joker (myself included), but unfortunately I am so stuck on Mark Hamill’s voice that trying to picture any live action actor as Joker without thinking about that voice is nearly impossible, and I am of the belief that he shouldn’t be forced to play the character after he already retired from the role following Kevin Conroy’s death. As the Joker himself said it, “Without Batman, crime has no punchline”. It wouldn’t be fair to cast Mark as Joker since as we all know, without Kevin as Batmsn, it just wouldn’t be the same, and I always try to respect other’s wishes before I make a decision, so I look for fancasts that includes specific actors who state they specifically want to play the character I’m casting them as. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll ever find another actor for Joker that will match up with how I perceive him, which is cruel, but I’m like ‘screw the Joker, he is too overrated’. My Batfamily fancast will inevitably bump him off permanently just because he needs to be, so it probably wouldn’t matter who plays him as long as he fills the role of being killed during Under The Red Hood’s storyline and leaves my Batboys in peace (and pieces). I’m more interested in the Batfamily anyway, so no Joker fancast, make him a McGuffin as he deserves and just bump him off onscreen for the purposes of forcing the Bats on a healing journey, end of story, have a nice day..😂❤
