It's crazy to realize that non comic book readers don't know how big of a leader Scott is. One of the characters mcu has to do justice.. Another point you hit on the head was the importance of them feeling like family. Fantastic four gets the rep of being the first family but thee X-Men to me embody it more..
This is why I think it’s so important to leave Wolverine out of the first movie. Let Scott shine, and let his relationship with Jean be established before it falls apart.

The best thing you could do for the X-Men is have a movie where Cyclops is the lead character and there's no Wolverine. I think the MCU should separate Wolverine from the X-Men and only have him interact with them after they've had time to be developed on screen.
Yeah I love him, but we've had enough Wolverine for now, they can afford to wait a movie until the rest of the giant size get introduced.
I say just add x-23 and make her arc a "searching for dad" deal. She can ask questions, fight her dad's old enemies, meet dakken (maybe even Jimmy Hudson). All leading up to the end of some big event resulting in the meeting and death of wolverine.

I'm expecting her as a slightly older Kitty Pryde, especially if he's wanting an Xmen story that takes place when they're not all teenagers.
Would love her as Sue for FF, she’s getting a lot more popular… not sure she’ll want to sit in a makeup trailer for hours.

I agree with you on Hank/Beast. Give him one movie before you turn him blue. In fact, give him most of one movie. Have the stinger/end credits scene be him in the lab working on his experiment and then he exposes himself to it (or it blows up) and in silhouette show his shadow changing and maybe we hear a growl, roar or simply an "oh my stars and garters"
My main problem is picking older actors, Xavier passes because he’s a mentor but I genuinely believe the x-men should start as teens or young adults
The first class of X-Men should be all teenagers, played by actors no older than 25.
For me, I’ve seen an x-men origin story already on film. I want them to be older, because some of the most important and interesting things happen to these characters when they’re adults, not children. We’ll never get to those plots if they start as teens.

Can’t believe I never saw Tom Hopper coming for Cyclops. My mind was dead set on Taron Egerton for the entire build up, I feel like his Kingsman experience would easily translate to Scott Summers with confidence, leadership, and streamlining his R-rated spy attitude. He is younger than your plans allow, though.
Taron would be a great Logan. He's short already so adding CGI wouldn't make him look awkward (like the Hobbits)

@@VBRichB I saw the "leader" Scott in a few scenes they just didn't show enough of it, when he argued with storm about how to handle magneto was a great scene that's how they were in the comics as both were leaders
Beast is my all-time favorite X-man and while, yes, he’s super smart, the thing that separates his intelligence from Reed, Amadeus, Victor, etc is that he is cultured. He’s well-read. He just as likely to engage in musical theory as political theory. He is the ideal Renaissance man. What every human intellectual strives for and would be revered…if we didn’t look like a monster. *muah* chefs kiss. What a great character!
He was my all time favorite character (not just X-men) growing up.

Specifically having other black X-Men in your casting also goes a long way to fixing the Beast issue you mention

Love the Rose Leslie pick. Don't know much about the other actors, but Sam Richardson has a really friendly face, which I think works for Beast.
Beast as a big, smart, friendly guy who 'gets fierce' is a great way to portray the character both before and after the blue. Richardson is a great pick for that.
I also agree Rose Leslie is a great choice, perfect casting.
This video also highlighted that _anyone_ could be Iceman, he just has to have the right attitude.
Sam Richardson is the only actor besides Kelsey Grammar who can deliver the line, "Oh My Stars and Garters" and make me believe it.
Watch Werewolves Within or Veep because he IS Beast.

This cast could play well into the racial prejudice allegories from the comics as well. Solid casting in my opinion.
The X Men aren’t specifically based on any race. This was debunked a while back.

This fancasting is immaculate- you had me intrigued when you said Rose Leslie for Jean, but when you got to Rege for Angel, I was basically shouting “Take my money” at the computer screen. I would watch this *so much*.
I feel like the Beast situation is balanced out by the representation of other black actors on screen as themselves, at least some what.
It’s not “ok, we’ll have a black person on screen, but he won’t look it.” It’s just “Hey, this is the reality of the character as is”

I’m not sure why, but I have an unhealthy desire to see a Multiple Man Disney+ series. He’s not a marketable enough character, but hey maybe he can be a fan favourite in the movies before giving him a spin-off show. I just think a fun semi-lighted-hearted detective show would be really cool. Not sure who would play him, though. Maybe Andy Samberg🤷♀️
You have to think less about about what characters are popular in the comics, and more about which ones will work in live action.
Multiple Man has a cool visual and physical power with great potential for action and comedy. I a! Surprised Fox didn't utilize him more.
I'd watch it. The best part of the Matrix 2 was the Mr. Smith action scene.

I think Victoria Pedretti is the ideal Jean Grey. From what I’ve seen in her other work she’d be excellent at really bringing out the tragedy in the character. She’s also mastered the field of seemingly innocent characters hiding something dark and powerful that they can barely control.
She most probably will play Storm. She talked about it in one of the interviews i think, and mcu is notorious for casting on these basis and i am so down for it.
I just want her in the MCU.

Personally, I've always believed that Storm has earned the right to be part of a starting lineup for an X-Men team at this point. She definitely deserves it after how Fox treated her

This is a great list, but I really would've loved to seen the First Class as teenagers. I can see why people would love later versions so we can get definitive versions, but I want to see these charcaters grow into their own instead.
Same. I imagine that’s what Marvel is wanting to do as Holland’s Spider-Man was taking inspiration from the Harry Potter template to be a coming-of-age story. In addition, the FC team gets an opportunity to show how they contrast from being teenage superheroes to being adult superheroes in the MCU. MCU is already bringing in Young Avengers characters in the shows and movies. Wouldn’t put it past them to do the same with the OG 5. Especially since young Cyclops was on the Champions with Ms. Marvel, I figure they might do something like that in the future.

Unless your long term plans for the franchise doesn't include these characters. It would make sense to age out the FC as you add more X-Men to future instalments.
I feel like Jean is more of the therapist of the team. Level-headed and calming. Think Counciler Troy or Monica (Friends) or Donald Duck (DT17) or Pike Trickfoot. What makes so many fall for her in universe is her normalcy, her ability to genuinely care and help those around her. She's only really interesting when she's the Phoenix, because, as the 'nice one' she's the last person you'd expect to go murdery. And THAT is why the Phoenix works. It's such a stark (haha Sansa) contrast to who she is that it can't help but be intriguing.
But at this point we all already know Phoenix is coming so let's give your idea a try.
DT fans I am a HUGE Donald fan and find him very very deeply interesting all the time but generally, in regards to the general audiences reaction, I went with this. As a character he was pretty much side-lined unless they wanted to whump on him, thereby making him interesting but that could just be them not knowing how to write around his voice to give him the screen time they want him to have and know he deserves which is the story of his life. MOOD.
I’m so happy you mentioned Jane Levy. She’s such a fantastic actress and is definitely someone I could see in the role, she’s incredible in Zoey’s extraordinary playlist and I would love to see her in this role
I really hated how Scott was done previously. I hope they do him justice and actually make him the leader and him more of a complex character doing the right thing. He felt like he was just…there previously.
He didn't stand out but sometimes it felt like he was supposed to... I watched these movies as a non comic book fan

The racism/Beast issue is definitely real, but I would say if it works anywhere it’d be in something like the X-Men where racism and profiling and dehumanizing others it the theme anyway. Also, a thing to remember about Beast is that in addition to being super athletic and super smart, he’s also super well-read. So as long Richardson can effectively pull all 3 of those tighter, he gets my vote.

In case anyone's wondering why Iceman is classified as an Omega level mutant, Bobby just thought he made ice. It wasn't until Emma Frost took over his body did everyone realize he has complete control of water on a molecular level and can completely change ecosystems and dissolve people.
I honestly would love to see an MCU X-Men movie starting off with the first class members led by Professor X. The title of the movie should be called UnCanny X-Men. Here’s my cast for the First Class in the MCU X-Men.

I hope you can cast the MCU Giant Size X-Men.
Scott Eastwood's played more cocky, wiseguy, and pretty boy roles. He doesn't scream Cyclops. Maybe Jared Padalecki instead? Also, for Bobby, maybe Nick Robinson?
Maybe also have Wolverine and Storm join the X-men shortly after thus making them additional founding members of the X-men.
For Jean, I would love to see Samara Weaving. Her range is amazing! And so charismatic and relatable, even in unrelatable circumstances. Although, she might make an even better Emma…

The funny thing about this for me is that I grew up thinking that beast was black, he reminded me of all the tall, smart black men in my family so I just assumed he was black. Even when I eventually found out he wasn't in my head cannon it's never changed.
I know that he's already been in Black Panther but I wish that they would cast Winston Duke as Beast. He has the acting ability and the physicality to embody the conflicting duality of the character.
Beast is not Black. Just like Storm, stick to originality. I 😍😘😗😙😚 Storm. Equality and Equity and the fight against Racism doesn't mean replacing white people or in this case, caucasian comic book characters with minorities (I'm Black..just so you know)

If I was to cast the OG 5 students I'd probably cast actually teenagers and have them grow into the characters we know and love over time (similar to what they did with the Spiderman Home trilogy)
As up and down as the original X-Men franchise was, you can't deny they had some of the best casted super hero's of all time. Going to be hard to top no matter what.
I would name the first movie The Uncanny X-Men and have a mixture of the original team with the more known characters, BUT do not focus on Wolverine all the time (He is coming back lets accept it) actually develop the rest of the characters so you know they feel like a team

@@kingmonde No Storm should more involved in the BP part of the MCU so she has space to grow as a character. The same with Wolverine in the Cap part and Rogue with the Marvels. The Xmen movie should focus on Cyclops, Jean, Prof X and the school. The other big hitter just float in then go back to their part of the MCU.
I'd want an X-Men Trilogy with the original team of X-Men (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel, and Iceman), and then the members from Giant-Size X-Men (Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, etc) in a second trilogy, called something like X-Men International.

Original as Uncanny. Part 2 as Amazing XMen; and then Excalibur as a spinoff

love the drawings and the castings for this one. as a civil rights allegory, it makes sense for the X-Men first class to be multinational, diverse in terms of sexuality and probably multiration. gives them the chance to tell a lot of varied stories about being marginalised in society -- the crux of the X-Men
Also your drawings are great! I loved how you drew Professor X and integrated the question mark. The little things really do contribute to the video production overall and I couldn't stop looking at it and really appreciated it!
I love to see the progression of your art in these vids! As an artist myself I totally get how challenging the whiteboard drawings must be, but I love seeing how much you improve in each drawing! I’ve just recently been getting into comics, x men and the Four specifically, and your videos have been a huge help! I love all these casting choices too, it’s awesome to see how much thought you put into each one, and it’s really refreshing to see a fancast that takes the importance of diversity into account! I would love to see Cyclops be the reflection of both Charles and Magneto as I think that would be cool
I think when it comes to how the MCU should treat Wolverine, I'd say...he should be treated like how Jack Sparrow should've been treated: not exactly 100% on board with being on a team at all times and certainly not the main character of the franchise. I'd be interested in seeing him bounce back and forth between being in X-Men movies, teaming up with other heroes, having a movie or show to himself, but not the main focus of tent pole X-Men movies.

Nice fan cast. This takes me back to the era before we had so many superhero movies when I'd fan cast movies with friends, one thing I always felt was it'd be best to introduce the first team as teens so we have time to watch them grow into the heroes they're established as today in the comics. I would prefer to see the MCU version be a young version, but with Patrick Stewart showing up in Multiverse of Madness I can't even begin to guess what Disney plans to do with the characters.

@@kingmonde I'm hoping this mean we'll get variants who aren't played by actors from the Fox movies. I was sort of hoping for a clean slate with the X-Men in the MCU, but this revelation definitely has me intrigued to see how Marvel/Disney handle this. I'm thinking Strange 2 will have a plot thread similar to House of M, but really anything could happen. Maybe when Xavier says "We have to tell him the truth," or whatever that line is, that it'll be revealed that the MCU timeline has been manipulated in the past and that why mutants weren't around. Like maybe Kang did something that made the mutants vanish, but that's all just speculation. I seriously am more excited for this that I was for No Way Home simply because of the possibilities it's going to open up.
@@glitchgoblin1338 the mcu xmen will most definitely be a new cast of actors. They need people who could possibly play the roles 10-15 years im sure. Hugh Jackman and them are done, they've said it. I'm sure they'll be happy to do a cameo or two, but they are not in it for the long haul.
@@kingmonde Patrick Stewart said he was done after Logan but the big Disney millions brought him back. I'm positive Disney can do that with the entire cast. I'm confident in guessing that the X-Men franchise is at least 2 different timelines, maybe as many as 3 or 4, and I wouldn't be surprised if Disney decided to merge those with the MCU that way they can capitalize on using actors like Jackman, McKellen, and possibly even McAvoy and Fassbender. This would open the door for all the Marvel Legacy films to be considered just other timelines and universes. Kevin Feige worked on not just the original X-Men films, but most early Marvel movies, and this would be his opportunity to merge all of his life's works into one huge homogeneous project, a true Magnum opus.

As for the castings themselves, I love a lot of them though I personally feel like the First Class team should be a somewhat younger than their mid-30s-40s (maybe with the exception of Beast), if anything mid-late 20s-early 30s. Jane Levy would be an amazing Jean for sure, Victoria Pedretti I could also see being awesome in that specific role.
Those Iceman and Beast castings are absolutely spot-on.
For Cyclops, I think Dylan O’Brien, John Boyega, Ray Fisher, and maybe Charlie Rowe would be great for that late 20s-early 30s age range.
Macfayden’s an outside-the-box pick for Xavier, I love it!!
Overall, another excellent video as always! Can’t wait for the next ones in this X-Men-based series!

I really appreciate you picking actors that are a different race from the comics. Superhero fans can be really annoying with stuff like that, so it’s always nice to see level headed people on the internet. Loved the video!
Id rather have an original nonwhite character… not a hand me down white character.
@@kalync.8232 That's obviously better but I don't think it's a hand me down in this case, it's just picking the best actor for the role. It's not going out there and actively choosing to change a character from white to non white
@@pinkpink-kb6dl I have mixed feelings about it, a character's race, gender and appearance all is a part of who they are as a character, making those changes makes it so that they are only that character in name and basically makes them a new character without being original. It basically gives us a new character while taking away the opportunity to actually see certain characters in live-action.
@@kalync.8232 this is how I feel, but really as long as they pick actors that are right for the job or if the change makes the character more interesting it’s fine. Like don’t change Wolverine because he’s just iconic and fans have a strong opinion on what that character looks like in their minds. Where as someone like Iceman or beast it’s not really a big deal, even gambit could work well as black, I mean New Orleans is a fairly diverse city.
Seems like it only goes one way doesn't it? To one specific race? You don't see a lot of race-swapping with other minorities.

Hey nando!! I love these fancasting videos and more than once I’ve reassessed my own fancasting in favour of some of your picks.
However, this comment is specifically to mention your drawings. I love them. As an artist myself I love to see art, and drawing in particular, shown as a hobby for content creators who don’t specifically specialise in that sort of thing. If it’s taking too long to get up and running each time, might I suggest learning to work digitally and editing it in or projecting it onto a screen. Even if you just jump on an iPad and use an app like Sketchup, I really think it would speed up the process and you might find it brings even more enjoyment. Keep up the excellent work
Great video and I love some of your castings, but the race swapping is weird to me. I’m black and to me it’s pointless. I’m a fan of these characters as they are and I’d prefer light to be shed on existing ethnic characters instead of constantly changing the race of white ones. It bothers me that there are so many black characters by black creators who’ll never get adapted because race swapping is seen as acceptable.

I would love to see the MCU do to Cyclops what they did to Captain America. Who would have thought 15 years ago that Captain America would be one of the most beloved and recognized characters in the entire world?
Funny thing is, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist was for all intents and purposes a superhero show. Zoey developed the power to hear people’s inner truths and hidden feelings as musical numbers, and she put it upon herself to take what she learned from those songs and use the information to help those people. Jane Levy could really work as Jean due to her Zoey experience.

Great video. Love the art. Even though Xavier is a few steps away from his usual character types I think Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad and the Mandalorian fame would be a great pick for X. He already nails the cold and calculating side and I'm sure he can do the warmer side if pushed to it.

Mathew Macfadyen was actually one that came to mind when thinking of “people who could play Xavier” once I stopped thinking of bald people
Ive actually thought that the first x-men movie should softly makeover scotts character...he regularly gets introduced as "no one's favorite xmen character" and the mcu has a repuration of temaking and breathing new life into the popularity of characters. I think scott should be the rightuous leader who knows right from wrong, but is hessitant about taking command at first following and making suggestions until finally he cant take it any more and steps up as the leader they need and (and this is key) knows the whole team well enough to use them effectivly as a team. Scott being a leader is more important than scott being large and in charge.
For me Angel should have blond hair, i think it show how privileged he is, and make him eazy to find when we don t see his wings
