  • I can't say it enough, it takes 5 minutes to get the gas out of a machine at the end of the year and $50+ dollars to have someone fix if later...

    Thank you! I couldn’t find a single video with the exact same Mclane edger as mine. I finally can clean the carburetor and get it running

      Cool. I love McLanes, so there are a few here. Don't touch the settings on the carb. A good clean, and new diaphragm usually does the trick. Good luck!

      This one was really clean. It looks like you have to take the whole works apart until you realize the muffler comes off easy

      Thanks. We have been getting hammered daily for the last couple of weeks, but I remind myself that I will miss this rain in a month or so.

    That's a nice rig but I always had to take the carb off to rebuild one. Non-working hands to say the least. You did good but I thought you'd anti-sieze the muffler mount bolts but maybe you did already. I always ended up with galvanized fittings with a 90 and a hot dog muffler instead of trying to drill old bolts out. Happy weekend and stay cool-ish!

      I don't put anti seize on the McLanes only because I have never had on hang up on me, that might change one day 🙂

    One tip is please include the size wrench or sockets you use to make it easier for us.

      Side note, these are pretty much build with 4 wrenches, 9/16 through 3/8 👍

    I believe that the newer ones are equipped with a gas tank above the carburetor so it's equipped with a fuel shut off valve

      Now we just need to get people to shut them off. Lol

    You know, I think this video is great once you dive right into the carburetor however, yours is an outlier the majority of people that have McClain's. I don't have the option to remove that muffler. They actually in some cases have to remove the wheel on a McClain engine and then drop the entire tank along with the carburetor. But other than that your video is good. But yeah I mean we should have it as easy as you have it to remove, but unfortunately that is not the case😂

      @GuysPlayingWithTools  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @jwayne777 Thanks. There are 2 out 3 designs for the muffler, and with the right tools, you can usually get them off without taking the wheel(or motor) off. I worked on quite a few of them before I figured out all the tricks. The straight in oval twist on is not common, but it's one where you have no choice. Usually they have the bracket, and that makes it a bit easier.

    1:03 What size wrench is that for the muffler?

    • @GuysPlayingWithTools
      @GuysPlayingWithTools  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It;s been a while but I am 95% sure that was a 7/16. It seems that I use the 7/16 and the 3/8 for almost everything on a McLane(or any Briggs motor) and occasionally 1 1/2 and 9/16
