Making Leather Bracers with Scales || More dragon or fish?

- When you have POUNDS of leather scraps, you have to get a little creative with the projects you try. And when I found these little leather punches for about a dollar, I knew I had to do something really cool with them. After cutting out probably 8 MILLION little fish scales (or maybe dragon scales), I glued them onto a leather bracer and made something pretty dang cool! Perfect for your favorite cosplayer, or D&D Dungeon Master, these will give your costume the ultimate finishing touch.
If you're interested in trying to make your own bracers, head over to my Ko-Fi page to order a set for yourself, or a gift for a friend. ko-fi.com/s/aafd74eac7

I’ll be posting regularly about my different projects and you don’t need to do anything to see that feed.
And yes, you can donate, and for $2/month, you’ll get behind-the-scenes peeks at my upcoming projects, have a voice in what I should try next, and get your name on screen!
But most exciting, you can get your very own digital pattern of my Box Bag Pattern
AND I’m doing pre-sales for my DIY Box Bag Sewing Kit. The listing will close at the end of August, and orders will be shipped in September.
I’m so excited to share these with you as I’m so proud of this pattern.

Super cool and so practical! Just what we need to feel strong and fierce. Suitable for casual pirating and serious garden-grooming. Also the latest in driving accessories (vehicle or golf). Brace yourself for bracer-chic.
I reckon the bigger scales would work too. Great job and great project!
🤣🤣🤣 I agree! How I ever mowed the lawn without them is a mystery! I do think they could revolutionize where I store my things.
Adding a credit card slot and a key ring could eliminate my need to carry a bag. AND I'll be ready for random bear attacks to the forearms
@@KatieMakesStuff 👍 I could do with some shin ones for lawnmowing. Nice idea about going bagless too.
A brilliant use of scraps! Thanks for sharing, your channel is such a damn delight.
That really made my day! Thank you for that!
I covered a pair of boots in rainbow leather scales which I cut from scraps I bought on eBay ~ love a scaly bracer xx
WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!!!
Love the variation in color! Great project. Thank you for sharing.

Cosplayer here 🙋♀️
Watching your video whilst stitching a lining to a dodgey last-minute cloak for a Medieval Fair (in South Australia) tomorrow. Welcome to the world of costuming & cosplay 😊
PS: my husband also does leatherwork and your pile of scraps look just like his lol
I'm excited to get into it but I have ideas what I'm doing. Any suggestions on the best staple pieces to have would be wonderful!
@KatieMakesStuff I'd say it depends on what you're wanting to attend most. If it's medieval fairs (ren fairs for you I think) then work out a loose basis for a character - fantasy or otherwise - a warrior, a maker, a generic peasant etc and make the one main piece they might wear. I attend multiple thing but my staples are generic peasants for medieval fairs and a steampunk "wrench wench" and I've slowly built up their outfits as the years go by. It's your character so had fun with them and don't forget to add aspects of YOU 😀
