@Ethan Vandermerwe Thanks! I think I accidentally put this video in one of the playlists but planned on releasing this Friday but I appreciate your feedback and please let me know how it compares to any of my previous disassembly videos as I completely changed how I did the editing and sound. Thanks in advance!
Nice video. I have the UAP-AC-LR an awesome 867Mbps device. I had to downgrade the firmware to ver 5.43.38, just because on newer firmwares it starts to go really slow and full of bugs with a lot of drops and not good "long range" but in that 5 ver firmware works incredible well. I think maybe programmed obsolescence for pple buy the 6 LR version. Anyway thank you for sharing the teardown.
Thank you so much for the great tear-down video! Could you tell me what the “SA” antenna does? I’d also like to see the tear-down on U6 Enterprise as well. I’m looking forward to that.
@Hiroshi Otani I have no idea, I looked online and even other teardown sites either don't list it or just list as "SA" so if you do find out please let me know. I even tried looking at Ubiquiti's patents and couldn't find that AP and they have TONS of patents filed. I wonder if it's for scanning channels or something but have not been able to confirm. Do you have this AP as well?
@TheRollingResistance I believe I posted pictures on Instagram a while back for this one. However, for the u6 enterprise I have not cracked it open because the videos have not made enough money to replace it if I break it in the process and it is my daily driver. I've only made under $75 so far on the 2 videos combined but as time goes by and likes and shares help hopefully it can make enough to purchase another one or close to it and I'll go ahead and do a disassembly video. These things are a real pain to open by the way. It takes a heat gun, a handful of spludgers sometimes the kitchen butter knife and so on. One day when the channel is big enough and I get free demo units. As long as they don't prevent me from disassembling it, I will totally do that!
Seems Enterprise was performing low than LR and what happened to Part-2 . Did UI sent replacement on the RMA . How was your RMA experience. I did raised one wondering how long will they take to replace and would they replace new or refurbished one
@ulaganath See the preview/trailer and turn on the notification for part 2 coming out this week! Be sure to slap like as well! th-cam.com/video/4pONNQBl87g/w-d-xo.html
@jesseszypulski8545 I'd love to but it doesn't come apart easily so I'd need one donated as it would most likely be destroyed in the process. I'm open to any ideas or suggestions on how to help fund this.
@4k Puede conectarse desde otro compatible Ubiquiti AP y luego proporcionar Internet a través de Ethernet con solo un inyector PoE. It can mesh from another compatible Ubiquiti AP and then provide internet over ethernet with just a PoE injector.
Well done, great editing! Funny though how they put holographic stickers on the outside shipping box to prove that it is an original device ... like noone can ever fake those ...
An idea why they priced the LR ($180) more than the pro($150)? Prior versions, the pro was much more $$. Also did you check where the phone was in relation to the APs? The antennas are directional. And tweaking the power output in the configuration can make a big difference. (Higher power isn't always better)
@David Rafkin The 6 LR has 4X4 for BOTH 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and the 6 Pro has 4X4 for 5Ghz and 2X2 for 2.4Ghz. Also the long range one can push more power and the antennas supposed to be more sensitive as well allowing further range. Should I do a test on this in a upcoming video? My phone was within the fresnel zone but I plan on doing more in depth comparison tests between the various models. Turns out even the latest MacBook Pro's Wi-Fi card isn't as fast as most phones and I may go into that in a upcoming video as well. You are completely correct on the power settings. Now I wasn't blasting it but no I did not tune it as I was intending for all of my disassembly videos of the access points to be more general but willing to go deeper if my viewers would like me to do so. Please let me know if you have any requests or suggestions but please know it takes a considerable amount of time for the editing so in most cases it could easily take several weeks to shoot and create any custom requests as a final video but anything more deep that people would enjoy and want to see I'm totally for it.
Maybe a quick real world test. Mount it on the ceiling and test in different rooms. Try different servers on ookla. Play around with the power. And of course, see what other APs are on your channel.
I'm debating replacing one of my AC-LR (I have 2, one for each floor) with a 6 LR or 6 Pro. I think I only have one device that is 6 capable, but it's my tablet so it gets my priority. How well do the new 6 models do on the prior tech (802.11ac??) ?
@Jason's Lab I have my SHD mounted right in the middle of the house on the second floor. Having an additional one downstairs just causes confusion with dumber IoT devices and crowds the air since when I did try it they were almost directly on top of each other just on different floors.
@WNPaiva De nada, you're welcome. Whereabouts are you from? I came back from Rocky point a few weeks ago. So much cooler than Phoenix. We left there and it was 84°F then we drove home 4 hours later and it was like 112°F🥵
Really good video

Great in depth video. I enjoy sometimes viewing the hardware as opposed to just the stats and specs. Great POV.
@Coronado Thanks for your support, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!👍 I try to incorporate what others ask and what I'm curious about as well.
Can I Use this access point on OpenWrt router, is it compatible?
@SH37i you would need to run a separate UniFi controller to configure it.

Hey. Can you tell marking on d8 diode? Is located in front side left from ethernet. My is burned. Thx
I might have some photos posted on Instagram but I'm pretty sure I sold this AP already.

@Ulaganath krishnasamy I did get an RMA and I have a second video coming out soon on this that goes over everything that happened.

Would love to see a tear down of the U6-Mesh

Hola . Este ap tiene modo bridget? Modo puente?

@jay kastner I wonder if I can buy those off of Alibaba? 🤦♂️🤣

@rif I can do that, which AP's do you want compared? Currently the SHD is installed upstairs on the ceiling.

@rif that's a good question, what all would you want tested and what methods of older Wi-Fi 5 and 4 stuff on the Wi-Fi 6 AP(s)?
Good video, this also confirms mounting them on the wall is the worst idea ever, as stated they should be celling mounted so they beam 180Deg down :)
@Jason's Lab I have my SHD mounted right in the middle of the house on the second floor. Having an additional one downstairs just causes confusion with dumber IoT devices and crowds the air since when I did try it they were almost directly on top of each other just on different floors.
Great vid. Managed to buy one of these for half the price, but as expected, it doesn't power up. Will crack it open and check what went wrong with it.
@alexander1989x Any luck yet?
Graças, obrigado, thank you
