This cleared up a lot for me. I was always wondering why my clients would stress their addresses as North Jersey or South Jersey when I'd ask, "So you're in New Jersey?" I had no idea this was even a thing.
EYYY OHHHHH! I'm from central NJ, and can I just say, it is a real nice place. EDIT: Central NJ is the area with both North and South attributes, and we either desperately love, or hate Pennsylvania (I couldn't care less for it).
"Also known as Delaware" you know Delaware is sad a sad place when we are the ones *honored* to be confused with Philidelphia. "What are you, an Eagles fan?!" God I miss and love you Jon Stewart.
I completely agree with John Stewart. I was born and raised in Jersey City and have lived all over the state. I presently live in Central Jersey. It is more closely linked to North Jersey. East and West also makes a distinctive difference. South Jersey is very different. (It's a little bit country") You see quite a few mullets.
The true sign of being from central New Jersey is the accent. They drop the t's out of the middle of words. The capitol is Tre-en, ki-ens lost their mi-ens, the Romans spoke La-in.
Mister Spray having been born and raised in Salem county, I can say that's a southern NJ thing, too. The first time I heard someone pronouncing Ts in the middle of words (as above), I remember thinking they were putting on airs. 😆
Mr.Colbert may be from Canada originally, but he has a NJ heart! Terrific clip! I like the "DMZ" idea mentioned by someone below my comment. Yes, Virginia (and PA, and Delaware, and anybody else...) there IS a Central Jersey! I'm from Tren-in (I've never said the middle /t/) and you can't get much more "middler" than that! I say pork roll and hoagie, but only started using the famous "f" word after working on the Turnpike back in the early eighties. Our little state is the best, no matter how many parts people say it has (or hasn't)! Where's Joe Piscepo these days? There's a man who loves New Jersey!
“Central Jersey” is more of a state-of-mine...or... that part of the state where billionaires live on horse farms and “going to the beach” means getting on your private jet and flying to Mustique,
Central is the DMZ (de-militarized zone) between North and South.

central jersey is where you're too far to see both paterson and camden
Love this so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Central Jersey for Life 🍻🍅🌽🍕🍝
EYYY OHHHHH! I'm from central NJ, and can I just say, it is a real nice place.
EDIT: Central NJ is the area with both North and South attributes, and we either desperately love, or hate Pennsylvania (I couldn't care less for it).
I'm not a fan myself Jon B.
anythibg below 127 is south jersey
@@thebobsagetguy Don't rope 114 into South Jersey...
i like philly it’s nioce not all the rage but nioce
When I grew up in Monmouth county...
"Also known as Delaware" you know Delaware is sad a sad place when we are the ones *honored* to be confused with Philidelphia.
"What are you, an Eagles fan?!" God I miss and love you Jon Stewart.
I grew up 30 miles north of Trenton. I always locate Hunterdon County as northwestern New Jersey.
I like it when politicians can make jokes out of their own speech blunder and be a good sport
I am from NJ, and I am just hearing about this now
South Jersey raised
Malek Karim thoughts and prayers
Kyle Cerasa you wanna fight
Centrists have never be so inoffensive than in New Jersey
Rose Lal wudder and cooahfee?
PA suburbs of Philly here, I do that. Not sure that’s exclusive to any part of Jersey
lol...we do! And this whole thread is hilarious!
I thought it was the dropping of an L sound after a long O or short E. So you hear "Coeslaw" as a side dish, or "Odesmobile" as a car.
Lol what? Colbert is from South Carolina...
“Central Jersey” is more of a state-of-mine...or... that part of the state where billionaires live on horse farms and “going to the beach” means getting on your private jet and flying to Mustique,
I live in South Jersey We say anything above Rt.40 is North jersey
