MKDS was the best, because it packed a huge emotional punch which said "Hey, you did it. Here's your rest, until next time."
Honestly, I actually cried the first time I heard MKDS's credit theme because it was that powerful. No messing about with long montages, no fast-paced songs that made you get up and dance without acknowledging your achievements. Just a simple scene and a simple melody to make you relax and think about how much you'd achieved, and it was a great finale to what I think was one of the best Mario Kart games ever.

I agree. Along with MK64 and Super Circuit, the DS credits is one of the greatest.
Exactly what a good ending theme should be like. Mario Kart 64, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 were similar in the way that they make you feel like you've accomplished something very big. I hate how they make the ending themes some boring remix or medley in many newer games. They're supposed to be something special, that really makes you proud for beating the game.

Eventhough I grew up with the Wii version, my favorite credits theme is the N64 version.

The n64 version has always been my favourite. I truely wish nintendo would bring back that end theme to mario kart again. Or at least a theme like it. Its always been the best one to me because of how different it is to all the other end themes of mario kart. Not to say the others are bad. It's just that I don't get the same kinda feeling from the other ones.

Mario kart 64 is incredible. In my top 2 ending video game music with Metroid NES!!! Extremely intense with great chords progression!!!! A great work of art!! I would like to shake the hand of the composer for that timeless master piece!!!
Everytime I hear Mario Kart 64's ending, I always get a nostalgia rush and a tear to my eye. I remember being a young kid and passing DK right before the finish line on Rainbow Road to beat the game, then hearing this.
Man, I just want to get an N64 and replay this.
And so, that's how I fell in love with emulators.
ROBLOX Jack Last time I downloaded an emulator, it downloaded crap. And I even selected decline.
They're too shady at times, so I just go with the real thing, and gives me a sense of nostalgia.

This theme goes hard, and it acts as a farewell to not only Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but for Mario Kart Tour aswell. It has been an amazing 9 years of Mario Kart 8, and it went out with the best credits theme in the series!

I’m absolutely nostalgia-blinded for MKW and its credits theme, but I’ll have to agree. 64 and DS have the most emotional endings in the entire series.
The best thing about this video is that everyone's debating whether 64 or DS is better. I of course have to say DS. Whooping my friend's butts with the Egg 1 was one of my fondest memories of playing and always will be one of my favorite Mario Kart games.

HORADEJAMESBAXTER My opinion. I didn't even grow up with MK64, I've just always preferred it's songs. DS was my second Mario Kart, and it was the one I dislike most. I used to love it, but I got bored of It. When I first heard the Staff Roll theme, I loved it. Now, I don't care for it as much. It's still better than MK7, MK8, and MKWii's Staff Roll theme.

The change of music from SMK to MK64 is so huge, even the current ones can only get so close to it.
Nobody will ever realize how much music was important in the 90s games compared to now.
I will see to it that all these themes get the likes they deserve. Just heard DD and... my god. Beautiful theme. I didn't own a Gamecube as a kid so I know I missed out as a kid.
Douglas Gordon Ik I missed out too, but years later I got a Wii .(My first console other than DS) I was so happy and its now my favorite console. Also Mario Kart Wii was the first game I got on it other than the Wii sports bundle which I don't count.

To me, Mario Kart 64's credit roll is by far the best out of the series. I love how it displays all 16 of the tracks through the credits and ends with staring at Princess Peach's castle, along with Mario's iconic voice "Ey! You very good! See you next time!". The music always makes my eyes start flooding.

7 : that was a sick jazz. And it has 2 versions, one when you complete a final cup, and the other one when you complete the game.
Wii, the most sportive one, with 2 credits, one very nostalgic and chill, and the second one, perfect to end a sportive meeting (a motocross event, for example).
64 : what can I say about this jewel, aside from that it makes me cry...
The only thing disappointing about MK64 is that they replaced the adorable Koopa Troopa with that nasty-looking Wario. =(

Ik I do so more from Mario kart Wii because I spent time on it with family and still play it 7 years later I do. Also I got it as a present for my 8 birthday I think and that's also when I got the Wii. So both system and game are a HUGE treasure to me. (First home console too :D)

As someone who never owned MKDS, I will sadly never truly understand the feelings that came from its credits theme...
Ah well, at least I have the SNES, 64, Wii, and 7 themes to absolutely cherish, Wii especially.
We've really left the days of good, memorable credits. In the N64 days and before, you could really do a lot with a credits sequence because you had maybe 30 people to credit, compared to the scrolling laundry lists of credits we have these days. Even just the "Hey you're really good! See you next time" and Super Mario 64's "Thank-a you so much for-to playing my game!" sort of encouragement and thanks would be great to see again.

For me it's Double Dash because that was my first Mario Kart game so that one brings tears to my eyes but Wii's ending in right up there both of those are my top #1 for MK endings :)

I think the DS credits are the best, because it feels like the racers are driving home because they have finished all of the races, and I have a strong feeling that is what they are doing.

+awesomemercerdude It is intentional, a leitmotif. The Mario Kart DS credits music after beating mirror mode (which is different from the 150cc version shown) also contains said leitmotif.

I don't think I can watch Mario Kart Wii's credits ever again without tearing up. And I usually don't tear up even in sad scenes. But the music. It's too beautiful for the credits.
