  • I have been trying out some $200 conical coffee grinders, today I wanted to try the Fellow Opus with Espresso. So far I have not been overly impressed with the flavors that the Opus was producing for pour over methods. Hopefully its a bit better for espresso.

They tell you one to two for espresso but for espresso i actually use a 3 to 3½ on the Opus comes out perfect no sour at all and sweet on the end. I have a Legato machine. I want a df64 e or v tho and just use the opus gor my pour overs. I font know if thats the right. Hoice to make tho....

    Nice video
I remember once upon a time, the only budget espresso grinder you could buy, was ascaso i2

So for espresso and pourover, which one's better as an all around grinder? SK40, Opus, or Encore ESP?

MAN! Its all in the video! I kid, kinda. Opus hard pass. SK40 fave, ESP and SD40 are similar in terms of adjustability and shot quality. All 3 do pour over great.

@@portakeeper Just wanted to confirm that I'm making the right choice of spending a little bit more for the SK40. The Opus is tempting here since it's the most affordable among the three. Was contemplating getting the SD40 but then I saw your SK40 vid and its stepless adjustment seems more appealing.

@@aimorallo638us and it makes very good espressos. I fo love the pour overs as well. I'm leaning to using it exclusively for my pour overs and buying a df64 e for my espressos tho. You won't be disappointed in the opus.

    Didn't touch the micro adjustments?

I did, but who’s going to take the hopper off every time to do a micro adjust. More or less you have the big notches on the adjustment and can fine tune with micro. Just a pain I think.
