- I started losing my hair to chemotherapy about two-three weeks after starting my first dose of chemo. This video shares a little bit of my hair loss journey and the feelings that surrounded losing my hair. The anticipation and build up was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be, but ultimately shaving my hair helped me take some of the power and control back over my cancer journey.
Chemo causes hair loss and it's just a part of the story but it isn't the whole story. Bald can be beautiful and there is hope there as well.

Trhat is brutal. You've been through so many changes with the baby and health and this is just a lot to take in. You were so wise to bing your friends into the process. It looks far better freshly shorn than having to watch the hair come off bit by bit. It looks great! And the best thing is that lovely baby...so sweet.
When.she started to cry I cried with her. I can't imagine how she feels.
From the bottom of my heart, i want you to know we are all rooting for.you. i agree on the all at 1 time rather than feeling like u just keep loosing it over everyday. I think for any 1, Espesially a woman whose had long hair forever. It will feel like too much to take on. But this is only 1 small part of your fight. Keep shining! When everyone helped get it done and tackle it, my heart just felt so warm.
Also you are a beautiful woman and you will rock this new look for a little while. And u and baby girl can rock all the same wraps and bows together ❤
😊 Hi there, When I got to the point that my hair was coming out in she shower i asked a friend to shave it within 1/8". The rest did not fall out only got thinner. We go through so much in the end what is hair? 1'm 2 months post chemo and the hair has grown back an inch. I do wear a wig it does make me feel better when i see myself i'm not always reminded of my cancer 😊. Much love, Yvonne

Sweetie im so sorry that you had to shave your hair. Cancer treatment may have made you lose your hair, but you took control and took your hair all off on your own terms. Big hugs Sweetie you are amazing. Im so proud of you. ❤

So sorry. I went ahead and saved mine first signs of falling out. Felt it would be less torture. Mine came back pretty fast. Half is curly, the other half is straight. So I get it permed, 2 different size rods. You will be thankful shaving it off.

You look great without hair! I had my head shaved when I had brain surgery. Mostly I just wanted to be done with it. Turns out that just like you being bald looked good on me. I was with my 39 year old daughter who had breast cancer, when she decided to shave her head. She decided she was tired of pulling her hair out. It’s so hard to do. Her husband shaved her head too. God bless you, your husband and your beautiful little one.
It’s so hard, but like you said, just wanted it done. And it has been nice not having to worry about my hair through all of this. That was so sweet for her husband to shave his head with her. I hope both you and your daughter are doing well now and that she is cancer free.

I remember when mine started falling out. I was standing in line outside a DMV office to renew my license before my hair was totally gone. The wind was blowing a little and I could see hair just flying off my head in the breeze. I just prayed it didn’t all come out before I got inside. It was devastating at first but then felt so freeing not to have to deal with it once I shaved it off. You will be okay, you will. This is just a short phase of your journey. Try to focus on beating the beast and your little princess. Hugs❤

I intentionally shave my hair and no chemo involved. The best thing I did. Got extra time in life. No time to comb,die,or style. I hope you soon will come to enjoy the freedom of above mentioned. 5:52

Melanie, just keep reminding yourself that this is all temporary. I know how devastating it is to loose your hair but it's a small price to pay for the wonderful things that are ahead for you and your baby. Stay strong!
Ohmygosh. Thank you for sharing your journey. You are helping sooooo many people. I started ugly crying when "babe" shaved you and then he was kissing you. Such a beautiful moment. You are you. I know in my cancer journey (tongue cancer) I have had to remind myself that often, with my not having the speech clarity I once had. I might not be able to pronounce certain words but I am still me, the (hopefully) wonderful person I've been all my 64 years.

Melanie, you are so beautiful! The baby is so beautiful. You have more strength than you know. You're so fortunate to have such support from family and friends. I loved the scarf you wore in this video. Not alot of women can wear them and look like you. Maybe if you go with a wig, go with a short so when you put it on before the scarf, you'll see alittle hair in the front and alittle in the back. Really, youre beatiful, the skys the limit❤

Hi Melanie. I completely understand all of the thoughts, concerns for the husband like you are. I had a brain tumor and decided to have my hair shaved after my surgery. It is a huge decision and is very psychological and emotional. Our hair is part of who we are, taking pride in our appearance.
I wanted to share my story because I found that it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I accepted it as part of my recovery and actually ended up loving my shorter hairstyles as it grew back. Try to allow yourself to accept this as part of your healing and recovery. I know it's hard, but you're definitely not alone. Sending up prayers for you that your able to find your peace in all.of this. Don't let this define you, but instead remind you that you took control.

Thank you for sharing all this with me! I am so sorry to hear about your own journey, but hope you are now healing and back to living your life on your terms. I think I may keep my hair short after all this as well. The upkeep is defintiely a wholllleeee lot easier.

Melanie, this had to be difficult but you did it on your terms! You go girl. Once chemo is over it will grow back. Will it be the same color, straight, curly . A short time will tell. Melanie you look fabulous with a bald head!! You keep rockin it and doing you ✌️. Should you ever feel like being in a playful mood I'd love to see you try the pink wig. I had bought myself a long pink wig when I was 18 just for fun and I loved it!! Sometimes it's nice to just be silly and have a little fun when you're going through rough patches. Losing my hair and shaving my head during chemo was so emotional…. Up to that point, I looked healthy. After, everyone knew I was a cancer patient. It will grow back. Mine came back thicker and curly. Hugs to you.
By the way, I had bought 2 beautiful wigs, but ended up ditching the wigs in favor of beanie caps because the wigs were hot and itchy. I wish I’d thought of getting a fun colored wig ☺️
I don't wear the fun colored wig after all. Though I did on Halloween lol. But like you said too hot and itchy. I've just been either embracing the bald or I wear a hat or head band wrap. Thank you for the encouragement on it growing back! I am so sorry you had to fight as well, but hope you are doing well now!

U are such a beautiful strong woman hair or no hair ur very beautiful without hair in my opinion ur eye is looking so much better. Thank you Melanie for sharing your journey with all of us. I remember when my husband lost his hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows. It has all grown back now. Unfortunately it is all part of the journey. Keep the faith. And yes, I think the headwrap will look nice on you till your hair grows back. And perhaps you can have a fun distraction trying on different style wigs for fun.

Melanie, I know how tough it is to lose all your hair to chemo. But after mine fell out I wore a baseball cap. Like you, I hated wigs. They felt heavy, uncomfortable, itchy & I felt so strange with one on. I completed Chemo and I have a short pixie & love it. It's so easy & I plan to keep it short. You keep fighting & you look wonderful 💛 🫶✌️
I have actually wondered if I will end up keeping my hair short too once it starts to grow back. Bald hair upkeep is wayyyy easier than hair upkeep lol, so I guess there is one perk. Thank you for sharing your own journey with me. It helps me not feel so alone.

I feel very alone at times & frightened. I'm sure you know that feeling very well too. I am still fighting this horrible disease. My CT scan is tomorrow so I am praying for good results 🙏. Anyway, back to our hair! You may like it short. I was surprised that I love mine short. I can shampoo my hair & blow dry in less than 20 to 25 minutes. I love the freedom it brings to me. Your sweet daughter is so beautiful. Sending good vibes 😊💪

I remember it was about 2 weeks after my 1st treatement my hair started to fall OUT. I think that was more emotinally difficult for me then just cutting it all off. I had really long hair and despite the fact I did not lose it all I kinda wish I would have just shaved it off. That way I could have seen the progress of my hair growing back. Your a strong woman so just stick in there it will seem to get worse before it gets better but it will get better!! 💖 stay strong, sending prayers and love your way . You look beautiful
I have wondered if some of it might have stayed but it was looking so stringy I was having a really hard time looking at it, so shaving it just helped me take some of the ownership of it. But I do wonder if I had waited what might still be there. I am glad you didn't lose it all. Thank you for the support ! So sorry you had to fight as well!

Stay strong, my family and friends love their "chemo hair ". When you are thru your treatments, your hair will begin growing back and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I am so sorry you are going through all this and especially with a new born. You are so strong. When I started to lose my hair from chemo, my son shaved my head. It was hard and all unreal. I had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in September 2021. So, of course the chemo was hard for me and honesty I was relieved I didn't have to wash my hair or shave my legs. I didn't have the energy.
I missed my hair, but I just concentrated on resting and getting through this. Your hair will grow in faster than you think. Soft chemo caps are comfortable on your head. I hope that helps a little anyway. Best of luck. You got this! ❤️❤️
There are perks where you can find them, I do love not having to shave either and the upkeep is so easy (since there is none lol). After this is all over I may end up keeping it short, at least for a while. It's just so much easier and saves so much time. Thank you for sharing your story with me! When my hair came back in I did like it shorter. The funny thing is it got curly. I never had curly hair. 😊
So far I good. I don't get my cat scan until March. It's called the anniversary of the last chemo. My last cat scan was in May. 10 months is too long. I am scared. Thank you for being an inspiration. It helps so much. We are all human and have good days and bad days. And that is ok. Love and hugs❤️

Melanie my darling not that my way of thinking is the same as everyone else's but when my hair finally fell out and I came to terms with it I look at it as one day closer to getting better not that I was sick and I think that is what helped me . I sympathize with you because I understand how you are feeling.
