Everytime you unlock a new ship building phase you get to watch SLM building the model version sped up like this. PLEASE WEEG!
My dad and I used to do these models all the time. We started a new one for Fathers Day. We mostly do airplanes, but now that I'm into ships our next might be a ship. Lets see, we made a Hellcat, F-22, Apache(helicopter but close enough), wright flyer, and I think that's it so far. They are really fun, and we have this whole system for painting the parts.
You work so much faster when there's music playing. Its amazing!

I believe three of my distant relatives served on the Prince of Wales and Repulse at the time of their sinking. I believe all of them survived.
Gonna start on my Trumpeter 1/200 USS Arizona soon. Just waiting for the drive parts to show up. (Going to be an rc model)

good choice in tamiya, they are much better fit kits over airfix etc, i bought a KGV when i first got into the WOWS. i found an airbrush was a good investment for large models to give the paint a much more flat uniform finish and also save time. i would also advise on your next build invest in a wooden deck from ebay, gives such a nice real look. Good to see a fellow builder
I lived in Japan for 5 years back in the 80s. My father was USN stationed @ Yokosuka Naval Base. I loved building the Tamiya models as a kid. All the ships were the same scale so you could have a fleet of them with the correct size in relation to each other & they had flat bottoms for easy displaying. The stores off base were selling every class ship that served in WW2. Of course all the instructions were Japanese only but the pictures were enough.
SLB you REALLY need to get into using spray paint techniques. Speed and finish will really make the difference!
I’ve been using a needle with the end of the eye cut off dipped in the same glue to put just enough here and there. I transferred the glue into an empty glass jar that had some old paint in it. I had the same issue fitting the deck pieces but once they’re in there’s definitely no gap.

@@eamongleeson6700 Yep! The kit includes models of both the "Betty" and "Nell" bombers that sank her. A little jingoistic, don't you think? Or at least the original 80's release of the kit that I built with my Dad did. I'd be interested to know if Mountbatten's kit includes them, he didn't mention them in the vid.

You should check out the uss Missouri model from trumpeter. It's a little pricey but looks fantastic. I'm glad you are showing more content other than games and I'm really into models myself and you should do more of these
I used to love making these models (Airfix) when i was a kid/teen / youngish adult. The last one i made was HMS Hood.

Where I live in Hood country I can find Tamiya paint but I rarely find Tamiya kits so over here we mostly build AirFix and Revell. I’ve got a HMS Hood from Revell that colour instructions and she cost me £15 while I have a Bismarck that cost £30 that is in black and white and that is because the Hood is a very new kit and the Bismarck is quite old. I’ve got a 1:600 Spee and Belfast that are very old AirFix kits. I’ve got a Ark Royal, Graff Zeppelin, Missouri, Scharnhorst, Bismarck and Hood in around 1:700 by Revell. I’ve got a HMS Victory in 1:225, a Flower class in 1:144, a London tug boat in 1:08, a VII C/41 U-boat in 1:350, a Type XXI U-boat in 1:144 that also is a cross section model showing the interior, a HMS Revenge 1:144 (not the battleship but the sailing ship) by Revell. I’ve got ships in 1:1200 the King George, Yamato, Musashi, Hornet and Tirpitz. But I also have the Tamiya waterline series Rodney and King George that are from the 70s from what I could find and they cost me £10 and are my first Tamiya kits they have a metal bar that goes on the inside of the kit to give it a satisfying weight. I also have a Bandai 1:1000 Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 model (from the anime space battleship Yamato) and a Bandai 1:2000 Iowa and Missouri. On top of countless planes by AirFix in 1:72 and planes and tanks from Revell in 1:72 but I also have a 1:24 Hawker Hurricane by AirFix. And I have lots of Gundam models by Bandai.

The model I’m fixing to get and start is the agora model Bismarck in 1:200 scale. Has working spotlights and guns that rotate via a control box

Downloaded a Tirpitz model recently. Currently changing the UV maps and textures, as well as setting up a scene. Maybe I'll upload some great Tirpitz Wallpapers in a few weeks.

I looked over the Yamato 1:350 kit when it came out in the 80s. Couldn't believe the cooling fins on the 25mm guns.

You should really consider using an air brush and primer for painting it looks so much better.
Love your videos; for your next model, use FrogTape instead . You'll find it gives you much cleaner lines.

I could actually never figure out why the royal navy did not plans to have a slightly larger version on the KGV with 3 Quad 14" guns like the USS Florida. Would be so viable as a battlecruiser at tier 9 due to RN HE shell penetration mechanics.
Costs ? And weight issues too...
@@TheStefanskoglund1 I thought there was an escalation clause in the Washington naval treaty that allowed an increase in displacement. Also it would make more sense in scale of economics that having 3 of the same turrets would simplify logistic and repair.
@@shunyuanliang4397 The brittish design which followed the Washington treaty weight limits were the Nelson class. Due to the economy in the 20s the UK couldnt afford building a number of a bigger design. Also they were loath to initiate a new weapons race at sea. If so they had that G3 class battle cruiser design.
Consider getting Tamiya panel line accent color - black and brown. Also did i see (or didnt see) you trying to test fit the deck to the hull before painting?

Did with the bow, and mid section, everything was snug so I assumed the stern would be fine, but I guess not lol
Fellow model ship builder! You got other places to follow your builds by chance??? Also you happen to have an airbrush to paint with? If so I have an awesome brand of paints to check into.
Is this just a casual hobby? So many things not being done that would see far better results. Primer is important, masking (get better tape), glue first then prime/paint so that the glue is dry, get a variety of clamps for small part, etc.

i really want to get trumpeters 1/200 bismarck but im kinda hesistant bc of the amount of work but i picked up takoms 1/72 bismarck B turret this will be my next project

My models just sit on my shelve after being complete, so there’s no need for it. The paint on the models that I have from five years ago is still fine today
