I interviewed Grahame Chapman about 15 years ago, and he told me "Marty Feldman was my (his) god". Absolutely briliiant comedy team.

      Sure... 15 years ago...

A seemingly bogus post, unless this person can’t count. Also, if Marty Feldman is your god, you’re pitiful.

Can see where the Goodies got their inspiration for a 1980s episode of their series featuring ballet hooliganism! Wonderful stuff.

"...walk out of this hell-hole with my head held high..." That's some beautiful alliteration right there.

This is in fact the entire original 2nd episode from the 2nd series, including the "clothes off" sketch at 18:33 which you will NOT find on the official DVD.

But why did they replace this sketch with the Police&Burglar-Sketch
      on the DVD?

Because the DVD is incomplete, and mislabels five compilations as episodes 1-5. There is at least twice as much material. It's also very inferior picture quality compared to the existing original episodes. Even this download is better quality (even though it comes from the same source material).

Marty Feldman From what I remember, the picture quality on the DVD was completely unsuitable for broadcast, being made up from 40 year old kinescopes. There's clearly been quite a lot of remastering going on.

That's what I thought but the DVDs are NTSC which doesn't always play back nicely on TV sets. It's not as bad as that. After all, almost anything from the '60s is a telerecording (kinescope is the American name for them).

My DVD player played them back fine and I have a standard Region 2 DVD player,

I saw clips from this episode on Swedish TV as a kid in the 80's. Obviously, it was never a lost episode -- in Sweden...

Bit late replying. You are right! A compilation of 5 ALT1948 show was returned from Sweden to the UK in 1989. At that time only two episodes of the original 13 broadcast in 1967 existed in the UK. Two further episodes turned up in 1994, one in 2003, one in 2010/two in 2014 and two in 2015. Some short clips came back from Australia and offair audio recordings have also turned up. 10 episodes in the original edit exist and from the Swedish compilation one episode has been reconstructed in full using the offair audio as a source. 18.30 minutes exist of one further episode and about 6 minutes of one episode. So out of 13 episodes broadcast, 11 exist in full, plus one 75% complete and one 25% complete. The BFI DVD is very good btw!!
So what you saw would have been sketches from the compilation, not the original 13 episodes, but the 5 compilation episodes with a mix of sketches from both series broadcast in 1967.

It's really funny to watch this with the TH-cam automatic closed-captions on. Try the ballet sketch at the end!

Does anybody know where I might find the antiques sketch? It's where Marty Feldman (I believe) throws a vase on the floor and puts his boot through a chair.
    Many thanks in advance.

Yes, it's on the BBC now, I just watched it. It is one of the shows that will be played on the Missing Believed Wiped programme next month.
