I'm very grateful that my mum and dad allowed me to stay up late to watch this show when it was first broadcast. I was 10. They thought the world had gone MAAAAD! We kids laughed our t**s off. So did my parents. Happy memories. Thanks for putting this on here.

OMG Marty Feldman from minute 3:44 to 4:14 is legit adorable and hilarious at the same time. Too funny! I like this long, meandering news sketch where they all play various parts. Good stuff.

Watching a young Marty Feldman caper it up with Cleese and Chapman makes me wonder what Python wold have been like if Feldman had joined in.

I think he's better suited for this humor but he went with Mel Brooks' troupe instead.

Every train in Britain should come with its own weird little magic man played by a Marty Feldman impersonator / clone

yeah all of it has been recovered apart from 10 minutes *I think*, however it's not all ripped. the various owners need to sort it out and get it released

Nope. There's plenty of great comedy today and there was plenty of bad comedy back then. It's just that blinkered, rose-tinted snobs like you prefer to ignore it.

This episode was found in Sir David Frost's archive. For some reason, the film from the archive cuts out Rhubarb Tart Song. On the 2019 BFI DVD of the series, the Rhubarb Tart Song is presented using the Ray Frensham audio tapes.

    • @xx4312

@@pipsta That is my point... it's been squashed as if it was. 16:9. It should be 4:3 - no bars.
It wasn't filmed anyway ( except for the OBs). The FR was made of the transmission.

History, art for all time, that should have been preserved with the greatest care, instead rescued from skip bins and far flung T.V. archives, as if it is the lowest dog shit imaginable. Oh, but every horrible, bigoted, ghastly, stupid, intelligence-insulting fucking episode of Are You Being Served still exists. There is no justice.
