Olivander says it in the first movie (and book) the wand chooses the wizard. Its a sign of just how powerful Neville really is in that he CAN use a mismatched wand!!!

    • @3SailorMartin
      @3SailorMartin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I think it was partly the wand, which you'll notice also helped Ron's magic after he got a new one in third year, but I also think there are two other factors:
      1. Being raised by Augusta Longbottom who continuously compared him infavorably to his parents which had to have affected his self-esteem.
      2. Now I know this is just my theory but I think part of it was PTSD about what happened to his parents. As you'll notice in the Order of the Phoenix it mentions his magic got noticeably better when the LeStranges broke out of Azkaban. He was even compared to being second only to Hermione in learning new spells (especially those of shielding oneself or others) and that was months before the battle at the Ministry. Now my theory is that Neville was there the night Bellatrix and the others attacked his parents. Perhaps he was hidden beneath a spell of some kind. Anyway seeing what happened and being unable to help (yes I know he was only 15 months old) maybe he subconsciously suppressed his magic until the threat was once more too real to ignore and this time he COULD do something to help

Crookshanks being Lily's is both sweet but tragic to think about, since we learn where Hermione got him and realising he'd been there ever since Lily and James were murdered by Voldamort.
Especially when Crookshanks probably originally tried to go back to Harry, but was chased off by the Dursleys

Wouldn't be interesting to believe that Gellert Grindlewald is a metamorphmegis? I mean if you think about it, Metamorphmagis is the magical ability that changes your appearance at will based on genetics. So, when Gellert Grindlewald's character was recast for the Fantastic Beast films so far, so did his overall physical appearance, thanks to Mads Mikkelsen's portrayal after Johnny Depp was replaced.

not physically abused? sure in the movies they arent true not as such or to the extent they are in the book[harry hunting dursely bullying harry and well i'm sorry but manhandling a kid from age 2 onwards and forcing them to sleep and live in a cupboard under the stairs in a 4 bedroom house and allowing your sister dogs to chase him and force him to cook clean and do everything is a form of physical abuse and that only what jk hint at i'm sorry but the dursely would be a hell of a lot worse if this wasnt a ''lighthearted'' ''kids'' series and if harry had lasted that long in their house he would be much worse then he was if he didnt go dark or obscurus or dead or mentally and physicall broken. of course the theory only works[ not that it really does for more then a few seconds] once we learn about horcruxes and their affects on people long term and brings up the question how come harry was even effect by the locket if he was one himself thus if he wasnt affect by his ''scar'' then why was he with the locket? and if the gang was affect by the locket by been close to it then how come no one was affect by harry nor the diadem been in hogwarts for so long? ditto for the diary . horcruxes were a last minute throw in cause jk didnt know how to end it so she used a while interesting bit of magic it doesnt work if you look at it closer then the surface which is basically the samething for all her ideas she added after the first movie it just opens up plot hole after plothole from then on.[harrys cloak, penseive, truth serum, mind arts, harry teleporting and growing his hair back as a kid, metamorphs, ''protection/blood wards around durselys, bassilisk venom an it effects on horcruxes horcruxes themselves, harry scar, the map, hogwarts wards, minivera never realising peter is in her charges house for years. remus not reckonizing peter scent on the train, harry not seeing threstals from the jump or at least second year onwards, the sword and it process of summoning , time turners, fideulis charm, obscurus and countless other additons to the story that appear each book/movie] the horcruxes dont work for long and are such a weak and silly way to tie everything together it just seems rushed

Jacob Kowalski is A Descendant Of Helga Hufflepuff: Helga was the best at foodcharms and she was the one who collected the Houseelfs to work in the Hogwarts kitchen, Jacob was a pastory chef and his uncle was a houseelf. Jacob is an imigrant from Poland (Europe), so even though he lives in America now his family actually lives close to Hogwarts where Helga lived. Jacob has all the qualities Helga wanted in her students (loyal, hardworking etc.). Helgas only known descendant is Hepzibah Smith, she told Tom Riddle that her family was dying to get their hands on the hufflepuff cup which means there are others descendant's of Helga Hufflepuff. Smith and Kowalski are both jawish names, and Kowalski means "son of Smith".
Dumbledore didn't give Snape the defence against dark arts because it was cursed: all of the teachers who taught the dark arts would suffer some cruel fade Quirrell died, Lockhard lost his memories, Lupin had already a cruel fade being a werewolf, Cruch jr. dementor kiss, Umbridge taken by centaurs and later sent to Azkaban all because Voldemort cursed it because he didn't get the job. But in Harry's sixth year Snape had already made the unbreakable vow to kill Dumbledore, so he would already suffer a terrible fate, and that's why he got it this time. and thats why Snape gave the job to Amycus Carrow later on.

I believe the sorting hat does know the future. To expand on that, I think it chose to sort Harry, Ron, and Hermione together. None of them really belonged in Gryffindor. Harry valued ambition which is a Slytherin trait. Ron valued loyalty which is a Hufflepuff trait, and Hermione valued knowledge which is a Ravenclaw trait.

    • @aspieangel1988

Hmmm nope. Gryffindors are typically sensitive and emotional and misunderstood. Hufflepuffs are NOT. They are typically confident and value self care and don’t care what people think and their loyalty is limited as where Gryffindors are loyal forever. I’m a Gryffindor I would know. You won’t see a Hufflepuff starting drama or throwing a tantrum as Ron did. Ravenclaws although they have tempers, they usually hide their emotions well. Hermoine was very open about her feelings. Slytherins are skilled at it and won’t hesitate to cut you to the core. Harry wasn’t cunning by any means. In fact he frequently argued with Slytherins on a daily basis. Harry, Ron & Hermoine definitely belong in Gryffindor because they are so sensitive and emotional. Neville too. Not all Gryffindors are brave (Neville), not all Hufflepuffs are kind (Tye Hufflepuffs who mocked Harry in goblet of fire), not all ravenclaws are smart (Lockhart obviously) and not all Slytherins are mean (snape). What sets us apart isn’t loyalty, anxiety, shyness, bravery, courage or ambition. It’s very simple:
Gryffindors are sensitive, emotional, misunderstood and want glory and typically hate work, school and social status and want to have fun.
Hufflepuffs value hard work, they hate school and social status and they avoid drama and want to be treated fairly.
Ravenclaws typically are nerds and want to learn but may not necessarily be smart because obviously Lockhart was an idiot 😂
Slytherins are easy. They typically want power and to reach the top of the corporate ladder.
Muggles: ordinary life. Hates magic. Hates Harry Potter. Values marriage and family.
ALL 5 however have loyalty, social anxiety, can be shy, brave in their own way, intelligent in their own way, kind, ect; We all have similar traits. What sets us apart is what I listed above. Me? I’m definitely a Gryffindor at heart. Gryffindor forever 💕

My theory is a bit dark but so is a lot of the Wizarding World. JK Rowling hinted a person unexpected would show magical ability. My thought was Dudley showed sings of having magic. The Dursleys 'magic trained' him. Like potty training only teaching magic was bad, a naughty dirty ability. It explains how he became such a bully, most bullies are victims of it previously. His parents held up Harry as an example of bad magic. It also explains why the Dursleys hated Harry so much they saw him corrupting thier little angel.

I'd like to think the piece of Voldermort in Harry is more an amplifier than a direct cause. Like Petunia would have had forms of resentment towards Harry on many levels. Dudley probably as well. I think Ron would have on some level as well. I think out and out the last horcrux just magnified it. Like Harry and Dudley leave on some form of ammends. There's the deleted (I believe) scene where Petunia says she was my sister. Harry won't "live forever now." Voldy used his blood to regenerate, keeping Harry anchored to life and able to return after getting AK'd in the forest. Dumbledore realized this might happen late in GoF when Harry told him about the graveyard events.

About that last theory; Obscurials happen when witches and wizards are denied the freedom of letting their magic out, or something of the sort, so if that last theory is correct, wouldn't it make a whole lot of Obscurials???? Well, I suppose Obscurials mostly die at a young age due to that, but still.

We don't know how long Lily had her cat, but it would only prove that Crookshanks would be pretty old. And I doubt magic will have to do with it. In book three, Ron took Scabbers to a pet shop and the keeper said that rats only live for three years when he said he had him for 12 years. Something similar could be said about cats.

The one about Neville isn't a fan theory, it's fact. His father's wand's profile was likely Ash wood, which is loyal to one wizard and not often passed to another because it would retain its original loyalty. When Neville uses the wand, he uses it in his right hand, but he (in the films at least) is left handed. This would make it harder for him to control the wand than it already was. Once he gets his new wand his abilities are noticeably changed. He's not only good at Herbology, but DADA and Charms too.
It's also worth mentioning that intent and confidence are huge factors in magic, and the fact that no one really believed in him until he was 15 would have had a huge impact on his ability. As soon as he started believing in himself, his power grew enormously, and with it people's trust in him. Hence him becoming essentially the greatest war hero in the series. Harry did a solo mission, Neville led an army.

several problems with some of these theories:
    - the ministry of magic didn't choose who would go to Hogwarts, the magical book&quill wrote the name of those chosen. therefor- it doesn't matter if the ministry of magic had a record, the muggle government should have been a well enough backup
-- continuing on this line: Nevil was only registered to Hogwarts at the age of 8 y/o, when his magical abilities were significant enough for both the quill (which tried to right down Nevil's name when he was a few months old, when his magic first apeared) and the book (which did not let the quill wright down the name of insignificant whiches&wizards). so no- i don't think this one can pass.
-- the imortal Harry- *why* would Harry only be killed by Voldemorte? what mechanism works here? why would you want this to be true? Harry never wanted imortallity, so why would he (or you) like it if he gets it by accident?
---George Wonka- F&G's shop was more about the tricks, the candy was just the instument.... so why would George open a candy factory and not a toy factory like Toys R Us or a slightlly-less-child-friendly version of Disney store? fertheremore: he isn't very familiar with the muggle world, and we don't have as many prancky options as the magical world- so why would he bother?
just asking why would you like these theoreis to be true

  • @davidbriggs7365

My personal idea is that there WAS a war between the NoMaj (as they are called in the U.S.) and the Wizards at around the same time as the English Civil War. Except that it WASN"T between those without magical ability and those with magical ability, rather it was between those who had two magical parents and those who didn't. Look at the trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione; of the three, Ron has two magical parents, Harry technically does, except that his mother did not, and neither of Hermione's parents are magical, and so under the Hogwarts of just before the war, Ron would have attended Hogwarts, Harry would have not been born (his parents met at Hogwarts), and Hermione would have been left out in the cold. The result of this keeping people out of Hogwarts like Hermione meant both good things, and bad things. The good thing is that Hogwarts graduates had a far stronger and far better magical education and abilities, but the bad thing is that they depended upon magic so much that obvious, simple and easy solutions to problems escaped them. I tell the story of a small English Force operating on French soil against the Hogwarts graduates that mistakenly place under siege a magically built Crannong (at least that's what I think they are called, it's a wooden platform placed over water with wooden walls and wooden houses where people can live), and a couple of young adventurous souls with the force throw some clay pots filled with a flammable substance against the front gates. Despite the fact that the Wizard Crannog was built over a lake, the wizards never think of taking water from the lake to use for firefighting, and so most of the people in the crannog are killed.

Harry; Not immortal, but his green eyes reflect a Killing Curse back to its caster unless he gets something else happening first, or he keeps his eyes closed. Also, Lily's "take me instead" - along with the trade-off; this is why a piece of Voldemort ended up inside Harry- - a payment for breaking the contract. Lily did not have to die as her eyes would reflect the green curse as well. She chose to.
