I currently drive a 2022 Silverado 3.0L LM2 Stock Engine with 11184 miles (18000kms) on it. The best highway fuel economy I have achieved is 34 mpg. (6.9L/100kms.) Cruise Control was set at 74.5 mph (120 km/h) for 226 miles (363 kms), with perfect driving conditions - no wind, 46.4F (8C). Geographically - Jasper AB (elevation 3465.83 feet to Edmonton AB (elevation 2198.16 feet). In my opinion, I'd say this is quite outstanding fuel economy for a stock full size truck. I have no doubt in my mind, that the LM2 is GM's best engine built in the last 10 years. I enjoyed your review, and hope you share more information/updates for the LM2!

Interesting video on the baby Duramax. I own a '23 Silverado 1500 RST with the LZ0. Very nice powertrain. Very smooth and quiet for a diesel with lots of torque and more than adequate horsepower for my needs. I get 16 mpg towing a 3500 lb travel trailer from Cali to Arizona and back (twice as good as the Frontier 4.0l V6 got) and get 28-30 mpg at highway speed. This truck drags the trailer up long/steep mountain passes at 65 mph with cruise control on effortlessly. The new baby Duramax does suck up lots of DEF while towing though.

Every once in a while my truck has light white mist or smoke From exhaust for about a minute when driving off. Only done this a few times and dealer can not find anything wrong and unable to duplicate the smoke. Goes away for a month or so and then happens out of nowhere. So we r talkin 285/290hp to the rear wheels & 560ft/lbs of torque w/ this middle of the road tune!? That is awesome! Forget the LZ0 until there is a def delete cause stock it eats thru def so w/ a tune you will burn thru that 5 gallons in a tank of fuel! W/ that said, have you driven w/o your foot in it to see what kind of mpg you can get? Best I have is 34.4mpg w/ stock tuning, 4x4 SLT & 2” lift w/ 295/55/r20 tires

I have a difficult quetion for you: whats the point of tuning a diesel? It will never feel like a gas. I have a new ecodiesel and i love the driving dynamics of the stock engine. Enjoy rolling down the road. Diesels are for towing and driving relaxed, not for racing..

    • @Duramaxtuner

@@Duramaxtuner everything in physics is a tradeoff. It is impossible to believe that the engineers gave up on better fuel economy and more power if there is no cost to pay in terms of reliability. You are trading durability for performance, thats what you are doing, but that's not my point. My point is that if u increase the performance of the diesel so much that it feels like a gas motor on the road, they it wouldn't feel like a diesel and would lose all of the appeal of driving a diesel. When u get an electric car u have better performance, but u miss the sound and the behavior of the internal combustion engine, don't u? Its the same when trying to improve the performance of a stock diesel.. There is a charm in the way diesels run..

sustained load EGT on stock tune was over 1400. so hearing yo say it ran rich makes a ton of sense.
the intercooler is easily overwhelmed and that electric coolant pump doesn't run 100% of teh time. they tried to keep IAT neat EGR temp was teh story i was told.
the original trans tuning (launch tuning) has it shift at 3900RPM 1-2 then lock the TCC. the updated trans calibration moved that up a bit and makes 2nd gear not preform as well (less time to make torque l5p style?) these were all WOT runs and experiences.
i have an "IKE" run on my channel with some (not this much) data maxed out at 15k combined. long video since its uncut.
TRANS tuning was my BIGGEST COMPLAINT! after updated calibration it became a DOG.

@Jakes videos Just cause it's black doesn't mean it's bad. Only way to find that out is thru oil samples. 200k on my 6.7 Ford and it turns black as soon as u start it after oil change. It's done it since it was new. I go 8k on oil changes and sample every oil change. It gets analyzed at my Local CAT dealer since that have the Lab right there
